Ample parking here, and I dare to say that there isn't a rush to come here. A lot of parking goes unused here as there really isn't much to make you want to come here. And yes, everyone hates that hermit crabs are kept in filthy tanks for clueless tourists to buy - many of which are no longer even alive. It's cruel and grotesque in this day and age. So here's hoping the evil overlords will see the numerous complaints and stop torturing defenceless hermit crabs.

A staffer with a silver bob followed me through the store but never said anything to me - not "let me know if I can help you" or "we're having a 20% sale!" (I knew about the sale because she told every single person who came in while I was there - except for me.) She didn't offer me a fitting room and when I was done, she immediately went in and grabbed the two items I had tried on but never asked "how did those fit?" (I hung both items back up neatly so it's not that i made a mess.) I didn't buy anything. In contrast, I got a lovely greeting at Donna Designs (and bought earrings), and struck up conversations with the staff at Outer Barks (bought a harness for my dog, and a T-shirt), as well as at Amity and Allie June (did not buy anything, but took their business card). I think I looked as well-dressed as the other customers at Barr-ee so maybe the staffer disliked my hat? My linen slacks? Too bad. I might've bought something but will not plan to be back. Have never before felt this level of suspicion in 20 years of coming to OBX. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

We had picked up a shirt that we were going to buy and she came up behind and took it and then continued to speak rudely. We were surprised with that reaction so we left. My friends later went back in to ask why they were treated that way and she denied it (very rudely) and then went on to say that "wouldnt be the first time i've caught someone", to clarify we were wearing tank tops and jean shorts and were absolutely not trying to steal...if she thinks that she can rewind the tapes.
