I have been a satisfied customer of this establishment for close to 20 years. Unfortunately, I have also aged, I am now 81 and over the years have increasingly been loosing mobility. When I called this morning for an appointment, I was told, "the shareholders will no longer take advance appointments from me". I was embarrassed! I hope the "shareholders" never get old and have to experience the difficulties of age. I do understand the importance of keeping schedules. WE ALL age, the body can not always keep appointments. Don't waste your MONEY or TIME ...:( Some of the hairstylists (I went to 3) I gave this place the COLLEGE TRY 4 stupid times .. are maybe average and give alot of glorified lip service ! The owner Rob had to get involved twice ..the last time took the cake ..I was very gray I couldn't get there sooner due to illness ..the color, glaze and haircut took 4 hours ...4 people had their hand and scissors in my hair at the end the owner ROB comes by to correct the problem because the stylist is still too green to be on the floor ...his fault !!! Didn't even offer me a drink of water or even a free service of any for sitting in a chair for 4 hours with a student stylist. My DISGUST is beyond words !! 3 stars is for the owner not the stylist. the other two stars left off was because my hair is trashed. Do not go and see tim for blonde or an ombré look. He ruined the color in my hair and it's bad. The owner is the sweetest though. I ended up having an attack and was in tears cause he didn't handle it right what so ever I was shaking and upset and stopped the process. No apology just blaming it on a shadow of the picture I showed him which made no sense just excuses. even with the pic I repeated with descriptive words on what I wanted and he said yes. The owner was amazing to me and sweet so it's not his fault and I hear good things about the Salon but this guy did not do what we discussed and it looks nothing like the picture he put so much blonde in my hair and covered most of my brown hair and Foiled it on top of my scalp when it was suppose to be the middle and symmetrical like ombré is and like the pic I showed him and it was lopsided and choppy and patchy. It just looks like I have grown out roots. I had a few people confirm so I knew I wasn't in the wrong. It was no where near what we discussed. He then left me at the wash with toner on to fix the blonde and left me for 35 mins when it was suppose to be 20 and my hair is now gray. He thought cutting another clients hair was more important. It's Suppose to be brown blended into the blonde with brighter blonde on the ends. He was cutting another persons hair and left me and lied to me and said toner wouldn't affect the color being left on longer but yet I now had gray hair And my roots were now darker. the hair color was so bad and it was on top of my scalp the foiling job was the worst part. I stopped him for continuing never got a hair cut and went to pay and the owner was so nice to me and said not to and to let him fix it but I was shaking and upset and told him to let me think on it. To me getting my hair done is a big deal especially when it's for something special. I also pay a lot of money for this stuff. everyone has different techniques but it should be at least what you discussed. it should look close to what you want not drastically the opposite. Don't let this review stop you from going but don't go to Tim for an ombré look. unless he just messed me up and had a bad day I do not know and I don't know what his other work looks like. But the way he handled it was unprofessional too. He also got bleach on my shirt and my pants cause he was rough with the foiling. It was just an over all bad experience. I got a sitter to do this so it would be done for my bday And my husbands Christmas party. Please do better for the next client. I also am leaving this review in hopes he actually owned up to his mistake. Shouldn't make a client feel like crap for what you did it isn't right. Thank you. read more

When I moved to these areas, I decided to look for a good beauty salon and came several times since I like the attention and their good professionals, unfortunately I have had the bad luck that I have not been with a single stylist since they leave, the only thing The bad thing is that they don't know how to dry hair properly and I've always paid for it, but this last time I didn't want to do it because it looked horrible and the hair was wet. I made my appointment as I always have and Karen is the one who has always taken my appointments and I explain my reasons to her because when I go I don't really do all my hair but if I go for my root touch-up, I do something else I have never had the problem of having the procedure done, but this time it was a problem with the stylist who was not friendly, she always had the face of not wanting to attend to me because at least what I want is a mess. She did the job well, but it was only the drying, I didn't like it, so I didn't decide to pay for it, I told the owner, but by surprise, his treatment was detestable and he blamed the client because my appointment wasn't to do this procedure and that's why he had the stylist stay more hours, it was not a good customer service and more being the owner impressed me, because it is not the solution and ways. I currently use Kristin for my haircuts. She has a room that she rents at Salon Volo. I love Kristin and would follow her anywhere. She takes time to listen to how you would like her to cut your hair, she spends time asking questions so that she understands exactly what you are looking for. Kristin is also great at just everyday chat. She is easy to carry on a conversation with during the entire visit. Salon Volo has always been great during my visits to Kristin as well. I've had a few people tell me how much they like Salon Volo but I never felt I needed a "salon". I've always been the kind of person who doesn't like to make appointments and didn't care much how my cut turned out because it would always grow back. So, I always opted for the closest walk-in chop shop. As I've matured though, my hair started deciding for itself on which parts of my head it wants to grow, in which direction it feels like going this week and, what color it wants to be. While I have no control over any of that, I did learn the value of a smart stylist. At my first appointment I was greeted at the front desk by Joey Fletcher. He took me on a tour of the salon that left me wondering if I had just stepped into a magic mirror. The space inside the building is very well laid out and very classy from front to back. It was way larger and much nicer than I ever expected. Most importantly, when Joey sat me down in his chair he engaged me in a conversation about my hair. It wasn't the usual "How do you want your hair cut?" followed by my "#2 on the sides and scissors on top" exchange. He was more concerned about what challenges I have with my hair, my work and social environment, and my tolerance for daily styling. My new style isn't drastically different but the subtle differences are noticeable, and not just to me :-) This salon is clearly a well managed business, offers a wide variety of personal care services, employs true professionals, is quiet and relaxing and is affordable even for me. I'll be entering my future appointments in my calendar as "Man Cave" rather than "salon" though. It just feels better! read more

