On my day off I took a little solo "progressive lunch" journey where I like to stop along the way in Marin County and try three or four different places. My first spot at Strawberry Village was disappointing, so I popped in here and was greeted by the ever so friendly and humorous server named Ty. I love his energy and ability to work the whole room in an efficient manner. I had the $17 pancake with tax, tip, etc. I really enjoyed it and watching the floor show put on was quite entertaining! I arrived before the crowd started popping in, and then it quickly picked up with hungry, eager customers. Next time I'll have a real meal, but I might have to stop at the bank first. Great spot, terrific service, nice environment, easy to park across the street in the free parking lot Fairfax is a terrific town to browse through as well. I stumbled into "Sonas" across the street and had a great conversation with the proprietor GERRY. This is a hipster, eclectic clothing, boutique for women and men. We were recommended to this restaurant by our neighbors, they've raved about it for at least a year and we finally made it on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated immediately upon arrival and given the option of indoor or outdoor seating. Ty was our server and our service was great. I wanted an apple martini, they were unable to accommodate the apple but Ty made me a custom mango martini which was tasty. We ordered a Reuben sandwich with chili cheese fries, and a rosemary chicken sandwich with fries. I did not try the Reuben sandwich but the rosemary chicken sandwich and the chili cheese fries were both very flavorful and there was plenty of chicken in the rosemary chicken sandwich. stopped by for a quick bite after a long day of hiking and taking our doggies for an adventure. I ordered the pesto fettuccine & had plenty of leftovers for me to take home. We sat outside the restaurant on the patio with plenty of shade. The service & staff were awesome, patient, and brought our dogs water unprompted. Such a thoughtful gesture. We also tried some corn bread at the time which was devoured by my husband, he was a big fan. Located downtown Fairfax in a really cool neighborhood. There is a big parking lot across the street with free parking. The cafe is right on the corner. We were able to get a table in the morning without any reservations. Ordered: 1. Corned beef breakfast: I liked my corned beef and i liked that it was in big chunks rather than it being really fine strips were it's soggy and mixed into hash browns. It was seasoned well and went well with the potatos. Also cooked my poached eggs well! 2. Egg Plant sandwich: My wife really liked this and the eggplant wasn't too muchy but also very flavorful. Overall, service was good and they were polite and attentive. Clean restaurant. The prices on their website isn't reflective of their menu however and it's more expensive on the updated menu in the restaurant. They also do have more options in the restaurant as well. Decent food but a bit over-priced. Place was packed with people on Sunday but during the week the place is empty.

We went for the first time on a Friday night and sat on their lovely deck. Service and food were excellent quality. A party of 3, we had grilled salmon served with large array of veg, very large, greens salad with currants, pine nuts and perfectly dressed, out of this world steak....thick, well seasoned and juicy...literally the best steak we ever had! Huge side of thick, perfectly grilled asparagus came with steak. We were so happy, we returned 2 nights later and had very good cioppino (could use a bit more wine), linguine with pesto sauce and artichoke which was nice and garlicky and a bottle Roth Cabernet (delicious). Even the outdoor picnic tables on deck are more comfortable than they look. Just go...you will be glad you did. read more

The food was absolutely amazing, the service was fast even though it was a hopping Saturday night, and the chefs were zipping through orders. Tye, our server, was friendly and kind and on top of refilling waters, offering drink suggestions, and grabbing to-go boxes before we even asked for them! I had the chicken parmigiana, which was light and flavorful, and the steamed spinach that went with it was delicious (and I HATE cooked spinach, but gave it a try and actually enjoyed it for the first time ever!) The andouille sausage that was served with the pesto risotto was smoked and you could really taste it, and the spicyness was just perfect. The pesto sauce was heavy on the pine nuts in the best way. It wasn't oily or heavy on the basil or garlic like a lot of pesto sauces can be, and that left the risotto so light and almost citrusy. My cousin had the harvest garden dish, and they were stunned by how delicious it was. As a vegetarian, they are particular about their veggies, but everything was 'perfectly cooked'. At the end of the meal we were surprised by the panna cotta with the fruit remoulade, which we devoured in like three minutes haha! We really enjoyed all of the food, the service, and the ambiance. We only wish we lived closer, but might make the 90+ mile trip from Sacramento just for the amazing food now and then. read more

Barefoot Café I've always driven by Fairfax but have never stopped for a bit until today! Coming back from a backpacking trip from point Reyes I was starving. I got the Barefoot Special (20.95), which came with sautéed mushrooms, onions, and blue cheese. The portion was generous, with a hefty 1/2 pound of meat, but it was a bit too overbearing for my taste. The side Caesar salad was a nice touch, adding a refreshing balance to the meal. The sautéed mushrooms were done well and added a good depth of flavor. Solid meal overall. Staff were wonderful as well. I don't think I've ever had a burger that filling. read more

