I've now catered from here twice, and both experiences were excellent. Our large orders were prepared perfectly and included meatballs, penne vodka, chicken francese, eggplant parm, Mediterranean orzo salad, a cheese antipasto platter, and a variety of sandwich platters. We were out-of-towners needing sustenance before a 5 hour drive home. Found this place highly recommended for sandwiches. Entering the shop, we immediately appreciated the decor, the scents, and the lovely meat case displaying cold cuts, flatbreads, and other Italian delicacies. The fridges were stocked with take home soups, cheeses in brine and more. Had a nice chat with someone who might have been a manager or owner who helped us navigate the menu and make our choices. I had a sandwich with imported ham and garlic sautéed broccoli rabe on a crusty roll with bocconcini. She had the Parma with prosciutto, fresh moz, arugula, sun dried tomatoes and balsamic glaze. Both of us were delighted with our sandwiches. They were huge and the fact the cold cuts were freshly sliced put them over the top. We ate them with imported potato chips and local sodas bottled specially for the shop. We're not in the area very often, but we'll make it a point to come back - with a cooler this time to bring some delicacies home to Maine. read more

Had a delightful conversation with the owner of this small, attractive looking deli. Turns out, the guy is a former CPA/Accountant who decided he had been a "bean counter" for far too long ... so he decided to take a risk, and opened this cute Italian deli "around a year ago.." Anyway, after umpiring a well played 14U baseball game in Yanticaw Park, I found myself hungry for a filling Italian sub. I consulted Yelp! which highly recommended Salumeria Regina ... which certainly sounded Italian to me! lol Anyway, since the place was pretty quiet (it was after 2PM) I wound up chit chatting with the Owner (see above.) I actually wound up ordering a Salumeria Salad, which was akin to an Italian Chef Salad, only with Salami and Ham. Truth be told, the salad was a wee bit disappointing, because it was sorely lacking a few standard Chef Salad staples, such as a little sliced turkey or roast beef, maybe a second kind of "contrasting" cheese, a hard boiled egg, and possibly some olives or peppers, something to give it a little more variety. I did ask to substitute Arugula for the traditional Iceberg Lettuce; and add sun-dried tomatoes, so perhaps it was my own fault for substituting other ingredients. The salad was packaged in a nice sized container, but it was dominated by fresh Mozzarella, which was, indeed delicious. Next time, I will definitely try one of their more popular sItalian subs, which had been my original idea! read more

I was looking for imported pasta and found this place hidden away in Nutley. It's a small authentic Italian deli tucked away in the land of Italian deli's. First off the pasta was great. Tired of buying pasta made here with too many ingredients. There were plenty of options. The pasta I bought tasted great and had only three ingredients. It was also pretty easy on the wallet, I expected to pay more. I also bought a loaf of fresh bread which I enjoyed. I will be back to try the sandwiches and deli items. The place smelled great. Their sandwiches are amazing. I just wish they would stay open later. It kind of seems silly to close at 5pm and miss out on dinner orders. I am sure they would make a killing if they just stayed open just an hour or 2 later. This is the second time I have tried to order after 5pm and found them to be closed on DoorDash. A few years back I'd come here when it went by 'Oro Fino' and by happenstance I found myself here one Sunday morning to learn it's under a new name and management. Per the usual when I find myself in a new Italian deli... I went in for an item or two and came out about $100 lighter with a big 'ol bag of treats. Homemade ravioli. (A classic combo of sausage and broccoli rabe should've been a homerun but... it wasn't.) Cold cuts. (The various imported cured meats were delicious, no doubt, but I'm bummed to see they're still using big bulky plastic containers for their cold cuts... a bad idea that started with Oro Fino. We need to be helping Terra Madre... not hurting her!) Breaded eggplant. (Next-level. Probably not the healthiest item since they were fried but they were spectacular.) Breaded chicken cutlets. (I was told there was a 'secret' to how they're prepared that the owner didn't even know but I gotta be honest... they were mighty chewy, and not worth the hype.) Fresh