Very good authentic Mexican food. The restaurant itself could use a little love, but the food was very good. Friendly service.

Pretty decent, completely authentic restaurant down in Swedesboro. Firstly, don't be fooled by the store front, this place is a LOT bigger than it looks, and is fine for sit down dining. The menu is good, with plenty of options, but we were a little disappointed as the on site menu is very different from the online menu, and we were SUPER excited to try some of the desserts we saw, NONE of which were available anymore. Also, the prices were vastly different as well; the kids quesadilla and fries was a more than reasonable $5 online, but much, much less of a deal at $10 in person. Service was fine, and we didn't have any issues. Our waitress spoke spanish completely with The Misses, so I'm not even sure if they DO speak English here. I got the al pastor tacos, which were fine, and The Misses got chicken tacos, which she said were "a little dry." She finally asked for a side of sour cream to help them go down. The little ones quesadilla and fries was fine, and actually had some good sized chicken chunks, so that wasn't bad. We used to be in this area every Wednesday, and would have definitely gone back, but now that we're not, I'm not sure that we'll make the trip back for it. If you're local, it's certainly not a bad meal. read more

Authentic and fresh! This has been our go to take out Mexican. Never disappoints and worth the drive from DE.

We are visiting from out of state looking for homes in the area. Between showings, I found this restaurant. We were the only ones dinning in for lunch, but many locals were carrying out. I apologize for the lack of photos, I was too hungry and it slipped my mind. The employees were very nice and accommodating to my vegan request. They made a platter of mushrooms, onions and peppers with rice, beans, avocado, and lettuce. The food was superb! My husband got Al pastor and Bisteck tacos, he closed his eyes and had a spiritual experience with his first bite. He said it was comparable to food we had in New Mexico (best Tex-mex ever) My daughter got the Combo Colosio, it was a HUGE amount of food. My son had the kids menu fajita that he thoroughly enjoyed. My only complaint was that it was very cold in the dining room. read more

Hate to give this restaurant such a low review but if m being honest the food was less than stellar. The photos are beautiful but for instance the seafood soup tasted like frozen seafood. Period. The chicken was very tough and tasteless. Even the black beans lacked taste. Tasted my other party's food and it was constantly bad. The waitresses were super patient and sweet. Came here after not passing the generic entry level cyber security exam of which um the post course assessment did not help me prep for at all. I came here because Spicy Affair which is where I really wanted to go only did dine j. After 4 and only take out before that and it was after 1pm So I walk in and am greeted right away by who I assume is the owner as there's no one in around maybe 1:24 I ask the server if they recommend anything and there is language barrier so she gets the owner. Still barrier so I just say I want the tortilla soup and the 5 tacos item on menu that is really meant to be 3 tacos. I have bad eyes so May have misread I got the Al pastor, chorizo and shrimp. The shrimp very very small pieces , tacos come out with like wedges and some radish I think? 2 small taco soft shells for each and while decent portion it was just so so asi asi The soup was ok no heat with avocado in it n soft tortilla strips as if they may have been in the whole time? Wasn't terrible but I'm not seeking out this spot after another failed exam since it's maybe 10 min from testing site I'll visit again lol. Maybe better to order something else read more

Ever since I moved to Jersey from Philly I have had a tough time finding good Mexican. It's all Mexican-American. Not here. It is Mexican-Mexican. The portions are huge and the prices are great. Will definitely be back. read more

For my brother-in-law's birthday, we asked him to choose the spot for dinner. And Restaurante Colosio was at the top of his list. After having enjoyed a dinner there, I can see why he chose it. The restaurant was largely empty when we arrived, but don't let that fool you into thinking you're not in store for a great dinner. We were immediately shown a table and menus. And shortly thereafter, the free chips covered in beans in cheese came out, with a couple of salsas on the side. This was a fun twist on the normal free chips you get at a Mexican restaurant. For my entree, I went with the Enchiladas Verdes o Rojas. I chose to go with the red sauce, and this was made with cheese, onion, avocado and rice. Rather than chicken or steak, I paid a little more to get shrimp. This dish was simple, delicious and ample. It was great Mexican comfort food. I might switch to chicken, though, if I got this again. The shrimp were on the small side. I also tried my husband's Enchiladas de Mole Poblano. The mole on this was delicious and a bit on the sweeter side. If you like mole that's a little heavier on the chocolate, this would be your dish. Restaurante Colosio is BYOB, so feel free to bring some drinks along. I also ordered a horchata. If you want some great Mexican food in Swedesboro, give Restaurante Colosio a try. read more

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food this is the place! Everything tastes so fresh and delicious. I got the chicken burrito served on a plate. Rice was delicious however the chicken was a bit dry. I would recommend the bistec instead! Overall was delighted with my meal, would definitely come back! read more

This was the best Mexican food we have ever tasted. This is not Tex Mex and while we really had no idea what we were ordering (for some reason our cell service in this area is terrible and we couldn't Google) and our server spoke Spanish and we do not, we took a leap. The crepa was fantastic. Pollo quesadilla was the best quesadilla we have ever had. And the molcajetta was THE BEST thing we have ever eaten. This place is small and not fancy and absolutely delicious. Take a risk and check it out. You can't go wrong. read more

Guys. GUYS. Eat at Colosio's. Their food is so fresh and so delicious. I haven't had anything I didn't love. Anyone who reads my reviews of Mexican cuisine knows I start with chicken enchiladas and salsa verde. This doesn't disappoint. The verde is bright, spicy and not too thick or thin. The enchiladas are yummy, with juicy chicken. It's served with rice and beans, which I usually save for a lunch the next day. They're so good on their own. Also, their homemade chips and Guac are SO DELICIOUS. I could make their chips a meal on their own. Head to Colosio's. They're lovely! read more

