The place is nice and has a great variety of options. The pizza slices were nice and big, tasted really good. The Mediterranean sangweech (eggplant, roasted peppers, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze) was enormous and so incredibly delicious. Possibly the best eggplant sandwich I've had! We went early in the day so there was no one eating in and it was fast to order and get our food to go. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning!

Third time visiting I got a Prosciutto and Mootz which was not on their menu selection a little odd. I ordered with roasted peppers nothing else. The sandwich came quickly freshly prepared. Good size and for $17 it should have been. However the crust made no sound when you bit the sandwich. The garlic in the roasted peppers overwhelmed the flavor of everything else. . See pic. That destroyed the taste of the sandwich. The cheese is good but it lacks the creaminess found at 5th+Adam

Just moved into the neighborhood so I had to check this place out. Pretty extensive menu and everything looked and smelled amazing. I opted for the Porchetta with hot fryers and sharp cheese. Best one I've ever had (outside DeNics) Also got a hot roast beef with fresh homemade mootz and au jus- killer! A new favorite spot to keep me from losing weight-lol!

Still as delicious as ever. With their updated menu, this place is a fantastic staple in Lyndhurst. The staff is always so friendly, on the phone and in person. Their sandwiches are to die for. The chicken Milano is a favorite in my house. Chicken cutlet, burrata, creamy Italian dressing - what's not to like? Their Caesar salad with eggplant is delicious. Their pizza - the best I've ever had. Idk what the magic is but the sauce, the dough- yum. Their pretzels are good, their mini strombolis are delish. You just can't go wrong with this place. Love catering their shaped mozzarella for holidays too. Love Vinnie's, I'm glad they've become an established eatery in town.

Vinnie's Mootz 356 Valley Brook Avenue Lyndhurst, NJ 07071 More Than Waffles Southern Bell Where's The Beef? The Uncle Phil The Mediterranean I previously posted about this family owned sandwich shop and pizzeria. Each choice was a home run that I had to come back to explore some more. More Than Waffles: This is not your typical chicken and waffles; it is even better. This sandwich version of the southern entrée is layered with breaded cutlets, mootz, bacon and drizzled with hot honey. Be prepared for sticky fingers. Southern Bell: The Southern Bell has two full size cutlets loaded with burrata cream. The chunks of cream kept falling out, which is definitely a good problem. Where's The Beef? You won't need to search very hard to find the protein in this ironically named sandwich. A larger sized soup bowl is also included which will you need to dip this enormous sandwich in the au jus. The Uncle Phil: Here is a perfect variation of the classic steak pizzaiola dish. The tender chuck steak was smothered in red sauce; a divine combination. The Mediterranean: If are not a fan of eggplant heroes, this sandwich will change your mind in a heartbeat. In addition to being generously piled with breaded eggplant, the hoagie was sprinkled with hot, roasted peppers for that spicy kick! As a bonus, this spot also has an Italian market where you can purchase top quality cooking ingredients for superb Italian meals. As another bonus, students are eligible to purchase selected lunch specials on weekdays. Be sure to ring the bell if this is your first time exploring Vinnie's Mootz! Between excellent food and friendly service, I can virtually guarantee there will definitely be a next time. #vinniesmootz #mootz #lyndhurstnj #sandwichshop #morethanwaffles #southernbell #wheresthebeef #theunclephil #themediterranean #localspots #familyownedbusiness #eats #foodstagram #localspot #foodreview #njfoo

Vinnie's Mootz in Lyndhurst, NJ. Come get "moozted" with me at Vinnie's Mootz. Fresh Mozzarella & Burrata are made daily here and the food is delicious! Vinnie is the owner and he's the best! He shared with us that it all started with making pizza and now he has his own pizza/mutz shop! The pizza was light but flavorful. The mutz was so fresh and I just love it piled on alll the sandwhiches. You gotta check it out! Insta: @thehungrysw

Have to assume that everyone already knows this is the best place to stock up for a MetLife tailgate but figured I would mention it. My daughter and I were headed to a concert and of course I turned that into an excuse to check Yelp. A place that features incredible store made mozzarella and includes it in the name seemed like a no brainer. Women working behind the counter were friendly and professional, even with half an hour remaining until closing time. Every sandwich on their menu looks incredible and I was tempted by the pork, broccoli rabe, and provolone but as a first timer, I needed to try the "mootz". Went with chicken cutlet, mozzarella, arugula, roasted peppers, and balsamic glaze. A classic for a reason. My daughter went with the chicken Parmesan hero. They had a lot of other nice options, including some nice looking pizza for future visits. We unveiled the sandwiches a bit later and they remained perfect, absolutely loved their mozzarella, chicken, bread and all of the flavors. I finished my sizable hero plus half of my daughter's hero. Not the best idea from a dietary standpoint but I wasn't wasting any delicious goodness! The locals are definitely lucky to have Vinnie's Mootz!

