Unique shop with great items. Spices, marinades, olives, oils etc. I found many things I would have liked to try, but prices are crazy high. If I could give less than one star I would. New to the area and I haven't taken the time to find a good hair dresser. Needing a basic Bob cut I went into Great Clips, a mistake for sure. I told the girl what I wanted and even showed her a picture. A BASIC BOB. My hair came out looking like straight sticks !! The absolute worst hair cut I've ever had ! My last two experiences at the salon: I went from having one of the best haircuts I've ever had because I had a stylist who actually paid attention to what I wanted and worked with me, to having one of the worst haircuts I've ever had because I had a stylist who had been "doing this for 24 years" and apparently knew better than I did... I wanted no more than a 1/2" trim tops! so the stylist proceeded to chop my hair and cut mostly an inch off. So it now looks like a lawnmower went over it. Probably a better description would be a weedwhacker went over it. It's uneven and it looks like I stuck my head in a food processor. But of course, the stylist knew better than I did (as if it were my first haircut ever in my life). To the stylist's credit I wasn't charged, as it was evident I was unhappy about the results. All I can say is if you choose this salon, find a hairstylist that you like and make sure that stylist is working the day that you want your haircut. Otherwise good luck with the outcome. read more

I am a man in my 60's and normally go to the "normal" barbershop. But with this COVID Crap it is difficult to (a) find anyone open and (b) have time to wait for the line to get own to a reasonable length. When people started referring to me a "ma'am" I decided to check out Great Clips. I could not have been more satisfied. First, with their on line check -in there was no wait. They met me at the door and knew my name. It was a immediate walk to the chair where I received a very good haircut. The first time a young man, and the second time a young woman were very personable and extremely competent. I have been there twice so this wasn't a one off situation. I was pleaded with my haircut, however, I will probably not return. There was a customer in there sigh 2 very large furry dogs. I believe a hair salon is not the place for dogs. Besides the hygiene issue, there is the possibility of allergies and pet papa liability if a child should be bitten. Went to get a haircut with a picture of what I wanted and they completely butchered it. Cut it way to short and not even remotely close to how I wanted it done. I'm usually not one to complain but this really pissed me off. I would not recommend going here and I will discourage anyone from going to this location from now on. read more

This place is fantastic. I'm always greeted with a smile and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. I came here for the first time two years ago when I was visiting family and was a little apprehensive at first but Julie, my stylist, gave me one of the best cuts I've had. I ended up moving to the area and I've been with her ever since. She's extremely talented and I paid a tenth of what I used to pay for a cut elsewhere with the same result. This is regarding the great clips at midway commons NOT the one in Southport, NC the one at MIDWAY COMMONS was great- at first, stylist was great, they did a great job on my child (NOTE I SAID CHILD) hair a very basic trim a half inch, her hair was washed too THEN I got the bill $40.81, to be fair, I bought shampoo for 10.99, that was my expense. but still, 30.00 for a kids hair cut ...really? HOLY COW!! So I was not going to be rude to this stylist after she did a great job because I felt this was obviously a mistake and I could e mail customer service and get it handled without looking like a cheap A@@ WRONG! I was told in an e mail that if her hair was dried with a brush it cost more, if her hair touches her shoulders it cost more and if they wash it, it costs more...REALLY?? So when I e mailed the lady back I was told each office is independently owned and operated so... I called the office of great clips at Midway Commons and was told again... all this fine print...funny, no one told me before hand. I told the owner I felt as if this was kind of crappy to bring you in offering a hair cut for a child for $7.99, THEN CHARGING $15.00, Then charging $14.00 for what they called a regular style that the last time I went to have my child's hair cut it was 20.81 how could it have gone up 20.00 6 weeks. The e mail response was unbelievable...it was "I am so happy you liked your stylist and had a great experience with Great Clips, I would like to send you a coupon for a free hair cut.." NO thank you! Next time I will not be going to great clips my mom goes to a regular salon on Oak Island is only charged 30.00 for everything!! read more
