Had breakfast here. There was only one customer when we entered but filled up real quick. We got the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs $18.95. Also Pork Chops & Eggs $19.95. Both came with buttered toast & homemade potatoes. Food was ok

Chicken Fried steak and eggs - the gravy wasn't to my taste (a little too much flour taste) but the eggs were really good.

Friendly service and a quaint diner-esque atmosphere. Unfortunately I think I ordered poorly because while the corned beef hash one someone else ordered was great, the chicken fried steak wasn't something I enjoyed: I'll try again and order some of the more traditional fare.

On 4th Street in Downtown San Rafael is a narrow building that's home to a great breakfast place. We visited Lundy's Home Cooking on a Saturday morning and were seated right away. There are a couple tables in the front window, several tables for 2 along the side wall and counter seats overlooking the grill. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the Omelette with Chicken Apple Sausage and Cheese which was served with potatoes and choice of toast; my wife ordered their Eggs Benedict, also served with potatoes and toast. In my omelette, the sausage (and cheese) was plentiful - and the potatoes were just as I like them, slightly crunch. My wife ordered their traditional Eggs Benedict. Now I know she is a Benedict aficionado and particular about the dish - she said it was very tasty! They have quite an extensive breakfast menu - with some unique choices like Fajita Omelette, Irish Breakfast, and a Chorizo Scramble. We'd happily return for a breakfast in the future.

4 Stars - No Frills, All Flavor - A True Neighborhood Gem Lundy's Home Cooking - San Rafael, CA After a night out on the town, this is exactly the kind of breakfast spot you hope to find--hearty, honest, and deeply rooted in the local scene. Lundy's is small, so grab a good seat when you walk in. Word to the wise: if you're tall or wide-set, post up at the bar--not against the wall. (Bonus points for all the purse hooks.) This is flat-top grill, traditional breakfast at its finest. I went in on the Corned Beef Hash Combo--house-made hash plus a solid Bennie on the side. Comfort on a plate. We split the Biscuits n' Gravy--rich, peppery, buttery. On point. She had the Chicken Apple Sausage and Eggs--simple, filling, cooked just right. Everything came out hot, fresh, and with that old-school care you only get from a real-deal diner kitchen. Coffee's flowing, prices are fair, and there's no pressure to rush--just sit back, scroll the news, and recover. Hangover cure? Check. Neighborhood institution? Double check. Well done, Lundy's. We'll be back.

We were back and this time brought our daughter to enjoy a post birthday breakfast. This time around we ordered their chicken fried steak breakfast, their Le Croissant sandwich with fries, and a 2 egg, bacon, and banana pancakes combo. Everything was spot on delicious. I wanted to originally get their Monte Cristo, but our server didn't recommend it. I'll trust the server's judgment, but dang I was so curious about it!

Came for some breakfast, really enjoyed the food. Nice staff who showed great care for our group. A real chill place to get good food and enjoy some time with friends.

Portions were huge which was great. I went on a Wednesday afternoon and had no trouble getting a table along a skinny side wall. Service was nice enough but definitely nothing special. It is a diner after all so don't expect 5 star service. I got the chicken fried steak cuz I was in the mood for some comfort food. The potatoes were super yummy and the scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly. Unfortunately the actual chicken fried steak was so salty I couldn't even eat it. It kinda ruined my whole experience. I may go back and try something else but probably not for a while with so many other great choices on 4th street. Sorry Lundy.

Came in at 11 am with a party of 2, dining area had a few regulars and more people trailed in as the time got closer to lunch. The guy that took our order also worked the counter, super polite and friendly. Before leaving, we had to use the restroom which we reached by going through the kitchen. Passing by, we did see that there was raw meat left out on the prep counter. It was swarmed by a horde of flies, with many of them around the exposed vegetables as well. Unfortunately we only saw this after we had consumed our meal and I hate to leave a poor review for a small business but it's definitely something to be aware of. Food: chilaquiles and country breakfast. Both were fresh and filling. Chilaquiles came with 2 eggs, rice and beans, and a slice of avocado.

Pancake combo with Irish bacon, and a darn fine mocha

A diner with personality, in a world that's losing character. Delicious breakfast for a reasonable price. Friendly staff, great classic decor without being kitschy, and they have Irish bacon and sausage! There's both table and counter seating.

This breakfast is wicked awesome. Irish sausage has the best type of casing. Love this place and the positive energy.
    Saemlinh I.

First and foremost, the seating arrangements are pretty tight. But they also seat you very quickly. We opted for the bar seating which felt spacious enough. They took our order immediately and we enjoyed the culture and diversity in that joint, both in its patrons and on the walls. The Irish Breakfast is wicked awesome. Irish sausage has the best type of casing. The grilled mushroom and grilled tomatoes work well in. Breakfast dish. All the potatoes were cooked perfectly, all tender and some crispy yet fluffy. The Irish Bacon is a leaner cure than traditional American bacon, which is great. We Love this place and the positive energy. Will definitely be returning!

This is the kind of place I love, and look for when I'm traveling. It's a Mom and Pop type of breakfast/ lunch joint located on the main drag of San Rafael on 4th Street near B Street. I think it used to be an Irish themed restaurant, but now it is run by a Hispanic man who does the cooking and takes orders. There are also waitresses on duty. The food is delicious and has a real home-made taste. There's a lot of Spanish dishes like chilaquiles (huge portion and super delish), as well as the standard breakfast/lunch items like omelettes, pancakes, waffles, etc. I highly recommend their house made corned beef hash. Coffee is very good, and they refill often. There's some tables, and counter service. Prices are reasonable. Portions are large. I hope Lundy's stays open for years to come, and prospers. This type of restaurant is getting harder to find as the corporate chains take over. We should patronize and support family owned businesses or we'll continue to see them close up shop and give way to to unhealthy soul-less mass produced "food" served up by corporations in order to boost investor profits. A real cross section of people frequent Lundy's, as I observed over several visits while staying nearby at the AC Hotel. Spanish speakers, families, working class as well as middle and well off locals keep the staff busy in the mornings and afternoons. Waitstaff is friendly, upbeat, and efficient. Really nice place!

