I've become a big fan of Salt-N-Pepper recently. Big sandwiches with a solid amount of meat and cheese, tons of options and add-ons, tasty and affordable new options like quesadillas and tacos. I came here many times in the 90's/2000s for lunch. So did a lot of fairfaxians and marinites. The new chef and owner has brought this classic deli back to the level of quality i remember from that time. Get a sandwich to go on your way to the beach. Hang out in town at the park. Awful! It was a to go order. Possibly the worst sandwich I've ever had. It was supposed to be French dip with horseradish and au jus and Swiss cheese. I specifically asked that the cheese be melted and the bread toasted. It was not toasted and the cheese was not melted. There was no horseradish and the beef- tasted fake. Found this cute sandwich shop while on a walk. The outside was a little unassuming, but the inside was trendy and clean. The cashier was warm and very inviting when asking about what was popular and what's recommended. I ended up going for the chicken pesto sandwich and really enjoyed it. The bread was pillowy and the chicken had a nice crisp to it. Definitely might be my new go-to sandwich place when I'm in the area! read more

Salt-N-Pepper is going to be my new go-to sandwich shop! I love that I can walk down from my house and grab a fantastic sandwich and extras and walk back home. The husband and I stopped in on New Year's Day to grab sandwiches for dinner later. Hey, lunch for dinner is just as good as breakfast for dinner! I ordered the sandwiches online and they were ready when we arrived. The husband ordered a Hot Reuben with a side of fries, and I ordered the Turkey and Cranberry. We also ordered a side of calamari and cookies. Everything was fantastic! The portions were perfect and the food was delicious. Another plus for Salt-N-Pepper is that the customer service was top notch! The nicest employees ever who had amazing energy. The place is very clean and spacious inside. From ordering to picking up, to the actual food, everything was excellent! I am looking forward to my next visit to Salt-N-Pepper! read more

I can't complain, though so far I've only been once. I used to always just get the breakfast sandwiches on soft rolls at the old Peri's, preferably with one meat, usually sausage, veggies, cheese, egg, mayo and butter, and these were just as good and still reasonably priced. Out with the old and in with the new! Salt-N-Pepper has been completely renovated inside; it looks good and is super clean. I stopped by today and got a Berry Blast smoothie. The employees seemed happy, and the customer service was good. I'll be back to give more items on their menu a try and will update this review with my findings. read more

Ordered a Surfer Special on Sweet French Roll. Took 15 minutes get sandwich to go. I open sandwich at home at it was made with squishy white sliced bread. So sandwich is falling apart. Sure, I was disappointed they closed but times change and I gave the new place a chance with an open mind, mouth, and wallet. It's clean and well lit. The service is friendly. But that doesn't make up for the dismal food quality. The clam chowder has the color and consistency of Elmer's wood glue, and barely any clam or flavor. The French dip jus had no beef flavor, and the sandwich contained two rolls of sliced roast beef, so it felt like biting into particle meat. The bread was fresh, but hardly toasted enough. The soda fridges that line the walls make it feel like a 7/11 except at dining prices. Disappointing. read more

Sorry to see Perry's gone but very pleasantly surprised with the sandwich I ordered (chicken). I've been there four times in the last two weeks and each time I'm quite pleased with the product and the service. I do agree with another post that the interior is quite bright but that doesn't bother me as long as it's kept clean. This is not a spot for a romantic evening out in a warm cozy ambiance...really good chicken sandwiches! I believe it is owned and operated by the owners of the Indian restaurant next door (Lotus) of which I also have been a customer since it opened and also recommended. read more

Unlike others, this is not a comparison to what was there before. This is only about the sandwich I had today: Tuna melt. I give it a solid two stars. It was dry and salty. The sourdough bread... chewy. The portions of tuna was thin. It was a thin, plain, salty sandwich... and certainly not worth the price. Oh, and who puts crispy onions on a Tuna Melt? And where is the sliced tomato? There's better in town. And I should've gone to that other place. Next time I will for sure! I hope the new owners listen to the criticisms. Wow, trash. I had the chicken wrap at salt n pepper and it was terrible. The chicken was dry and tasteless, and the wrap fell apart as soon as I picked it up. The filling was sparse and lacked any real flavor. The condiments were bland and added nothing to the overall taste. It was a disappointing and unsatisfying experience. The remodel of Salt and Pepper is indeed impressive. I wish the food quality matched. Twice I ordered my two favorite sandwiches: the Reuben with melted cheese and the Pastrami and cheese. I could not detect anything resembling cheese except maybe a yellowish substance spread on the bread of both sandwiches. Regarding the meat both the pastrami and the corned beef were bland leading me to suspect they maybe using very ordinary quality pre sliced meats. These sandwiches are on the hot menu but neither was hot by a long shot. A classic pastrami or corned beef sandwich should hot and dripping with melted cheese. On top of that I ordered both sandwiches on dark rye which is traditional for these classic sandwiches. Both came on white bread without explanation. I wish this long time Fairfax business nothing but good luck but I suggest they take a hard look at their ingredients and procedures. By comparison the Inverness Park Market is famous for it West Marin Reuben created for them a few years ago by chef Ed Vigil. It's so good that I cannot drive through town without stopping for one. read more

We miss Perry's. As many of these reviews state, the energy of the place has changed for the worst and so have the sandwiches, most importantly. Not to mention, they rarely get the sandwich order right. PSA for people with gluten allergies: The gluten free bread used to be large and not crumbly, and unfortunately they have switched to what seems like one of Trader Joe's gluten free breads which is a quarter of the size of what it used to be for the same price. The cashier today was super sweet and tried to help me. The cook on the other hand tried to tell me that I was receiving the same amount as any other sandwich. (Which for the record, they did put more meat inside of it than what the bread could handle, encouraging the GF bread to crumble more than it already would've and the bread to sandwich ingredient ratio was so out of whack making it even more unenjoyable.) read more
