My FAVORITE SALON!!! I started going here in 2013 because I wanted to get my hair done somewhere close to home. I guess I tried it on a whim? It's the BEST whim ever! I go to Katrina, the owner, and the GAWDS are smiling! She is truly gifted! She "shuts it down" every single time she does my hair. The thing I love is that she's not afraid to introduce me to new things -- the quick weave??? Who knew??? I love it! In addition, I love that she respects my time. Gone are the days of spending your entire day in the salon! Her book is not jam-packed! I'm in-and-out! #love The salon? I've never been to a salon that I can call an oasis. She's made it that way. Her staff isn't ratchet and gossipy, which I can appreciate. I love the decor! Plus: She believes in giving back! I love it! My hair stylist is Courtney and she's awesome. She explains the steps she takes and products she uses to get the perfect style. Usually I get a flat iron, but today I got a quick weave and it's absolutely beautiful. She shampooed, blow dried and cornrowed my hair without pulling and yanking my head. My quick weave is cut and styled and easy enough for me to maintain and I didn't leave with a headache or my eyes pulled back into a slant. I recommend using Courtney for all your hair care needs. read more

I liked this salon until March 20th, 2015. Went in for my appointment... Stylist leaves to go get food. I was just going to get styled. After 30 minutes her assistant asked me if I just wanted to get washed and dried while we wait. I said ok. Assistant does everything to my hair and we are STILL waiting for the stylist. 30 minutes later she shows up to just curl another clients and my hair. Who leaves their salon for over an hour wen you have people that have appointments. Then she charged me twice on my credit card. Tried to called and message her to fix it... No reply. Oh... And this was my birthday!! Husband was pissed. So was I. Can't wait until her assistant finally moves to a new salon so I can just go to her. read more

Absolutely my favorite salon. I've been Katrina's client for many years. She cuts hair excellently. Even on some bad hair days, I still get compliments on my pixie cut. Don't go here!! This salon is terrible if its your first time getting hair extensions , & don't really know about it!! They'll take advantage of you!! One of the stylist (Tiffany ) charged me 500$ for two bundles of (fake hair, very cheap)(I went to a GOOD hair salon that actually cares about your hair, & she told me that the hair installed was very cheap & was virgin hair mixed with fake hair) Hair, & install. Long story short, the first time I went the tracks were showing, so I had to go in a second time. She practically yanked and pulled on my hair with no care at all, & sewed it all in. It looked way better then before but it was very uncomfortable. A couple months later I went to Tgf haircutters to take it out and the lady said she had actually sewed the hair extensions to my hair , which was causing the weight of the hair extensions and thread to pull & rip my hair out ! it took a couple hours for her to be able to take the rats mess out ,without having to cut off my own hair. It was a horrible experience and anyone with a hair texture like mines, will regret going here!! read more

I have been going to Karina Barlow, owner of Salon's on the Lake for the last 2 year. I would see Karina every other Thursday, when my work hours changed Karina came in extra early just for me to accommodate my new schedule. On a weekly bases I get complements on my hair, I have long natural hair which it has only grown longer and more healthy with Karina. Katrina believes in natural and non chemical products and will use as much as possible. read more

I had a consultation with a natural hair salon tonight in Houston. She immediately looked at my hair and said that I have heat damage. Wish I could rate zero stars. The owner Katrina charged me for a sew in and gave me a quick weave. I figured the style was simple so she couldn't mess it up. Yea right! It looked like o rolled out of bed instead of got my hair done professionally. I know they can't give you EXACTLY what's on the picture but this was no where near it. Burned my natural hair as well. STAY AWAY!!! I have been there more than once and the two stylists I had were garbage. I will wear my hair in a wrap before I come back to these no talent stylists. read more

This shop has so much potential, but sadly it falls short with the stylists and owner. Like every other black owned beauty salon my stylist (owner) was LATE (an hour and a half) and passed me off to her "assistant". People kept coming in ON TIME for their appts and they were so backed up they were sending people everywhere! I like how these people just assume we don't have lives. One girl, who was far from being completed, was late for work because of this foolishness. Anyways, I'm 100% natural and have been for a while now and take great pride in my curls. Like most naturals, my hair is thick yet fragile and needs that special extra attention to maintain its moisture and health. All I wanted was just a style. No shampoo, condition, nada..just a style. After waiting for over an hour the owner's assistant sat me down and proceeded to brush my hair with thick plastic bristles DRY!!! Ok, clearly this girl has no idea what she's doing and has never styled natural hair before. I kept having to tell her to wet my har a little to make it more manageable. She finally got the picture and three hrs later my hair was done. The style came out ok but not really what I was hoping for. Then I got charged $65 for all this nonsense. I will not be coming back to this joint. I don't like paying for sloppiness and tardiness. read more
