I was at my wits end about my split ends & could not get in at a different hair salon that I usually would go to so I thought I would see if I could find a new salon closer to me. I did a quick google & found a few high-rated salons; most did not answer the phone & only a few had voicemail, that is until I called Wilder & Free Beauty. They answered the phone & not only professional but also friendly. I explained what I have & what I want. The stylist asked if I could come down, they explained that they are at another salon temporarily & if I was still interested to come down in that afternoon for a consultation to see what they can do. The salon they are located at is easy to get to, lots of parking, you are greeted as soon as you walk in. They have products on display so you can look/shop or sit in their comfortable chairs while you wait. I did not have to wait long until they came out & took me back. I have long, thick, very abused hair that currently was a thick layer of roots, hair that was temp colored green that would not fade so a color stripper was used that made my hair pink, then bleached to try to get rid of the pink. Basically roots, yellow/orange long thick mess & I wanted to do a dark root to light gray balayage. They explained in detail what it would take & how long it would take & that gray is one of the hardest colors as you have to bleach almost to white to get it. They let me know that it could take several visits to get the lift we need to match what I wanted. They provided me with my estimate & booked my appointment just a few days out (3 business days.) Day of appointment, get their early & I am in my chair early. No letting the grass grow with these stylists. Now let me explain why I am writing this long review, I can be a pain in the peach for stylists because I am a tender-headed wuss who also happens to have temple-alopecia so you have to be gentle with my hair as it could fall out if you pull too hard. Also I did explain during the consultation that I was having major oral the day before so I will not be able to talk much & have to wear a mask. She ensured me that was okay & she can work around the mask strings. With all this being said, Kaitlyn is a frikken magician. Not ONCE did I say ouch, not once did I feel embarrassed for having two giant bald spots on my temples nor having to wear a mask because my face was super swollen. Kaitlyn not only gave me exactly what I wanted with my hair color & cut she also is one of the nicest stylists I have ever had. In the end the estimate was spot on, they take ApplePay & are okay with cash tips. Kaitlyn let me know the exact product to get to keep my color the way I want until my next appointment. So yah super long review but this salon & Kaitlyn 100 % worth it. 10/10 will book again. read more

This review is about Taylor because she is a hair wizard. It's also about a color correction, so listen up - there's some things I want to share. First - my hair was darn near black and god knows what else after a couple disappointing services at another salon (who are all so sweet, I'm sorry!) I just really wanted to meet a stylist that was brutally honest but got me and my vibe. Taylor told me straight up yes I will be real with you, come in for a consult. So I did. And she was brutally honest: "You're gonna be a color correction" and my response was yep, how much do I pay you? I showed Taylor my hair goal(s) and I told her I was totally committed to the process and I don't expect to go from black to cool blonde hues and smudge root in one setting. Color corrections are a process. The final goal should be, of course to get your dream hair, but your hair type/history/and willingness to be flexible/and even seeing how your hair lightens will change the path along the way- and that's where Taylor is such a rockstar and does some wizardry to know a good stopping point. During my actual service, Taylor did a great job lifting old color out of my hair. We did discover at that point I'm going to have to rock a warmer look for a min until I nourish my strands and get the next light blonde and more shadowy root applied. It may even take another visit to get to where we are going. The point is, color corrections take time, patience, some problem solving, and one excellent stylist who really knows what she is doing. I've been seeing Stacy for years; I've done just about everything to my hair (blonde, brunette, long, short, etc.) and not once have I been unhappy with the result! Stacy is absolutely incredible with color. Seriously, she's a wizard! Not only is she amazingly talented, but she's super fun to chat with. She makes a 4 hour appointment feel like 40 minutes! The ambiance of the salon is super cool, so that's a huge + too. Another thing I really appreciate is that she's always able to figure out what I want done in terms of cut and color... I'm not a stylist myself, so sometimes I struggle clarifying what what I want (ie: I accidentally told the receptionist that I wanted an all over color, but really I wanted a balayage). Stacy is absolutely the bee's knees! So a little backstory about a year ago Stacy and her amazing team fixed my hair from being destroyed by another salon. At that point it was literally melting off and just was a hot mess. They fixed it and made it look amazing. Fast forward a year later and I was able to get in with Stacy herself for the first time, let me just tell you the woman is an absolute hair goddess! Not only did she 100% customize my color (She used customize bleaching formula with different levels of developer to make sure that my hair was not compromised or damaged in any way) She handpicked through my hair to be sure that literally each strand was treated absolutely flawlessly. The time, patience and customization that Stacey gives each one of her clients is priceless literally! She's the sweetest person I know, and even sitting in her chair for almost 4 hours felt like the best four hours ever. Genuine and really just cares about her clients! I got hair extensions and Brazilian blowout done from this place. I was not at all pleased with the service. Everything was done wrong. First of all, I was told I'll get wavy hair to match my hair texture. But the hair was super straight and didn't match at all. I had to straight my hair every time I washed to make it match. Also, after installation, the hair is supposed to be cut to blend well. The stylist did nothing to make it blend and I had to go to another salon to get it cut and blend. And they recommended keratin tip extensions and I was told that's the best. But it was not, at least not what they used. The glue that was used kept coming out white and powdery (like dandruff), it looked gross. I couldn't wait to get my extensions removed!! The Brazilian blowout did nothing to my hair, useless! I paid close to $1500 but it was not worth it at all! And next is the service. Very rude and unreasonable owner (Vicky). I was told to pay for 5 packs of hair and they told they can get refund for the unused packs. They used only 3 and half packs. I had to make more than 20 phone calls and wait for months to get refund for the unopened pack. She will either not pick (if I call from my number), or put my call on hold forever or say she'll call me back after checking with her stylist but she won't. They had a fire recently and hence I was being very patient that they were going through a lot but their level of unprofessionalism was too much. I finally got some refund (for some reason she won't pay the entire amount) and not a single apology for the inconvenience! Definitely won't recommend this salon! read more

