Leaving this review on my mom's behalf, per her request: She went in to get a salt and pepper hair dye done, as she's going grey and wanted it to look better. However, she went in at 11 am and was out of the salon until 3 pm. During this time, the man working on her hair constantly left her, talked to others, and left to move his car from the street parking it was in. The total cost for this service was $157. All of the dye washed off the next day in the shower. Even before washing off, there were parts of her hair left uncovered. The hair that had been blonde (through her dyeing it) is now orange and her hair is gummy. We called to request a full or partial refund, however, were offered a chance for them to fix it. We called back to say she doesn't want them to fix it as she is already having a hard time with the way her hair looks, and just wants a refund. They refused and said they needed to see it and fix it.

My hair doesn't look like the reference photo AT ALL. She cut the entire front half of hair off and it is very choppy. I'm going to go get it fixed from another salon and never come back. I wish she told me she doesn't know how to do this haircut instead of ruining my hair.

And... this just keeps getting worse. "Christian" here decided to message me and blame me for the whole situation even going so far as to chastize me for even going to this salon at all instead of my "regular" stylist that I don't have. All of this to have someone contact me from the salon page to offer a free cut to fix it because supposedly I showed them a picture with straight hair. I did not. The picture I brought in along with my screenshots of the conversation are attached. So, also be apprised that after they are not taking proper precautions to protect against covid, they destroy the quality of your hair, they will blame you for the bad service and keep making you feel worse about it for days. At least that's been my experience.

Okay so after looking for a great salon that really cares about how you look, I finally found it. Chris is amazing!! He does such a great job. He is honest. If your hair is not going to look good at the end he will tell you, but also suggest to you what will look good. They have the best products to take home. My hair is so much softer and longer. I HIGHLY recommend both Chris and Omar to anyone that come here. Me & my daughter always have the cutest hair styles when leaving the salon!!

Great experience here at salon viejo, was looking for a nice salon in echo park and not have to spend an arm and a leg to get a decent cut... Found this place, called in and made an appointment right away Luis helped me out and cut my hair, he was very nice, polite and easy to talk to, i felt very comfortable with him and the salon, everyone knows going to a new salon / hair dresser can make anyone nervous, but not the case with Luis and salon viejo... I plan on coming back again soon

I first heard about this place on TikTok and it was always in the back of my mind. I went today, with no inspo at all, when he asked me what I wanted I just randomly showed him a picture on Pinterest that was a cute layered hair with very pretty brown highlights. I went in with Chris, omg, he is literally the best, I 100% recommend. I attached a picture of the aftermath and I am very satisfied with my results. The place is such a vibe, very kind and welcoming place, for sure a place you'd want to check out. Thank you so much Chris, keep the amazing work going and I will definitely go back again :) !! Life savers! I walked-in with botched up bleached and dyed hair and walked out with amazing, beautiful copper red hair. Kris and Aracely both worked in my hair. They were both kind & funny. They kept checking on me to make sure my scalp wasn't burning, which it wasn't! This morning I woke up thinking I'd have to go for multiple sessions to correct the damage but they did it in one visit & they did it beautifully. read more

I love coming here with my mom as a mom and daughter date. The hair stylist starts you off with making SURE to ask all of the questions to give you the cut and color you want. If you don't know what you want and yet are a picky or pretentious person then this salon is not for you. The vibes are very welcoming, a beautiful x-mas tree is up rn. HORRIBLE! Do not go to this Salon. I came in and asked for a trim. They cut off 12 inches! And they refused to give me a refund. Horrible quality. I grew my hair out for three years and they ruined it without any care. The man was late to the appointment and really unsafe vibe. read more

I have been a loyal customer for 20 years. I have dyed my hair at Salon Viejo, put extensions, gotten hair cuts, and Brazilian Blowouts. The hairstylists are professional and will ask the customer beforehand what they want done and ask for confirmation. They are welcoming. Great vibes at Salon Viejo. read more

Omar is a terrible stylist. Baseline, if you can't physically touch clients with care, CHOOSE ANOTHER CAREER. He flicked his heavy scissors on my forehead the entire cut and put his hands on me so aggressively; I seriously questioned what his problem was. He could not execute the cut I wanted; which I will admit was a specific technique and style: a baby bang. But he kept arrogantly saying he could do it, so I stupidly trusted him. Don't do that. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I walked out of the salon looking and feeling like shit. read more

