Just ordered the BBQ chicken pizza for the first time, best pizza I've ever had!! The breadsticks are to die for too! Love this place.

I just received my delivery with the wrong order and called the establishment to resolve the issue. I was met with multiple excuses and hung up on (multiple times). I will NOT be ordering from them ever again simply because of their poor customer service and failure to communicate. read more

Update*** Dropping this to 1 star. Had to go back due to friend requests to try it. I thought i would give it another shot. Got charged an extra $7! I called back and ordered the same exact order 15 mins later and the price changed. They gave me my money back but first had to argue with the owners son and his snobby comments. He rang it back up and viola! Price was cheaper. They gave me my money back. These people are up to no good back there because they know (Sadly) most of their clientele are young and might be too embarrassed to call them out on the shenanigans. I ordered a pizza and wings for my family. I waited an extra 10 minutes standing up in line. the old man/ cashier was rude, unwelcoming, & disrespectful. I paid $42 for a large pizza and a side of wings and a bottle of Pepsi. I regret paying for the food. It was dry and cold. I don't know if they did this intentionally because of how I look or how I dress. it was not worth it I regretted going there I should've left the food and not paid that guy a dime after I saw how rude he was. I looked at my receipt and I wanted to go over the receipt with him and he replied I don't have f...ing time for this. At that moment I I know it was a mistake to do business with this place but I continued for the sake of my family who were waiting for me to get them hot pizza and chicken wings. In conclusion, the owner is rude and disrespectful, and the food is not good, cold and dry, and the price is not worth it, it was over priced lousy food with lousy service. I regret going there. I do not recommend this place. Every time I pass by Sals pizza place I regret ever going there. I wish we stayed hungry all night until the next day instead of going there. This place makes very average pizza. I had high hopes as I heard from a friend that the halal pepperoni here is excellent as the restaurant gets it from a special butcher. I was disappointed to discover that the pepperoni was nothing too special. The pizza itself contained too much cheese and tasted very fatty, even for pizza standards. We also ordered the halal wing ding dinner and that too was a mistake. The chicken wings were way too salty, crunchy and oily and didn't have any real substance to the taste. The fries were below average and the coleslaw tasted spoiled. Overall this place was a disappointment and there are plenty of better pizza joints in Michigan. read more

I wish I could say that it's always perfect here, but the fact of the matter is, it's not. That being said, when it's good, it's really good. Sadly too many times they get our carry out order wrong, either forgetting items or forgetting to make it the way we ordered it. For example, I ordered a 1/2 veggie 1/2 cheese pizza with a garlic Parmesan crust, only for them to forget to flavor the crust. This is the second time they've done this to me so I guess it happens pretty often. Also, I've been overcharged a few times so pay close attention to your receipt. On the positive side when they do get your order right it can be down right delicious, for that reason alone I will continue to give them my business. read more

Minus the timing, which was fairly good, the place is considered to me to be a dump. Adults who act like children at work, rude on the phone and in person, orders are never right, they make up prices along the way, no real menu to look at online to match up with their prices they say over the phone and unfortunatatly, no one takes any action for any of this to stop. They really look at you as if you are the problem no matter how docile you are with the employees. I have choices when dining out and this will never again be an establishment of my choice. As much as I like this place I need to let the manager know that lately I have been getting the wrong orders. First time it happened, I said mistakes happen. SECOND time it happened, I called and complained. THRID TIME (TODAY), I am giving you this poor review , which one star would be too much. I want to get my complaint across to you, manager. The people who are working on the phone are not paying attention to what customers are asking. When you drive and go home with your order at 1 o'clock in the morning thinking you got what you ordered, but then you find something different; it really frustrates me. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Worst Pizza Place I have ever dealt with in my entire LIFE!! First if you can't handle the amount of business that you have then shut your doors. Rude is an understatement!!! I call and some loud girl answers "Sals Please Hold" and puts me on hold for 2 minutes in silence. Then comes back and says "what do you want to order" so I order and after each item she says "anything else" rushing me like no other!! Delivery or Pick up? I say delivery she's says 45 minutes to an hour then hangs up!! Umm...ok what's my total? It boils my blood!!! Worked a 15 hour shift no stress, one pizza order stressed me out in 2 minutes and 55 seconds. The order only took 55 seconds to place. I wanted salad and couldn't even order that! After a small high, I decided to order a pizza from Sal's around 2:10 am. Since they appeared to be open until 3 am. I called up and simply asked for a cheese pizza. They then asked me what I wanted on the pizza and harassed me on how they have had a long day. I ordered the pizza and then 5 minutes later I get a call back and they ask me if I still want the pizza!! Of course I want the pizza. Then 40 minutes later I call, get put on hold and then they couldn't find my address despite being in the same city and asked me for my crossroad. I still haven't received my pizza. read more

I've lived in this neighborhood for quite a while and I've been waiting for this little corner business to open. Back in the day it was a little candy store but now it's a full service pizza/Italian restaurant as well as a carryout. I've only had the carryout so I can't speak for the cafe side of the business. However, the pizza was excellent. Everyone was really friendly and the prices are reasonable. The pizza felt like a good heavy Italian slice. They also pasta among a ton of other things I'm looking forward to trying. I do believe the sauces are homemade. Desserts like cupcakes and cannolis are featured daily too. I ordered a carry out Chicken Parmesan very recently. I should begin by saying that the guys who work there are super nice and personable, and pack a smile when talking to you. You can tell they care about your business, which is a pleasant find in any restaurant. That said - moving on to the pizza. Though I enjoyed the fact that the pizza wasn't greasy at all - I was disappointed. I'm a pizza connoisseur and make it a point to try the best pies in any cities I visit. The crust at Sal's is neither crispy or soggy, but a chewy in between. Alas, it was bland and lacked flavor, almost like the more basic pita breads made here in Dearborn by various Arabic bakeries. It lacks salt and some seasoning. It's not at all awful, but it's not exactly inspiring either. And the same goes for the cheese. You can taste how the cheese and tomato sauce were kind of generic. The tomato sauce was also a bit acidic; it lacked a tiny bit of sugar and needed that robustness granted by pureeing lots of fresh veggies to make it thick and flavorful. It also had way too much oregano but lacked basil. The cheese was OK, but like any other random pizza chain's insomuch as taste. That said - the toppings were good. The tomatoes were freshly diced and pretty juicy. And the chicken was spectacular (despite going through the pizza oven, it was not at all dried-out, and full of juicy, smoky flavor). I really wanted to love this place as the guys working there were so nice and accommodating. But the pizza - well - it just isn't that great. It's alright, prepared fresh, and with love and decent ingredients. Another caveat is their store doesn't have any hours posted on the menu, the restaurant, or the website. Here's why: Sal says they open around 9am-10am, and usually close around 1am. However, they will stay open later than that if it's a weekend and the crazy kids are out partying and have a case of the late night munchies. In that case, Sal said they bake pies til it gets slow and the crowd kind of disappears. If you're in a pinch and want good, fast pizza with good service, that's also open late --- you could do worse than Sal's. read more