Hello everyone, I usually don't write reviews,specifically negative BUT i just can't believe I spent 260 for my hair being ruined. I came with natural medium brown hair and I completely understand you can't go blonde in one sitting (but I had bleached my hair before and never walked out of salon with more brassy hair than this one). The most important part its roots, omg it's very uneven and looking so cheap. When I saw my hair wet for the first time I almost immediately told my stylist it's very different from the picture and I didn't like it ,not even a color but the overall concept, it's so patchy. I can tell she could've do it a bit more careful because she was very quick. I was upset and she told me it was a bad lighting and she styled my hair into curls and it kinda looked fine, but after my hair got straight I noticed uneven patches, so everyone around me. I feel like I could get this result by myself at home. This review is for Chantel/lash extensions only! This was my very first time getting eyelash extensions and I truly didn't know what to expect. She was having a sale at the time and I thought it was the perfect opportunity for me to try out extensions. I opted for the volume set. Chantel didn't explain much about the process and mainly answered questions I had as they came up. In the end, I didn't leave with a lash wand and the appointment lasted close to 4 hours. Instantly after I got in my car, I lost about 3 lash clusters from my inner corners. I contacted Chantel and she kindly offered me to come back to get my inner corners fixed. I didn't come right back after that day, but ended up getting my very first 2 week fill from her for free! I saw Chantel consistently for fills for about 1-2 months. Usually after a fill, the same thing would take place, I would slowly lose clusters over the course of the day after appointment. I noticed after a couple appointments that my inner corner clusters would never stay up and would always droop downwards. I kept my eye area away from water for the first 24-48 hours to be safe and do not slept in positions that would crush my extensions (after every appointment). After one of the last appointments I went to, I drove off and by the end of the night, lost at least 7-8 clusters. I contacted Chantel and she told me that that was probably happening because of my old set gradually shedding off. This was one of the last times I went to William James for my lashes because, at the price I was paying, the maintenance was way too high and the service never lasted me as long as I thought it would. My friends who also get lash extensions always tell me their lashes last a good 2-3 weeks. Sometimes even 4 weeks. Mine never lasted longer than 1.5-2 weeks at most. After seeing a new lash artist, she informed me that the clusters that Chantel were using on me were at least 10-12D, therefore, they were way too heavy for my own lashes and that's the reason they kept shedding so quick . It also damaged my real lashes and caused them to shed at a higher rate due to weight. I wouldn't recommend William James for lash extensions I'm sad to say. Even though Chantel is the sweetest and has amazing customer service, I would recommend someone more experienced! I would also suggest finding someone that has more reasonable pricing, pricing here was rather high (considering what you're getting) compared to average. read more

Came in for a dark purple balayage (reference photo below, which I showed my stylist), and I ended up with pink on my head. I was OK with getting a purple color slightly different than my reference photo, but my end results were a completely different color, and I'm not sure why since I came in with virgin hair that's never been bleached or colored before. Also, not styled the balayage looks a bit patchy, but that might just be how balayages look when they're not straightened or curled. Overall, I didn't feel was worth the $300. read more

I am giving this place 2 stars because Sam had an excellent attitude when she worked on my hair. Unfortunately my hair was yellow when I walked out. I have been a bright blonde for 6 years. I recently moved to Kent and needed to find a new stylist so I gave this place a try. There is no reason why my hair should've been yellow. My hair lifts easily and takes toner really well. I paid over $230 for my service while also tipping Sam. Unfortunately I couldn't take the yellow given my upcoming Vegas trip so I called to have my hair fixed. Another girl, I think her name is Taylor, put a permanent color on to help fight the yellow. She had the most condescending attitude and made me feel like I didn't know my own hair. When I walked out my hair looked BETTER but is still yellow and orangey. I do not suggest blondes coming here and I won't be returning. read more
