I am first to say I LOVE Mexican food and I am extremely picky!! So I am very hard to convince. This place exceeded my expectations!! The service was great -- Thanks Brandon, and the chef Jose was amazing! We had a party of six, which we called ahead for, the moment we walked through the door the table was ready for us. The decor was brand new, so cute and inviting. The menu was great and had a lot of options! Even a great kids menu, for my two and half year old son. It is a BYOB restaurant, which they provided beer/wine glasses for us. The food was hot and delicious, the shrimp, steak, chicken salads and tacos were all phenomenal! Worst meal we've had in awhile. Nothing fresh about this place. First, I called to see if byob. I was told they make the margarita mix and I can bring tequila. The maragaritas came out. They were bright green and so sweet, it was clearly store bought mix. Our meals came, kids got tacos and quesadillas which were okay. 50 cents extra for sour cream which to me, this should be standard for a child's dish. My husband order the carnitas fajitas. He questioned the meal. It was on regular plate and he asked about peppers, gauc but was told that didn't come with the dish. It's our first time and we didn't know any better. Well someone else got fajitas and there's came on a skillet with onions and peppers. I asked why his wasn't served this way and come to find out, the order was put in incorrectly. He was ordered the meal and not fajita. Just a sorry with no attempt at a new dish or comp. My dish, the white enchiladas. Terrible. Shrimp thrown in flour tortillas with white sauce. The white sauce was the same as that crappy store bought queso sauce Tostitos makes. Beans were good, rice was just eh. I overheard one server saying how they haven't been as busy. Either people realize it's not good or the place has been cutting corners with premade items. $60 wasted. read more

Went here last night (11/21/17) for dinner. It was relatively busy when we walked in around 6:30 - there were four other tables occupied and three people waiting for takeout. Some sort of employee spat was being rectified at the front desk as we entered and my wife looked at me as if to say "you brought me here why?" We got our drinks (soda) pretty quickly but as there was only one person at the time serving, and it was our first time, we took our time with the menu and asked her to come back twice. We ordered one beef tostada and one chalupa for appetizers. The ground beef was very nicely flavored; not overly spicy and not extremely salty or overly chewy. If they sold a bowl of that with a spoon, I'd probably eat it. We also ordered guacamole with our chips and salsa. The chips were quite tasty; not overly salty and had a good heft, allowing to pick up salsa and guac without breaking easily. The guacamole was very good as well, but the portion was a little small. Refills on chips are not complementary. My carnitas platter was very good. The texture of the pork was a little different than I'm used to at other area Mexican restaurants, but the flavor was very, very good. The refried beans, pico de gallo, and rice on the plate were also quite tasty. There were pickled? jalapenos on the dish that I'm unable to eat, so I gave them to my wife. My wife had the Burrito Salsa Fresca (with chicken). I had a couple bites but some sort of jalapeno zing on it made it difficult for me to enjoy it. She really enjoyed it and killed almost half of it. (It was pretty sizable). We'll go back. read more

I really wanted to like this place more then I did. It is an adorable little restaurant right on the corner of a well maintained mini shopping strip. My friend and I came on a Friday night around 7 and we were seated immediately. The table was quite wobbly but we made it work. We were given chips & salsa to enjoy while we waited for our entrees. The chips and salsa were enjoyable but the table couldn't fit our food and the chips so our waitress took them away. (This made me really upset because I still planned to eat them) I ordered the vegetarian fajita and they were okay at best. The shells were very small and the shell to vegetable ratio was extremely disproportional. I also found the additional rice, guac, and lettuce side to be a tad skimpy. They sure did give me more then enough sour cream though (way too much). My friend ordered the pork chimichanga and said they were decent. Nothing over the top. Overall, it was not that bad. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. However, my expectations were not met. I would have loved to have a five star Mexican restaurant close by but I will have to settle for three. read more

Awful service. We waited over an hour for our food and it wasn't even that busy. We have been here several times hoping it would get better. Never will we go back. We ordered 4 virgin margaritas at 3.99 as posted on the menu. We should have sent it back as it tasted terrible They bought us a pitcher and when we got the bill they charged us $20 We could have had 8 beers at Esperanza for$20. Nice to finally have a Mexican restaurant in TWP. I ordered some late night take-out on CINCO de Mayo. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and steak tacos. I scarfed down the quesadilla....I ate one steak taco, the other two I finished a few days later. The bits of steak were a little larger than I am accustom to. (I eat a lot of authentic Mexican food in Philadelphia...so I know good tacos.) The taco at Salsa Fresca aren't like the authentic ones I get, which usually only have raw diced onions and cilantro and get served with a Salsa roja and an avocado free Salsa on a doubled up corn tortilla. The Salsa Fresca tacos had shredded lettuce and I think some sort of cheese with a Salsa that resembled a purchased Ortega Salsa...different, not authentic as I know it.... I know the owner, Lilo who own's Johnnys Pizza next door. He and his wife are Guatemalan. I am not sure if the cook is Mexican or not. Nonetheless, it was a decent first try. They were ill equipped to handle the crowd on cinco de mayo. Waiting time to be seated was only about 12 min., Waiter was young, helpful and attentive. Food was just average and it took over 40 min. to get the first plate. I was the last to receive my meal and my daughter was more than half done hers by that time. So the food was served in three waves. They were out of horchata (really on cinco de mayo). Don't waste your time here, there are many restaurants much better not far from this location. The first time I tried this place, I fell in love... My boyfriend and I came back the very next day! Everything is absolutely delicious. I've had a burrito, quesadilla, and a taco salad, and all were delicious. We have even brought a few of our friends here on separate occasions and they all love it. I've eaten a lot of authentic Mexican food. There was absolutely no flavor or seasoning one might associate with Mexican food in what we ordered. The side of refried beans was thin and skimpy. The salsa looked like someone had taken a jar of salsa and watered it down to stretch it farther. I could not recommend this place to anyone unless they were on some kind of bland diet requirements. We ordered take out from here. The person taking the order was friendly and repeated the order back perfectly. Told us is was $31. We had a coupon for $3 off a $30 order so I grabbed it. There was some confusion of my order when I arrived, but they eventually found it and I headed home. We ordered 3 shrimp tacos with flour tortillas, 2 shrimp tacos with corn tortillas, and a chicken taco with corn tortilla. And an order of the chorizo nachos. They wouldn't let us use the coupon because it was $28 before tax? Stupid, but whatever. Mixed reviews on the food. The shrimp tacos were really really good. The chicken wasn't bad. The nachos, however, were the worst nachos I think I've ever had. It was soggy, wilted, cold chips. The chorizo was dry and overly burnt. Like bad. There was a little bit of melted American cheese on the bottom of the container but that was about it not. It started to harden so you really couldn't put any on the chip. No lettuce, or any of the standard nacho toppings. Just terrible soggy chips, burnt chorizo, and a tiny bit of cheese underneath it all. Just horrible. Overall, I think I'll go to Mariachi next time we crave Mexican. But this place wasn't THAT bad. Just stay away from the nachos. read more