Don't go here unless you don't mind paying way over than what you expected. Call ahead of time for pricing, and if you can't afford to spend atleast $100 over that, go somewhere else. I'm willing to spend a lot of money on my hair, but not here. If you have thicker, or ethnic hair whatsoever, this is not the place for you. My hair is thick and wavy, I've never had a problem with basic cuts at this salon, only color. Owner rushes stylists especially if the client has a little more hair on their head. I've never had two people (the stylist and the owner) on the sides of my head yanking my hair to rush a process. I went home crying because I didn't like the end result and my scalp was in pain from the tugging and them going so fast. It took a lot of effort for the owner to consider fixing the problem, and even then the experience was the same. The only reason this isnt a 1 star is because I really liked my stylist. This could be a great salon if they could cater to a more diverse cliental. I also heard they give a discount for people leaving 5 star reviews. read more

My sister recommended Salon Volo after I moved to St Pete looking for a local stylist. I noted the salon's $29 women's cut special and booked an appointment with April. April gave me a tour of the salon and offered me coffee or wine prior to the hair service. The salon is beautiful (noted earlier Yelp review dissing the location of the salon, but I'm concerned with the interior of the salon, not the exterior!) and the staff was friendly. April did a great job and honored the $29 special. She also discussed fees for future color/highlighting services which I appreciated (and deemed reasonable - I already booked my return appointment for a highlighting touch-up). A few days later she called to make sure I was happy with the cut results. I look forward to my next appointment! read more

After being a customer of this salon for 3 years, my husband used this salon for about a year and a half, until he passed away and also have brought my grandkids here, I cannot believe how I was treated. Joey is my stylist. I went in for highlights and a cut. He knew I did not want gray or silver highlights . He foiled my hair and I waited for the process. When time came for foils to be taken out Joey was with another client. Someone else took out the foils. I saw right away the highlights were silver. I wasn't happy. Called the owner next day. He took up for Joey and did not offer to a remedy for my hair. Mind you, I have used this Salon 3 years and have spent a small fortune on product. We are now in a dispute with cc company. I told the cc company I only wanted to dispute the highlights. I would be happy to pay for cut. The bill was $137.00. I am disputing $81.00. I got a letter from cc company and the owner accused me of defrauding him. After 3 years why would I all of a sudden decide to defraud. Will never ever go back. Cannot believe they did not offer a remedy and then stating I was defrauding them. I don't recommend this place. read more

First off, they got three stars because I love my hair. I went in with the 39.95 coupon that was supposed to get me a cut, style, color and conditioning treatment. It cost me well over a 100.00. I realized that the highlights were more but the stylist never told me that the glaze she was using was extra as well. Kinda feel like I was taken for a ride. New to the area I was searching for a salon and picked Salon Volo based on other reviews. I was glad I did!! It is in an odd location behind a car wash but don't let that fool you. It is very nice inside, most comfortable hair washing stations I have ever seen!! My stylist listened to what I wanted and made great suggestions. I LOVED the cut and color and now several weeks later it still falls right into place - to me, the mark of a good cut. First appointment today. Joey, a young stylist, who is meticulous and capable, cut and colored my hair. Definitely I will go back! Unbelievable but the lights went out due to a storm, which left the entire neighborhood without lights for some time. Did that stop him? Nope! With the help of 2 iphone flashlight apps, he went right on with his project, and got the coloring finished! The folks at this salon know what it means to put clients first, and are a friendly, competent group of artists. Went there for a haircut not too long ago, not until I got home and washed all the styling wax out that I noticed that it was cut unevenly. I asked for a blowout but shorter, and the outcome was a mild bowl cut. The best way to describe the haircut would be that I look identical to simple jack off Tropic Thunder.
