Hate to give this restaurant such a low review but if m being honest the food was less than stellar. The photos are beautiful but for instance the seafood soup tasted like frozen seafood. Period. The chicken was very tough and tasteless. Even the black beans lacked taste. Tasted my other party's food and it was constantly bad. The waitresses were super patient and sweet. Pretty expensive when the local Mexican Chain restaurants are much tastier.

For my brother-in-law's birthday, we asked him to choose the spot for dinner. And Restaurante Colosio was at the top of his list. After having enjoyed a dinner there, I can see why he chose it. The restaurant was largely empty when we arrived, but don't let that fool you into thinking you're not in store for a great dinner. We were immediately shown a table and menus. And shortly thereafter, the free chips covered in beans in cheese came out, with a couple of salsas on the side. This was a fun twist on the normal free chips you get at a Mexican restaurant. For my entree, I went with the Enchiladas Verdes o Rojas. I chose to go with the red sauce, and this was made with cheese, onion, avocado and rice. Rather than chicken or steak, I paid a little more to get shrimp. This dish was simple, delicious and ample. It was great Mexican comfort food. I might switch to chicken, though, if I got this again. The shrimp were on the small side. I also tried my husband's Enchiladas de Mole Poblano. The mole on this was delicious and a bit on the sweeter side. If you like mole that's a little heavier on the chocolate, this would be your dish. Restaurante Colosio is BYOB, so feel free to bring some drinks along. I also ordered a horchata. If you want some great Mexican food in Swedesboro, give Restaurante Colosio a try.

Chicken burrito served on a plate

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food this is the place! Everything tastes so fresh and delicious. I got the chicken burrito served on a plate. Rice was delicious however the chicken was a bit dry. I would recommend the bistec instead! Overall was delighted with my meal, would definitely come back!

Este lugar es excelente!!! Do not miss the enchiladas con mole poblano. The mole is divine, the shredded chicken great quality. Also got Guac, a chicken burrito, and huevos a la mexicana, and a flan. It was all just perfect.

Very good authentic Mexican food. The restaurant itself could use a little love, but the food was very good. Friendly service.

Best Mexican food in town by far. Prices have gone up quite a lot from what is shown online.

The food was okay at best. Asked for simple things and they didn't have it. If advertising you have it on the menu then have it -period.

My order total was roughly $20 after taxes, tip, and a random $1 online ordering fee. Since I added so many sides, I decided to check on my order when I picked it up. The sides were correct, except I erroneously ordered queso fresco instead of queso blanco (womp), but the tacos were covered in tomatoes. They corrected it and made me fresh tacos in just a few minutes, which I appreciated. My first bite into the tacos tasted like pure salt. Unfortunately, they didn't get any better. They were also pretty greasy, and my stomach wasn't a huge fan by any means. I ordered them with hard shell tacos, which was an upcharge, and they tasted way overcooked. All told, I just didn't enjoy the dish. The chips were extra salty too. I heard the rice was good though. I'm probably being generous with a 3-star rating, but I'm hoping it was just a bad night for them. It does seem like this spot is hit or miss based on other reviews here. I wouldn't be opposed to trying them once more on a future trip to Jersey, maybe next time I'll do a sit-down dinner, as their dining space looked quite nice and they even had outdoor seating too.

The Real Deal: If you're in the mood for some authentic Mexican food, handmade tortillas and fresh,…read moresavory ingredients definitely show this restaurant some love. FYI: it's tucked away inside of a small shopping center. Be Careful: They serve complimentary tortilla chips and 4 different dipping sauces, which are all different levels of spicy (the red sauce being least spicy and the green the hottest). But the level of spice will sneak up on you, so try a little bit at a time because the kick will come with the after taste. These spices are hand-crafted and unlike any I've had at even some of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to. Come Hungry: The portions are big so come hungry because it will be the last meal you'll need for the day. Feel Good Eating Here: The server we had was patient, kind and willing to explain what certain things were that we didn't understand on the menu. She made recommendations and advised us about the spice level of certain items. I took off one star because it was kind of cold in there. They had an ineffective space heater I guess to supplement the building heat but it wasn't sufficient. But all in all, I'd still recommend.