Food was very tasty. Flavorful, although the corned beef on the surf and turf Benedict was blander than on the corned beef hash dish. The Dungeness crab was a maxing flavored and tasted great. I highly recommend and I regret not going for the Dungeness crab scramble. However I am a corned beef hash connoisseur. Next time! One thing to note for breakfast items is one of the "toast" options is a sweet scone with lemon curd. It was a fantastic idea, and plan to take advantage on my next visit. On my first visit I always evaluate brunch with corned beef hash. The corned beef portion was generous but a chunkier than I liked. I liked the flavor, but some nah argue is salty. The potatoes were flavored nicely with equal crisp exterior and soft interior. It was cut larger than I expected, so it was hard to make my open face sandwich. The service was agreeable and kind, and gave strong European vibes. They served you but left you alone to enjoy yourself. It felt comfortable. The decor and uniform was also Euro-style. I really liked it. Interior and exterior seating with cover to block sun. We sat inside but the windows open (but inward). I can't wait to go back to try the other menu items! The restaurant itself has a beautiful ambiance, and while I visited at night, the brunch menu looked delicious and I think it would be the perfect spot for a Sunday morning. I got the fettuccine pesto pasta, which was delicious. The complimentary cornbread we received on arrival was also a great start to the meal. The portion size was also wonderful for the price. My partner and I came here for breakfast on a Tuesday morning since we're staying in San Anselmo. We were very excited given how positive the reviews were, but I found myself disappointed in almost every way. The food itself was fine, nothing particularly special, and ridiculously expensive for what it was. We checked in their website for menu and pricing beforehand, and while I understand the necessity of raising prices, especially in the last year, the disparity in advertised pricing and the menu we were given was absurd. They note that prices are subject to change at the bottom, but a $3-6 difference in most menu items feels deceptive. I got a single chocolate chip pancake, which was listed as $9.95 on their website. At the restaurant, it was almost $15. I'm not usually one to complain about pricing; I'm from Los Angeles, overpriced mediocre food is the expectation more often than not. The food was okay, but by halfway through my pancake, I felt sick from how sweet it was. Most other reviews talk about how good the service is, but my partner and I didn't experience that at all. The owner (?) greeted and chatted with every table but ours. I watched him put his arm around regulars. When he brought us the check at the end of the meal, he was relatively cold and said almost nothing to us. I don't expect friendliness out of service at any establishment, but for how empty the restaurant was at the beginning of the meal, and the warmth with all other guests, I wasn't especially pleased. I will make no claims about why he was not warm and welcoming with us, but I will say I was disappointed. Shoutout to the waitstaff, the single guy (the only waiter in the whole restaurant, aside from the owner?) who was taking care of every table in the whole place, and still maintaining good service. read more

We've been here a number of times for breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner. Every meal has been fantastic, but today's lunch was really exceptional. We had a TAB - turkey, avocado, and bacon with fresh, roasted turkey, perfect bacon, and a very ripe avocado. We also had the chicken salad, which is quite distinctive - it's light, peppery and has the usual celery but also water chestnuts, which was great for the hot weather. The fries are always gret, and the coleslaw tastes almost like a mayonnaise vinaigrette. Definitely got the mayo flavor, but lighter than usual. The best part of the wonderful lunch though was our server, Diego. Super attentive , really personable, and knows the menu like the back of his hand. He was able to make recommendations and help us decide what to get from the extensive menu. I wanted to cap it off with the chocolate shake, which I know is great, but we were too full to do that. I created a yelp account just to leave this review. We ordered the Gemelli and Chicken Parmigiana to go. The food was ready very quickly and was exceptional! The orders came with bread, and when we went to pick up the food, they gave us a free salad that they had accidentally made. The service from everybody in the restaurant was exceptional in the very short time that we were there. Specifically, the chef and Tay made our experience wonderful. I would give the food a 10/10 and the customer service a 12/10. Highly recommend, will go back if we're ever in the area again! read more

We were here for dinner tonight and had a decent meal. The reviews set the expectations really high and I think that was the issue. It was not bad but was not amazing either. We had the chicken parmigiana and ahi tuni salad. Service was friendly and efficient. The kitchen staff were so nice and warmly greeted everyone coming in and leaving. Rounding up to 4 for them. The decor is warm and I loved the greenery on the outside. It's hard to describe this place in terms of cuisine.