I called last minute, Chris answered and told me to come in because they had room. I arrived and only waited 5 minutes with super cute Chloe before he started washing my hair and doing the cut! It was fast, affordable and honestly relaxing. I showed him some pics of what I wanted and trusted him. They had a tv which kept me entertained and alsoooo the doggy. Which sat on my lap while he cut the back side of my head. He also blow dried and did my do which was perfect for Friday night! I'm definitely coming back! There is meter parking all around but if your fácing east On Sunset towards the big car wash, make a right on Alvarado and there's parking with no meter. read more

Chris was so awesome! I desperately needed a cut after not having one for 6 months. I called after reading their reviews, and he said he could take me right away. The salon is cozy and you can tell they have been in the neighborhood for a long time. It's not fancy, but Chris' talent makes up for it. He and Omar were so kind and entertaining while I got my cut. I love how I can walk in with a very vague description of what I want that day & Kris nails it every time. Kris has cut, dyed, bleached, stripped, styled my hair. Every singe time I've walked out extremely happy! Omar fit me and my best friend in for blowouts 2 hours before. His blowouts are the most amazing blowouts ever!! His technique with the brush and blow dryer is like no other. I left with the most voluminous and gorgeous hair, my blowout took Omar less than 30 minutes. THANK YOU OMAR!!!! read more

Came back for a haircut today cause I couldn't deny how close it was to my apartment and the affordable price. Got Chris this time and he was AMAZING! Finally found my hairstylist in LA. He was so nice and pleasant to talk to. $30 bucks for wash, haircut and blow dry - and I have long hair! Price is the best around. read more

Parking pretty much sucks but that's not the salon's fault. I was able to find parking by the laundry mat. I was too lazy to walk up the hill lol Anywho, as I first walked in it was very awkward because his tone came off as "I'm too busy" type of thing. As I sat there and waited ~45 mins for him to finish with his clients, I noticed that's just the way he actually talks and means no harm by it. Just thought I'd put it out there so you won't have the "what the hell?" first time experience as I did. Finally! It was my turn! He made me feel completely comfortable with my decision. He also made sure to give me tips about my hair. He also makes small convo with whomever he is working, which I highly appreciated! I'll definitely come back. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I had a bunch of hair on my shirt. It could have been the material, but I will never know until I go back. I'll update this as I continue to go ^*^ You won't regret coming here. I'm super picky with everything and I left the salon with a smile on my face :) BTW the man who helped me out was Omar. First of, I have natural long thick hair. I have never dyed in or done anything to it. The thickness, damage and puffiness was out of control so I headed to this location to chop it off. Chris whom had never done my hair recommended that I look into Brazilian Blowout. He recommended it, never said to do it asap but I was so desperate with my uncontrollable hair that I took a chance and told him to do it. He saw I was not sure but assured me that I would be satisfied. I was worried of the chemicals and so on but he reassured me it was to help my hair not damage it. He explained the process and after care blah blah. So I did it along with a trim and OMG I loved it. After showering I do not have to spend time doing my hair. I can just head to work. My hair looks shiny and healthy and not to mention it looks extra gorgeous when I straighten or curl it. read more

She actually recommended a softer, wavier perm, but I kept insisting I wanted it curlier (lol). She listened to exactly what I wanted while still giving me honest professional advice, which I really appreciated. She also recommended getting a haircut beforehand, and I'm SO glad I listened. I have really thick hair with a lot of density, and she spent about 40 minutes cutting it. She didn't rush at all and was so meticulous. She removed just enough weight while keeping my length, added beautiful long layers, and gave my hair so much more movement and dimension. The perm came out exactly how I was hoping! My hair feels so much lighter, the curls are beautiful, and I'm honestly obsessed with the result. I drove about an hour from the Valley, and it was 100% worth it. Parking was easy, the salon was clean and adorable, and they even had snacks and drinks for clients. Overall such a great experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to make the drive again. Jennifer agreed to accommodate me and even stayed after hours to work on me. She assessed my hair and decided what to do (we ended up removing 50% of the extensions -- the previous salon had added too much hair so she could charge me for more hair, which was one of the reasons I ended up looking like I was wearing a wig). Jennifer cut the width of the extensions and replaced them at the most natural position for my head shape, and blended everything together seamlessly. Jennifer, you are amazing!!! Thank you so much. I ended up booking for Wednesday afternoon, parked nearby the coffee shop. Wasn't a busy day. Arlene is such a hair expert! I told her I prefer short hair for the volume and she showed me some ideas. We decided that a short bob would be best to fix my mess! She did a fantastic job fixing up the uneven pieces, making sure to fix the bangs so it would grow out nicely. She also showed me how to style it at home, since short hair is high maintenance. I'm super happy with how it turned out, and I'll definitely be back when it's time to trim. Through the non-profit "Children with Hair Loss" Du Japon Hair Club was vetted for donations and is the only approved salon in the Los Angeles area. I met Yuki, who owns and operates this salon and also one of the best stylists I've had in my years of barbers. She is so nice and explained the process of the donation and also provided guidance on selecting the best hair cut for me. After looking at a few photos, I decided to go with a moderate cut to ease back into the general population. I was so happy with the results and would recommend Yuki to any of my friends. She will only take appointments and is the busiest during the weekend. I would recommend calling well in advance for your appointment, as she works generally towards the end of the week through the weekend.