This was a nice way to spend a few hours. The space is neat. It's as small, somewhat dark ambiance with the windows blacked out. So, you do loose your sense of time a bit inside. That's actually nice as it feels like you went somewhere/somewhen else for a while. We had a Manhattan and a Kentucky Mule, and, additionally, we had three different shareable appetizers. First thought, we ordered and devoured a really exceptional cheese plate. I know cheese plates seem a little meh sometimes, but this was really good! I would absolutely order it again. In fact, I would definitely go there just to have the cheese plate again with a drink, a glass of wine. We also had the three tacos shareable. There were three tacos that were stunningly good. Lastly a dish with some little steak medallions and a shrimp. Each of these was about two bites and the flavor and texture was excellent. All three of the shareables and the drinks were exceptional. I have to call out that, with the cheese board, came a little loaf of bread. That bread was really good all on its own. I would definitely want to eat it. I can still taste it. It was really good, but my wife, she's gluten intolerant. They offered, because she couldn't eat the bread, they offered to also bring her out some gluten-free crackers, so she got to enjoy the cheese board just the same without the bread. They gave her the crackers, and do you know, they just gave her those extra. They didn't ask for something more. They didn't do anything. They just took care of her. I really appreciate that. I have to also give a shout out to the Jessica. I don't know how she did it, but she was taking care of the whole room of tables I think. Nice. We ordred all three shareables at the same time and she thoughtfully said, 'do you mind if I course these out for you?' We said yes and she did. I don't think anybody felt like they didn't have everything they needed, so a shout out to you, Jessica, really well done. We're grateful for the service and the high quality dining experience that you gave us on a moment's notice. I hope we can visit again soon. And, especially we want to check out The Boardroom soon. NOTE: This is in a kind of older looking strip mall. Don't be concerned about that at all! It threw us off a little at first and we did wonder when we pulled in though if we were in the right place. Happily, we were!

The hot sauce that was served with it had a good amount of heat, and I really enjoyed it. The variety of fruit served with the burrito also pleasantly surprised me. I ordered a juice with my meal as well. When I called to order, the employee said they had recently renamed their drinks, so she listed off ingredients for a few of them and I just picked based off what she said was inside. The juice was good, but so small! I think it was around a 6oz cup; I was expecting more than that for the price. I also went into use the restroom when I picked up the ordered and employee glared at me, which I thought was weird. I guess he assumed I wasn't a customer and was just wandering in? Having visited New Orleans earlier this year, I was so excited to try this place! As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was transported back to NOLA! There were beads hanging and Mardi Gras decorations throughout the restaurant. Since it was a weekday, there was no wait and we had our choice of sitting inside or out. We opted for inside. Our server was warm and friendly, bringing us water promptly. We started off with an order of beignets. It arrived with three big pieces. They were freshly fried and doused in powdered sugar. So good! My daughter ordered the chicken and waffles, while I decided to try the everything gumbo. The chicken and waffles was huge! It came with several pieces of fried chicken that was topped with freshly minced garlic and came with a homemade spicy sauce. My daughter loved it! I tried a bite and thought it was tasty as well. She ended up taking half of it home. The everything gumbo was also delicious! It was a little thin in my opinion, but the flavor was amazing! It was truly authentic and I could taste all the seafood that was in it. I finished my entire bowl! Unlike the chicken and waffle, it was appropriately sized. When I went to pay the bill, there was a sign that said "free beignets if you pay cash." So of course, I paid our bill in cash! Luckily, I had enough cash on me. Can't pass up a deal like that! All in all, it was a very enjoyable meal! If I'm ever in the area, I'd definitely go back to The Hummingbird!

My "Soft Scramble" was a pile of astonishment. It was so unrefined that it was an insult the the ingredients. There was nothing soft about the eggs, they were overcooked. The only thing soft on the plate was the watery run-off from the vegetables they heaped into the eggs: Too many chewy mushrooms and HUGE. Too many cherry tomatoes. I had to dig to find the eggs. The leeks were strips of inedible ribbon. The toast? I think it had been toasted yesterday and left on the top of their oven overnight and then reused today. I had to get up from the table and ask for butter to make it edible and still I worried whether I was going to break a crown. The pickled vegetables? Again, HUGE, hard and barely pickled. I will refrain from criticizing the service because they are all unaware of the nightmare in which they are working. Bless their hearts. I was so sad and annoyed. People think they can buy a restaurant with recipes and wholesale accounts and staff and just run it, "business as usual" but they are wrong. I went in and asked if they had sold the restaurant and was told, "yes." I imagine some tech-bro's wife or some hedgefund community doodler wanted a pet project with zero idea about food or food quality or how to treat and retain employees because what happened to MHBB is astonishing. It's rude and insulting to anyone who opened this restaurant and put in their best to keep the name and claim to be catering to the same people. But then again, this is par for the course or, from my vantage point, everything wrong with what's happened in Marin in a nutshell. Faux authenticity. Zero care. This is now all about the money. I will never bother with it again.
