At the time Justin Timberlake's little brother Jonathan was one of my students as well and I remember he took to dance really well. I taught 3 to 4 classes a day from 8 years old to the teenagers and a mommy class on Fridays. Those were the good ole days in Memphis, but if you're ever in Germantown and you have the need to get your dance on please go to this studio.

Each spring, students work together and put on a big recital, for which parents have to stand in line to buy tickets. Costumes, production, the whole shebang. Rehearsals are daily the week prior to the program. Every other week of the school year, students attend a weekly class. The little ones take in the downstairs classrooms, accessed either through a back door (which they don't want anyone using when weather is cold, because it puts a chill on the downstairs studios), or through the painfully tight upper lobby and down a set of metal spiral stairs. When classes change, this is a truly hectic scene. I've started just dropping my 3 year old daughter in the lobby to walk herself down, because the stairs make me so nervous! In the changing area/restroom, something is always broken or out of order. The big dance area upstairs is a beautiful space, with plenty of room, great windows, and the tweens and teens seem to take their classes up there. The little girls are allowed to wear whatever leotard they like to classes, as long as they have appropriate dance shoes and purchase the tap shoes provided by the studio (they must all match for the show). Hair is to be up in a bun when possible, and not in a bow. When we came to join the studio in the fall, we may have caught the staff at a bad time. Miss Deborah, the dance teacher for the little ones, had just driven to Chicago and then lost her phone while she was up there. I never could get anyone on the phone from the actual studio, and have not been able to get much information from them via email. Your best bet is just to come into the studio between 4-5:30 one afternoon, to get information in person. It sounds from this review that it is a terrible place, but my daughter *adores* her hour-long ballet class, Miss Deborah, and the other little ballerinas. As long as she continues to enjoy it, we'll keep her enrolled. Maybe someday they'll expand, or get a bigger space. Until then, keep handing out the stickers, and we'll keep paying!

Nevertheless, I attended an African Dance class there. But as I entered, I could see all of the young ballet students exiting. So I had a few minutes to explore before my class started and just let me say that I was thoroughly impressed with everything! The environment was clean, modern, open, and inviting. The floors were beautiful, and the classrooms had floor to ceiling mirrors! Beautiful! I can't wait to go back to actually attend a performance!

I made a custom glass fusing project; not the normal coaster size but a gorgeous 10 x 10 sun catcher. She provided all the materials and tools, will fire it, and I can pick it up in a day or two. I've never done this before, but it was so much fun and the result was beautiful. She also teaches glass blowing (I'm going to take that class, too!) and has demonstrated at the Pink Palace for years. The only drawback is that she's only in town one week a month. The play was about the holiday, of course, but also how Christmas is celebrated in several different Latin American countries. The Evergreen Theater is located on Poplar, across from India Palace restaurant. The theater is small, but clean and cozy. side note: restrooms passed, very clean The musical was awesome! It was very lively, and everyone seemed to have fun. The musical was mainly in Spanish, but it fit really well, and there were parts and explanations in English here and there. I liked that both languages were intertwined and it made no one feel alienated. Even if you didn't know the words, the actors did well and you could put two and two together with a lot of the stories. My Spanish luckily isn't that far out of tune, so I understood more of it than I thought I would. I thought the origin stories for the piñata and poinsettia were neat. The piñata was originally a symbol of destroying your sins, with the seven points representing the seven deadly sins, and the poinsettia referring to a lesson that any gift given with love will always be acceptable to Him. I'll give this one a rating: Christmas in many lights. Holidays are all about traditions and coming together. It's always important to embrace both our similarities and differences, but also to let someone else's stories have their time in the light. Definitely recommend this one

Leaving festival-goers with a wonderful experience Memphians & visitors alike will remember for a lifetime that they'll return next year for another wonderful experience. When it comes to Festivals in the Memphis area i've always enjoyed The Memphis Italian Festival compared to Music Fest & a variety of others which seem to offer very little or nothing in entertainment value. This is the one festival I look forward to every year as I enjoy the games vendors, food, family & fun every last weekend in May. Whenever I attend festivals such as the Memphis Italian Festival. I'm always going around to each vendor & see what each vendor offers. I'm always left amazed discovering a vendor that I've never heard about before. The vendors I discovered in years past I still shop with some of them or refer them by word of mouth like here on Yelp or social media outlets. What also impresses me being & is a highlight for me would be the cooking demos & every year they start out with last year's sauce winners who'll do a cooking demo of their favorite Italian dish. When the demonstration is over audience members get to sample what was cooked by the cooking team. When the cooking team is done they'll be a local restaurant ready to give the audience a demonstration of their dish. The chefs from the restaurant that are representing will show everyone how they cook their appetizers or entrees. After they've finished showing the audience on how they made their dish everyone gets to sample what was cooked & enjoy it. The biggest closer to a majority of Festivals would be the bands they've asked to perform for festival-goers. Every year Memphis Italian Fest will always have a big name band perform at the end of the night closing out the festival. This year's band happened to be Ingram Hill & I thoroughly enjoyed the show as they're my favorite band. Every year is hit or miss when it comes to the music acts but for the past 3 years I've enjoyed Gin blossom Train and of course Ingram Hill. That's just a small variety of what is offered & I would recommend to anyone looking for a simple inexpensive ($10-$15 admission) festival to attend. This would be the festival to enjoy with your family and friends. I have thoroughly enjoyed it every year regardless of what some yelpers on here had to say comparing it to other festivals in a unfair comparison. Between the music, dancing, vendors, contests, and FOOOOOOD, I wanted to spend the whole weekend here. Yeah, it might rain, but this is Memphis and it is May...so you kinda expect it...and deal with it. Plus, it gives you the chance to wear those cute rain boots you bought for 50% off that one time. This is a wonderful, local festival that is held each fall. This year's festival is September…read more25-26. It is held on the grounds of the Cordova Community Center which is a historic area in the heart of "old Cordova." It has maintained it's small town feeling and is a fun event with families or just with a girlfriend. I like it because it is small, easy to manage and you always find lots of unique items. I go with my mom and we get a pronto pup, glass of lemonade and we browse all of the booths. I always find seasonal, holiday items and hand made jewelry. The weather is usually great this time of year and it is a good outdoor event.