To top it off when I called to tell her she did not apologize, she did not act as though she felt bad her response was not caring at all. Not to mention she didn't offer any advice or a refund. Now it will take me years to get my hair healthy and I'm so upset.

I said I had another appt after but that would be fine. I arrived and sat down and waited. They said I was checked in. I waited one hour before going to the front desk to say that now, I would not have time to do the appt because, as I told them, I would have to leave for another appt. I had allotted 2 hours and now there was only 1 hour left and I had not even been seen or sent for hair washing. All the while I waited, I could see Sal doing at least 2 other people's hair. When I asked the front desk if I could reschedule, they said they would talk to him. Several minutes passed. Sal was aware that I was there, but chose not to speak to me himself. He chose not to even take two minutes to face me and apologize. He was going to Mexico the next night, and could only offer the next day during hours I had to work. The salon manager apologized for Sal and offered another hair dresser. I have curly hair and want someone experienced in curly hair- especially when the haircut is right before my wedding and will cost hundreds of dollars. I think the worst part was that Sal was right there but simply didn't have the courtesy to apologize. I will never return to this salon. As for my wedding in two weeks, I have asked my makeup artist to help me find someone.

I specifically said I was willing to pay the extra because I did not want yellow or orange roots. Not only did my roots remain yellow after processing and toner, but since the appointment I now have noticeable breakage on the bottom of my hair that was not present beforehand. My hair appear fragile and uneven, and my hair feels significantly thinner since this appointment. I can't even run my fingers through it .......it feels extremely dry, rough, and damaged. During styling, I also received a burn on my ear from her curling iron. When I raised concerns about the color result. It was dismissed rather than addressed. She told me it was impossible to get my roots bright blonde with regrowth this long....... after already charging me extra for the double process and assuring me it could be done. This service was performed by Jaime, the owner. I am now left with breakage in the back, damaged hair, and yellow roots.

My feet have been through it the last couple of years (sports) and I wanted to get serious about caring for them properly, not just getting them painted. Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I had discussed my upcoming nuptials with her and she wanted to make sure my hands moisturized properly for my big day, even providing a demonstration on proper application. Ms. Glen is a gem!

I trusted the front desk staff to guide me, and was quoted $80 for Gel-X, builder gel removal, and French tip. At my appointment on Friday 7/18, I was unexpectedly charged $110! I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. If you're considering booking here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for more transparent and customer-friendly service.

I moved from tge west side and my usual stylist is so far now. She charges $20 for wash, cut n styled blow dry. I figured I could find someone who could cut hairas nicely and as cheaply. My usual stylist takes about 25 minutes to cut my hair in the V shaped, long layered style. This place only too 10 minutes which really alarmed me. It looks more like I have one shoulder length layer and a second mid bk lenth layer.. not cute!!! Its safe to say Ill be spending the extra gas n time to travel to my usual salon for a correction and future cuts. read more

I've been a customer there since I was 15 (I am 22 now) I love Chris and Omar, I never know what I want to do to my hair but I trust them so much, that I never care, I tell them to go nuts, always walk out of there feeling like a princess. Price is very affordable and they are a blast to hang out with. I recommend making an appointment though because if you walk in, you'll be waiting for a while. But the wait is worth it!
