How the employee skin my fish
    An L.

Food quality is fair/ decent for the price. We normally go here for their sushi grade salmon. However deduct not only 1 but 2 stars because of how the employees there skinned my salmon for sushi purposes. Like so much meat got wasted, yet I got charged based on the price pre-skinned. We went to Wholefoods a couple time and their employees there are much better at skinning the fish.

The fish, bowls and sushi are good and the people are always friendly. We are looking forward to them coming to Cohasset.

I was surprised to read such rave reviews, but have started going there. I thought the authors were…read moremisguided. Having been, now, a few times, I think the reviews are a bit understated. it is fresh, fast, kind. The drawback is that they do not have a huge selection, but I suspect that is because what they have is fresh. It also does not appear overpriced. I will go back.

On Christmas Eve, (La Vigilia), many Italian families celebrate the "Feast of the Seven Fishes"…read more The custom is to serve seven different seafood dishes, each one representing one of the seven sacraments. At least that's the version of the story we've always gone by. The usual menu (since I was a tiny tot) has always included: pasta with lobster, baked stuffed shrimp, bacala (salt cod) salad, another bacala dish; this one with a marinara sauce, pan-fried smelts, clams one way or another; often casino-style, calamari, and then whatever else suits us that year to total at least seven dishes. While I didn't appreciate aspects of this meal when I was a kid (read: any bacala dish), it's now probably my favorite holiday feast bar none with any and all bacala included. While I usually get my fish at Rockyneck no matter what time of year, the day or two leading up to Christmas Eve is when we've got to buckle down. The crowd is coming. Rockyneck doesn't steer us wrong. It's actually inside the Hingham Fruit Center, a store I love and which I've reviewed separately. It consists of one large seafood counter within the larger grocery store and is its own business. I'm generally impressed with the freshness, quality and taste of the seafood they carry. The look of the fish is always pristine and I never hesitate over any of their offerings. The staff is attentive, friendly and helpful and will do their best to get you the very best of what you need when you need it. Christmas Eve notwithstanding, this place is a conveniently located little gem.

A stock boy named Mike was exceptionally kind and helpful. A few months ago , another very kind gentleman helped me carry heavy boxes again. I think his name was John? You do not find good customer service anymore, anywhere these days - so please keep up the good work guys! Markets are a dime a dozen everywhere, but what sets this place apart is the cool selection of items and the warm customer service. I will continue to recommend this place to people :)

So disappointing. I've been putting off a review, waiting for things to get better but . . . after…read more12'ish years of regular shopping here, today is marking the end of my tolerance for consistently slipping service, questionable inventory and overall sadness on the shelves. It didn't used to be this way but the past four or five months the shopping experience here has been steadily declining. Today at noon'ish, the hot foods counter was bare. Absolutely nothing in the trays. The cold foods were full but- tired looking. I no longer get anything from the prepared foods anyway, as I was on the losing end of an interrogation about potato salad last month (. . . and exactly why is it orange?) that was never going to provide an answer from the uninformed employee. Today, I did get prepared chicken salad this trip as it's delicious when it's made to their original recipe (rotisserie chicken, mayo, celery) but not so much when the chef skips the mayo. And celery. It looks like it has everything in it this time, so I'm hoping. Today in Produce, I did find two tomatoes on the vine. Not the delicious, locally-grown ones I found in here last week, but beggars can't be choosers, so I grabbed the last ones. Last week it was scallions. No scallions- why? That day, the helpful employee didn't deny it was odd, he just shrugged and said, "Maybe in a couple of days?". I could maybe excuse the empty shelves and the clueless employees except for the cashiers who know better than the customer. Today was the third visit I asked the employee conducting a painfully slow checkout process not to squash everything in my order into only one of my shopping bags but . . . nah, he knew best. so all went in one bag. Then he backed the cart out of his way into the line of people waiting patiently behind me, (insted of pulling it forward) saying, "You want your cart?" Why do I want that cart? I'm happy to put it back in the cart line without you running some poor woman's foot over with it, but sure, I'll drag the cart around the counter and through the line because I'm standing at the end of the counter emptying half of what's in one of my bags and filling the second bag with it anyways, so . . . I started shopping at TFM for the quality, the variety of unusual items and the pleasant employees who were helpful, doing a job, and trying to do it well. No clue what's happening, but I can't annoy myself here any more. But now I have to find Malted Milk Balls somewhere that even come close to TFM ones, and that's not gonna happen anytime soon!

Nice clean store, restaurant seating area. Scallops were fresh and very good , not greasy, overcooked ones. Fries a nice crunch , but too many . Cole slaw was just ok. Lobster bisque was cold, lumpy, no flavor, no lobster pieces... lousy ... wouldn't order again. Had to warm up in car after the meal... need to turn some heat on Root beer added on for 3.20 was just ok from a bottler in Ludlow Ma. Definitely a spot for fresh seafood to take home, order cooked. Again; key is the freshness here in clean environment.