Best Mexican food in South Jersey. Hands down. Me and boyfriend saw this place when we were in Swedesboro for the Harry Potter Festival in October 2017 (also pretty legit for a first try, btw). We like to eat Mexican on St Paddy's Day so we made a mental note to make this our place for St Paddy's Day 2018. First, it's BYOB. So we made a pitcher of mojitos and brought that baby with us. (It could have been margaritas but I won the snow depth bet from the 2nd noreaster and I wanted mojitos so: wompwomp, boyfriend.) When we walked in, we saw that they had a big fridge filled with Mexican cokes so boyfriend ordered one of those as well. He had to drive so he needed to pace himself. Upon seeing the menu, we were overwhelmed because it was huge. The server brought us out some chips and mole with some spicy stuff that. Chips and mole were noms to start so we got pretty excited for dinner. We ordered tostadas with carnitas (choice of any taco meat on the menu!) to get our bellies going. I expected something like nachos but with smashed fried plantains instead of chips, but not here! Here it was like 2 round flat and hard taco shells, with a mound of meat, lettuce, and cheese on each. We weren't sure how to eat it but we did our best, made a mess, and it was delicious. For dinner, boyfriend ordered the fajitas mixta and I ordered the fish tacos. Fajitas mixta could easily be shared by 2 people because it comes with a giant mound of meats and veggies. The veggies were crisp, fresh, and colorful. My fish tacos were amazing - little fried fishes topped with guacamole (so fresh) and some tomatoes and onions. Both dishes came with rice, which we decided to put inside our tacos/fajitas. Fajitas also came with beans. We were so stuffed. Between the mojitos and the food, I was in a state of bliss I had never quite experienced before from eating Mexican food. Probably could have benefitted from a walk around town afterward but it was cold and I wasn't dressed properly for that. Definitely give it a try. You will not be disappointed! read more

The BEST most authentic Mexican Restaurant in Gloucester County. South of Rt 42 for sure! WOW. At first the menu might seem pricey. but the portions are HUGE. Elote corn appetizer was super! If you have not had Elote. And your love Corn! a must have! I ordered Huevos ala Mexicana. 7 corn tortillas included? what?? The flavor profiles are authentic and complex! The plaintain dessert with coffee liqour and ice cream is a truly memorable dessert. Coffee essense strong at first, then ice cream flavor comes through, then BAM the sweet maduro plantain at the end! 3 Flavors in one bite! The interior is nothing to write home about And the employees do speak english. The grilled chicken in the kids meal was ehhh. but who gets grilled chicken kids meal at an authentic mexican place. Great place!! Super authentic, so fresh and so tasty. Came here on my lunch break today, everyone in the office raved about it so I had to try it. When you sit down, you get complementary chips with a brown (bean?) sauce on top and sides of homemade salsas that are to die for. I got the tortilla soup, incredible. I added some hot sauce to it, and it was so flavorful with fresh avocados on top! There was some cheese in there and big chunks of chicken. Also, I got the chicken tacos (didn't realize there was going to be 3--but I am happy with the leftovers) they were so yummy and fresh. The cilantro and onions was a nice touch. Visited in mid-Aug 2021, with two hungry men. We parked on the street near the place. We entered and stood there in the empty front dining room until a male staff member acknowledged us about 5 minutes later. We said we had a reservation, but he didn't ask us our name nor did he need to. He seated us in the back dining room, which was half full with other diners. The food was fine but the service was slow and inefficient. Our server smiled and seemed kind, however, and that makes a difference when one is famished yet forced to wait almost an hour for simply prepared Mexican food. Her English wasn't that great, so there's that . . . I normally adore chocolaty, nutty mole, but wasn't a fan of this sweeter variety. The housemade guacamole is the star here, freshly prepared and offered in two sizes. Tables are offered a small complimentary nacho chips too, but you get more when you order the quac. Mexican sodas, with flavors like grapefruit, add some authenticity to an otherwise insipid back-dining room. (Please consider adding more of the vibrant, colorful regional decor to the walls for greater ambiance.) We were a bit shocked at the price--$95.79, with tip--for 3 entrees, 3 pops, and one large shared guacamole. read more

We have been to Colosio two times since moving to the area and enjoy it quite a bit. We have had the Enchiladas Mole as well as the Enchiladas Verde. We have also ordered their chips and salsa. The mole is pretty solid but on the sweeter side so if you don't like your mole quite sweet I would probably avoid that. Their salsa and chips are both very fresh and good. The enchiladas come with fresh sliced avocados on them which is a really nice touch. Definitely very solid Mexican food and I recommend it/ will go back again. 4 stars instead of 5 because I wasn't blown away by any means but doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend it to people. This is my favorite place for Mexican. The steak nachos are SO yummy (love the refried beans) and tacos al pastor are a hit every time. Just tried the cachete and the carnitas tacos today--both were delicious, especially the cachete! I love that they give such generous portions. We absolutely love the food at Colosio! It's our absolute favorite restaurant in Swedesboro. Their food is fresh and authentic! I only hope that they can improve their phone system as many times they are unable to answer the phone because it's always very busy there. The food is so good that regardless of their phone system, sometimes we will just go inside to order takeout. Our favorite is their super fresh guacamole!
