I write this review with mixed feelings. I had scheduled a color and cut with Rocky after finding…read moreher portfolio on socials. I liked her work but the whole experience today left a very bad taste in my mouth. First my appointment was at 12:30. As soon as I knew that I'd be late--I called the salon immediately letting them know my ETA. I was 5 minutes late. I realize this is frustrating and it's not my style to leave my hairdresser in this situation. I was very apologetic on the phone and embarrassed that I was late. That said--from the moment I stepped into this salon I was treated awfully and with such rude undertones. The stylist Rocky and the front desk did not greet me with a "hello" or really any acknowledgement. To add injury--I was a new client of Rocky. She didn't introduce herself, make any effort to ask me about myself, just usual banter (I assume common for picking up new clients). I felt like I was walking on eggshells the entire time. While I liked my cut and color, I don't appreciate when salons force a certain percentage tip. The options were 20, 30 or 35%. I had cash on hand. I asked the gal if I could tip in cash and they had no change. Super odd. Given the poor treatment and lack of friendly staff for a first time customer. I won't be back. I'm happy to give $450+ to another salon and stylist that treat their clients ALL equally with enthusiasm and respect

Is it over the top to say that this is the hair I've been dreaming of for my entire adult life?…read moreMaybe, but it's pretty dang close to accurate. I was admittedly a little wary of Jessica. I mean, I had just heard *too* many great things, and I am hella picky with my hair. There was no way she could live up to expectations, so I tried to keep them tempered. But sweet Jesus, total girl crush. First: Dada itself is a small cozy shop... complete with a disco ball and David Bowie over the waves. Major, major props for that. I loved the big antique comfy chairs and homey atmosphere: nothing obnoxiously trendy, no Lady Gaga booming out of the speakers. Exactly the kind of salon I'd put together if I had the means/creativity/desire. Oh, and I can walk from my house. Doesn't get any better. But then there's Jessica. First of all, she's an absolute dreamboat. I love love love when I envy my stylist's hair, and hers I most definitely did. But when I walked out of the salon I've got to admit that I envied no one's hair, because mine is perfect. I have asked for truly red hair for years, even using terms like "orange," "bright," and "vermillion" that others may typically shy away from. But I typically walk out with the same 'do, a lovely strawberry shade that is all parts pretty but no parts badass. Now, my hair is the perfect combination of both. Jessica was sure to explain the maintenance that comes with red hair which I appreciated and I feel like she really did her best to make my hair look stellar without it being crazily cost-prohibitive. I felt totally at ease in Jessica's chair, and after three hours felt like I had just spent the afternoon chatting with a great friend than having an awkward stumbling conversation with a total stranger. If you're looking for something different and innovative, I recommend Jessica with all that I've got. She's the first stylist in Atlanta with whom I really, honestly, truly look forward to having a repeat visit. Atlanta, I can now officially stick around. I've found a hairstylist even better than my love in DC, and that's a big freakin' deal. Thanks to my kajillion friends (and Yelp!) that recommended her.

If you're a curly head, please reconsider your life choices and go find a curly salon. If you want…read morea tousled, retro look and restyle your hair everyday, maybe you'd like this. But expect to have your haircut decided for you not with you. I have shoulder length hair I was trying to grow back out. I said I wanted to keep length but clearly needed some help with dimension and layers from a early pandemic self-cut. Leah had already decided what she was doing. The wash was fine, but then she used a towel to tightly pull my hair against my scalp (a major curl no no). The initial layering would have been fine, but then without checking with me, she started twisting large sections of my hair and razoring them!! I was horrified. I knew she went too high and I would end up with awkward short pieces around my scalp and that not paying attention to my curl pattern meant I would end up with ringlets that look like they've been hacked. She then diffused while tightly scrunching my top curls and shaking out the rest. I wear my hair in it's natural tight ringlets, not tousled out, so this didn't provide a realistic assessment of the cut. After washing it at home and letting it curl naturally, I've had to trim quite a few legging ringlets and have found I have a some wierd short curls around the top layer that I'm not loving.

I could've ended up at Supercuts under those circumstances, but Jamie must've had a cancellation because she had one open appointment yesterday afternoon. (PS: I love being able to schedule online!) As soon as I entered the salon (which is beautiful, by the way), Jamie warmly greeted me at the door; she has an amazing, positive energy, and I trusted her with my locks right away. We talked about what I wanted (non-grandma, low maintenance, incorporate my wacky inelegant natural wave, a hint of edginess so I can trick people into thinking I'm cool and stylish, etc.) and looked at some pictures together, and I could tell she "got me." After a shampoo and fabulous head massage, we returned to the chair so she could work her magic. She styled me using just a blow dryer with a diffuser (Noice - thank you for that!), so I knew I wouldn't have to do a lot to maintain it, and when I saw the final product, I knew I'd found my spirit stylist. I. LOVE. MY. HAIR. (And this is not something I say often.) She upped my style game significantly without breaking the bank. (And if you've visited a stylist in Atlanta, you know it can happen!) Her rate is very reasonable when you consider the epic service she provides. I wasn't feeling photo-ready since I dragged my post-yoga self to the salon without a smidge of makeup, so I'm posting a pic here. Thank you, Jamie!

Not only did VIvian turn her into a carrot top, but when she wanted to try to get it fixed, her and her coworker said they didn't want anything to do with hair. AND gaslit her saying that she showed her different photos (photos my friend showed attached). My friend kept begging asking if there's anything they can do to redo the balayage or fix it, and they were extremely rude and mean and refused to answer my friend's questions, but just saying they were done here. My friend went into the bathroom to go cry. Talk about not only messing up, making my friend cry, and not taking ANY accountability. We will NEVER be coming back here nor will I ever recommend it to anyone. You know hair can make SUCH a big difference on someone, and I am just baffled that they not only didn't take any accountability but also didn't CARE about how they messed up to try and fix what they did wrong. Unbelievable.
