Fantastic sandwich. Focaccia panini with side salad. Don't let the understated appearance let you underestimate this place. Will be back

So happy Marco's is in Marin now. The sandwiches were absolutely amazing and easily some of the best I've had. I'll definitely be back.

It's a train wreck. Trust me. Yelling at customers. Told me it was a half hour wait for a sandwich-no one's here?

Easily the best Italian sandwich in the Bay Area, and made by a real Italian who knows how it is supposed to taste!

My sandwich also came with a side salad, which I wasn't expecting but definitely appreciated.

The eatery has inside and outside dining with the inner dining smaller than the outside area. The extended dining area has both heat and covers available. Street parking is available so be warned but the this task is worth your effort. We chose to dine outside for the inner area was at capacity... a good sign. The customer service was outstanding beyond measure. We never saw our cups empty and at the end of our meal when we were selecting desserts, they packaged our leftovers. This gesture had never been performed in all of my experiences... bravo. The food was not simply made and put on our dishes but was created with the upmost heart. Our meals were outstanding and the desserts... the literally best we ever had to consume. If you want a great Family Italian meal, then go to Fairfax, California and seek out the Sorella Caffe. It reminds us of one of those old hometown Italian restaurants where everything feels authentic, welcoming, and comfortable. The food and service were amazing from start to finish. Heather was a fantastic waitress and took the time to walk us through the menu and explain everything. We originally stopped in for drinks and appetizers, but once again it turned into one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. A special shoutout to Soyara, the owner, who came by our table and treated us to tiramisu for dessert. Honestly, it was probably the best tiramisu I've ever had. If you're driving through or visiting Fairfax, California, this place is a must-stop. Great food, great people, and an atmosphere that keeps bringing us back. Way to go, Soyara and team!

While the quality of the meat was good, the cooking methods were not. It was extremely bland. No seasoning. The sauce that came with it was bland too. Worst of all I ordered it cooked medium and it was served mostly well done. 85% of the inside was grey and dry. Only about 15% of the steak was not cooked well done. The 15% left was barely medium well. Just a slight hint of pink in one spot. Clearly the cook does not know what medium cook is. Overall decent but doesn't stand out. Definitely did not justify the prices.

It has an interesting entrance layout where you have to walk all the way past the bar just to get to the host podium to check in. Once we were seated, we had a great server who was incredibly patient while we decided on our meals. They easily accommodated adjustments to my wife's order when she asked to swap out a creamy sauce for a marinara. We started with the arugula salad, which was delicious and loaded with roasted beets, gorgonzola, glazed walnuts, and a sharp balsamic vinaigrette. For our mains, we went with the Capellini del Diavolo and the Fettuccine Viareggio. Both dishes were absolutely amazing and hit the spot. The restaurant filled up incredibly fast for a Thursday night. If you are catching a show nearby, I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time.

Juan S. was our server for the night. Very knowable about the menu and the dishes. We started with a classic Caesar salad that we shared. It was plenty enough for us. I ordered the Petrale Sole special and my husband had the Pollo Pomodoro with vodka tomato sauce. Both were excellent choices. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, as were the mixed veggies. My husband loved the pasta as well. For 2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine, 1 Caesar salad, 1 bruschetta and a cannoli for later, our bill was $152, before tip. Well worth it.

After we were finally seated and put in our order for drinks, appetizers and main dishes, we waited quite a long time to get our food served. Quality-- not sure if we ordered the wrong things or went in on an off night, but for some reason everything we ordered was underwhelming and lackluster, from the: -drinks (cucumber mojito and strawberry balsamic mocktails) -bruschetta was average -meatballs were sort of flavorless -spinach ravioli with pesto was bland -parpadelle was also bland and portion was oddly small Overall, the food and service was unsatisfactory for the price we paid for the bill. We were excited to come here to celebrate our anniversary and left the restaurant feeling super unfulfilled with our meals. Safe to say we won't be coming back to this establishment, nor will we be suggesting this restaurant to friends and family.

Back then it was owned by Andy Scopazzi, who I believe subsequently has turned the reins over to his nephew who was an assistant there for years. Over the years I believe I had everything on the menu - my favorites being the veal saltimbocca, the fettucini alfredo, and the chicken picatta. The service was always wonderful, as is the environment. It was one of the original 'no-smoking' restaurants, before the ban. There was also a no-furs policy, Andy is a great animal lover. He has his own ranch- a vast number of vegetables in the cooking come from there. The French breakfast radishes were stunningly good. I could eat a bushel. Turns out I ate there my first night in town (I had just started at a little start-up company that had been purchased by Steve Jobs from George Lucas). Lo and behold, Mr Lucas was sitting at the counter and about 1/3 of Santanna was sitting at the round table in the window. Welcome to Marin. The night of the '89 Loma Prieta earthquake he was open, cooking over gas, with candle lit tables. A whole bunch of regulars, we all hung out and swapped stories (Luckily, Marin was largely unfazed). The food was at its best that night. If his nephew has maintained the quality (and I have no reason to believe otherwise... he frequently 'subbed' when Andy was out of town and the food was every bit as good) then you can't go wrong. An institution in San Rafael.