What a great establishment located in the town of Lyndhurst. Service is great even though it's been extremely busy the two times I've been there. It has a very welcoming vibe. Stopped by after hearing a lot of great things about their sandwiches and their mozzarella. I was NOT ready for how good everything here was going to be. Mozzarella: very light with amazing flavor and texture. Melt in your mouth and I imagine it will pair perfectly with whatever you eat it with... I can see why people always walk out with at least one ball of mozzarella The Lyndhurst sandwich (chicken cutlet, prosciutto, mozzarella): great combination and, to nobody's surprise, the mozzarella really ties the sandwich together Where's the meat sandwich (roast beef, mozzarella and au jus): Perfect combo. Amazing amount of roast beef complimented by the mozzarella all tied together with the au jus. Pepperoni square slice: the dough is so airy and so crunchy. Their cupped pepperonis is extremely flavorful and their tomato sauce is nice and light. Great slice and would highly recommend asking for a corner slice Vodka square slice: their vodka sauce is AMAZING. Highly recommend

It is very very very very RARE to go to a restaurant on visits and try basically everything and EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS. It's hard to pick my favorite menu item because all of it is literally top tier. I have walked in as well as ordered Grub Hub and it is very refreshing to have this place here in Lyndhurst. I am not a big foodie, but this place deserves my review. The customer service is top tier and the food is top tier. Their food and customer service is off the charts. You will not regret ordering or visiting this place. I have tried 70% of the menu items and they're all top tier. This is my new go-to spot in the area of Lyndhurst.

    Clam Pie!

I've been to Vinnie's Mootz a couple of times in the past and have always been blown away by the Fresh Mootz and their sandwiches. I have always heard about the pizza, but never tried it and decided today was the day. I stopped by and looked in to the pizza display case and noticed there was no cheese/margherita pizza. I asked but was told unfortunately there is none, but if I'd like they have a great clam pie with roasted garlic. It wasn't quite what I was craving, but, it looked fresh and I am a sucker for roasted garlic so I ordered it. As I was waiting for my clam slice to warm up, I asked if there was any fresh cheese coming out and the young man hesitated at first, but then told me if I'm willing to wait 15 minutes for me, he'd make it. I LOVE THAT!! It is so important to go above and beyond and having that awareness and being able to add those little personal touches is what sets this establishment apart from the next one. My clam slice was warmed up and handed to me, and it was good, but needed a little more oomph! I suggest a roasted garlic spread/base under the cheese, topped with clam sauce and a drizzle of olive oil, red pepper flakes, and parsley at the end to round out the flavors. Maybe even a sprinkle of lemon zest! Shortly thereafter, the young man asked me what I thought of the clam slice and I gave him my honest feedback. He was genuinely interested and said it was the first time they've ever made it. His humbleness was incredibly apparent and once again, that sort of demeanor is so refreshing. The cheese pie came out and he came from around the counter to hand me my box, thanked me, and wished me a nice weekend! All of this seems so simple doesn't it? I'm a veteran of the pizza and food business with over 25 years of experience and what I can tell you is, that service like this, is actually pretty rare. I know from my prior visits that this young man is Matteo, the owners son, and to me, that makes this experience 10x better. Why, you may ask? The fact that the owners son is this hospitable, earnest, down to earth, caring, and polite is really an anomaly. I have always been brought back by the food, but I am now additionally going to be brought back due to the customer service. In this business, it's the little details that make the experience and the guest return and give word of mouth which is more valuable than influencers. Matteo, thank you for your recommendation, and for making my simple transaction of 3 slices not only delicious but a memorable one too!

The Lyndhurst with roasted peppers, arugula, and garlic mayo
    Stephanie C.

First time ordering from here and it was SO GOOD. The drunken eggplant parm was insanely tasty - eggplant sliced thin and breaded perfectly topped with flavorful vodka sauce, but that mootz was by far the star of the show tying it all together. Great portion and absolutely delicious. My only complaint is I wish I had more! I also tried the Lyndhurst which was very good although I wish the cutlet was hot. We added garlic mayo and while it was tasty the huge chunks of garlic were a bit much. All in all, I will absolutely order from here again. Delicious!

