Such a great experience at El Mariachi San Lucas! The restaurant is colorful, vibrant, and has such a cute atmosphere for a date night, girls' night, family dinner, or celebration. Everything we tried was delicious. We started with chips and salsa, then had the elote, fresh guacamole, Baja fish tacos, and cheese and crab empanadas. For our entrées, we tried their signature molcajete served sizzling in a volcanic stone bowl, carne asada with shrimp, chile relleno, and chicken enchiladas. We finished with the tres leches and flan, which were both so good! I also love that they're BYOB. We brought our own tequila, and they provided the mixers and glasses with our choice of sugar, salt, or Tajín rims. Our server Jessica was amazing, attentive, and made our experience even better. I was happily surprised by the food here: it's pretty good and fresh tasting. Husband got the beef biria tacos and he enjoyed it (he loved drinking all the extra juice)! I had the shrimp tacos and honestly they were not what I was expecting but maybe that was my fault (i though they were going to be hot, but it contained all cold ingredients: cold shrimp, sour cream, queso fresco, cold chopped tomatoes and cold flour tortillas). I'd still come here again but would just order something different. We did have amazing elote, so I would suggest ordering that: it's $7 per corn cob but totally worth it! For dessert with had the churros with ice cream and that was the most amazing dessert ever! We sat outside and enjoyed the calmness but service was a little slow because of that. Every single time I try something new here, it becomes my new favorite. Whether you're doing takeout or dining in, this restaurant has always been my number one go-to for Mexican food in the area. You just can't get better than this anywhere around here, including Philadelphia. If I go to ANY other mexican restaurant, this is the restaurant I compare it to, and nothing has lived up to it. We opted to sit on the side of the building that they've converted to an really cute outside dining area. We ordered. I wanted something small I I ordered "a" carnitas tostada, well it came as three. Loaded with cheese and flavorful retried black beans with just enough pork carnitas. This dish was good but I do wish the pork was caramelized a bit more and it had a little bit more flavor..but I'd definitely order again if in the area. We ordered guacamole, it was excellent. Chips and salsa, chips a tad to thick for me but very fresh. Red and green salsa was great. The red had just a hint of heat at the end. The green, I loved the abundance of cilantro. The chipotle crema was ok. My husband liked his enchiladas and I tasted the sauce, again full of flavor. My brothers relleno was huge and picture perfect but the cheese was strange. Major cheese pull, he had a hard time eating it. Had to twirl on his fork like spaghetti. But again, he loved the taste. Overall this was a great affordable meal. Friendly accommodating team. Nice and clean dining room and restrooms. Food was exceptional - especially any of the sauces, salsas etc were so incredibly flavorful. Seem to do a good takeout business as well, as we saw DoorDashers coming and going to the little counter all night. They have a little display case with to-go desserts at the hostess desk. (TRES LECHES!!!) Soda's are all bottled, not fountain. No alcohol, but you can BYOB and add it to some mixers they offer - like margarita by the glass or pitcher. Parking lot is tiny for a strip mall that is almost exclusively dining options, but we managed to find a spot in the back by the dumpsters. The overall experience checked every box. Have been to several special occasion dinners at El Mariachi. They always make it nice. My daughter is vegan and always asks for dairy-free, meat-free items. They are always happy to accommodate her. Saturday afternoon and we had a sudden craving for Mexican food, specifically nachos. I suggested Mariachi San Lucas because I recall their nachos (and their food in general) being superb and the drive being on the shorter end. It's been a couple of years since my mom and I have been and it was my girlfriend's first time. We arrived around 3:45 and had were the only guests in the restaurant. It is BYOB so we brought a bottle of wine and they supplied the wine glasses. Our server was really nice and more than accommodating. We had a few questions and a couple requests and everything we asked was of no issue at all. The restaurant also seemed like it was decorated for Spring. Both my mom and girlfriend said it was cute inside. They started us off with homemade chips and some delicious salsas. Soon after we placed our order more guests started arriving. I guess we ended up going at a weird time right between lunch and dinner but by the time we were finished eating the place was full. We decided to split chicken nachos between the 3 of us and to each get our own entree. My girlfriend ordered a chicken burrito enchilada style in green sauce. My mom had chicken enchiladas in green sauce. I finally broke after years of wanting to try a molcajete bowl and loved it. I chose red guajillo sauce which is the least spicy of their two options. It came with beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, and avocado and was bubbling and steaming long after it was placed in front of me. The sauce had great flavor and the meat was tender. I couldn't even finish the entire dish because the portion size was so large. My mom and girlfriend had leftovers as well. Everyone enjoyed their food to say the least. I can't believe it's been so long between visits for me especially with how short of a drive I have. The food was great and so was the service. I will be back again soon. Everything tasted so good and although service was a bit slow (they started to get packed) it was worth it and our server was communicative and pleasant. Margaritas were very good, I should've asked for not salt on the rim but it was still good. The appetizer was amazing. The shrimp and mango with lime was perfect. It was a great combo with the chips; perfect mixture of sweet, tart and hot, we all loved this. The nachos weren't bad either. That Al Pastor taco was great, pork mixed with pineapple....great idea and so fulfilling. I heard that the dorados were good but the chicken tasted a bit dry. I was so happy I got to finally try out this place in person! They have a beautiful patio outdoor that has several tables and lights out for when it gets darker. We sat outside and our server was great and very helpful! We had heard you could bring your own tequila, so we ordered their virgin margaritas to go with our tequila. It was a great deal since they were only $4 a glass then! The peach, regular and watermelon flavors were all so good and you could tell it was made from real fruit. The food was also delicious!