ball of muzz. (So soft and creamy and elevated everything I added it to). Customers ahead of me (and behind) were fluent in Italian, conversing with the guys behind the counter and I realized that my daily Duolingo lessons (learning Italian, over 200 days now) weren't helping me. At all. But I made my 'pitch' - in English - (planning a visit to Italy in early 2024, that I'm an AS Roma fan, etc.) before being rung up and although they support a rival soccer team... both guys couldn't have been cooler. A solid deli (a bit sparse compared to some of the surrounding competition), moderately priced (considering most of it was imported from Italy - including the cook!), with street parking. I stopped by after doing some Christmas shopping around town to reward myself with lunch. The worker was really nice, they own the deli as well as the restaurant and bakery attached. I went with two of their most popular sandwiches. One was an Italian tuna with sun dried baby tomatoes and arugula. The other was basically the same thing but with chicken cutlet and fresh mozzarella. Both were exceptional. Fresh toasty bread, delicious ingredients. I also got a log of their fresh mozzarella. It was still warm when I sliced into it. So so delicious. Really one of the best fresh cheeses around. They also have a ton of delicious imported Italian goodies, cheeses, pastas, homemade sauces, candy. You name it, this place has it. Also very fairly priced. Those sandwiches lasted me for 4 meals. The best salumeria in the area that is reasonably priced and full of flavor. The food is incredible even when you order from them on Uber. The bread is always fresh, delicious meats, and toppings that are full of flavor with quick service. I often order the Roma sandwich, Calabria sandwich, and the Positano sandwich. While other menu items are ok, like the rice balls and cannolis, the sandwiches are really where they shine. You can also add toppings like balsamic glaze, arugula, or fresh tomatoes, just to name a few, to customize the sandwiches to your liking. We were in the area, and came across this little slice of heaven! We order two sandwiches.. but the Roma was hands down the best chicken cutlet sandwich I've ever had. So crispy! The fresh Mozz was made that day in shop for sure, as were the fresh roasted peppers. The owner (I assumed he was the owner because he was SO delightful, with an Italian accent and made all the sandwiches himself!) also told me he makes the best tiramisu in the world, fresh everyday... how could I not try it... and he was SPOT ON! We stopped in minutes before closing earlier this week, in search of prosciutto and fresh mozzarella. Honestly, I was expecting a face as I walked in because it was so close to closing time, but I was warmly greeted by the young family inside. From what I understood, they just moved from Italy and recently took over this business. The mozzarella was super fresh, just made that afternoon. I believe the owner said he makes it twice a day! The prosciutto was very fairly priced, which is usually not the case in most places. My husband also purchased meatballs in sauce, which were also made fresh. The owner gave us his card and mentioned you can reach out to him for special orders, like lasagna. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area who appreciates quality. A new addition to Washington Ave right next to a bakery & pizza place, the Aromi Di Napoli and Queen Margherita. The outdoor seating is spaced with lovely wooden chairs & cafe tables and appears to the shared with the eateries next door. Upon entering you are transported into a salumeria which is explained to me as a delicatessen of fine imports straight from Italia. High quality cheeses & meats great for charcuterie & sandwiches. Pasta and sauces & other amazing Italian products like Italian pop & spreads that can be only found here! The front guy who I assume is the owner also said they'll be offering sandwiches & some little soon! I stopped in hoping they had a nice Italian espresso machine & was lucky to have an authentic option besides the Dunkin' down the road. Kind staff who welcomed me & I did them to the neighborhood! Salumeria Oro Fino is absolutely fabulous! We stopped in for a quick look see as it is a new business and we walked out with a delicious sandwich of freshly made Mozzarella and Smoked Ham, which my wife and I shared, pastas, jams and San Pellegrino. This Salumeria and their delicious food transported us back to Italy and it can only be wonderful since it is part of Queen Margherita Trattoria and Aromi Di Napoli!