Combination of sandwich shop, slice joint, and Italian grocery and it totally works. Mozzarella is fresh made in house and the star of every sandwich, regardless of the toppings. Stumbled on this place walking back to my car from the coffee shop up the block. Had no idea this was here but pleasantly surprised. You can order online ahead or pop in to order to-go. We ordered the Lucky Lady and Italian Stallion. The combination of ingredients on both sandwiches were classic and perfectly matched. Would come back to order a different sandwich... or the same... or both.

We went originally for the first time on Valentine's Day! We did their prefix dinner and also took a mootz making class. Honestly, it was so fun and different. Had a blast. There was also an Elvis impersonator who sang and he was not only funny but music was good! We got to meet Vinny and his wife who were also so sweet. Since then, we've ordered sandwiches to be delivered and OMG they are probably the best I've ever had. The Italian hero they have is out of this world. I must have ordered it 3x the first few weeks after having our baby - I couldn't get enough. Pasta also great, and pizza too. 10/10, one of my absolute favorite places.

The first margherita pizza I ordered was delicious and looked exactly like the photos they advertise online -- fluffy wood-fired crust, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, and overall high quality. That positive experience is the reason I ordered again. Tonight, however, I opened the box and received what looked more like a thin-crust cheese pizza with tiny pieces of what appeared to be spinach scattered on top instead of fresh basil. The crust was thin and flat, not the thick, airy wood-fired dough that is advertised on their website and delivery platforms. The fresh mozzarella was also replaced with grated cheese, which completely changed the pizza. When I called the restaurant, I was told they do "Tavern Thursdays," where the margherita pizza is made differently -- thin crust, grated cheese, and basil sprinkled on instead of the traditional version. My issue is not necessarily that they offer a different style on Thursdays -- it's that this was NOT clearly advertised anywhere on the website or ordering platform where I placed my order. I was instead told that the information is posted on Instagram. That is unacceptable. Customers should not have to check a restaurant's social media to find out that the item they're ordering is completely different from what is being advertised on the actual ordering platform. If the pizza is going to be fundamentally changed one day a week, that should be clearly stated on the website, menu, and delivery apps before checkout. Otherwise, it feels misleading and false advertising. The pizza I received looked nothing like the photos used to advertise the margherita pizza, and not at all like the one I previously received. Really disappointing experience, especially after such a great first order.

Generic maps and drawings of Italy on the walls? The place is bare bones... nothing fancy, exactly what you're expecting from an old-school pizza joint. Crew behind the counter - awesome. Metered street parking (but this block is incredibly busy, so you'd be keen to drop a quick prayer to St. Frances of Rome - the patron saint of car drivers - to help you find a spot). A family of four stuffing their mugs for about $8 a person? In today's economy? Cosa non è da amare.

The restaurant is a former residential property and the interiors is no frills. People come here for the food. We were comped an appetizer as well as a dessert and the service is fast and first rate! Tonight I had the Meatball soup, classic Lasagna and a side of meatballs along with a house salad and several Iced Teas. I was too stuffed for dessert and I love coming here because I know there isn't a poor selection on the menu. Located on Schuyler Avenue close to the Lyndhurst border, La Venere works for parties of two or large groups for parties or special events. North Arlington is changing, but there are constants and thankfully La Venere continues to impress and flourish. Love Italian old school? Check out La Venere and you be disappointed! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

To start: there's a small parking lot in the back but otherwise appears to be street parking. Both of our cars found spots in the lot since we got there a touch before 5pm. When we got in there, there was only 1 table of two people occupied but we were asked if we had a reservation which we didn't have. Admittedly, it was a bit of a last minute decision to go out so it completely slipped my mind to look to see if I would be able to reserve something but it was before 5pm so I'm surprised we were met with such resistance. Luckily, they were able to take us with warning we would need to be out by 6:45. For reference we left at 6 since we only got entrees. The place itself is somewhat small and has a little covered patio which saw had some tables. It's no frills and the menu wasn't all that extensive. I swear there is more of a menu on their Slice app for takeout ordering. Bread was placed on the table as well as a water pitcher. To be honest, I didn't think the bread had much flavor and my husband and parents agreed. We were pretty hungry so we did finish it (even when bread isn't great, it's still good in my book) but we weren't offered any more than the first basket. All of our entrees came with salad which were typical pizzeria salads-not bad, not amazing. My mom and I both ordered the Chicken Avellino (chicken breast sautéed with chopped red onion, red peppers, sliced hot cherry peppers, shitake mushrooms in a white wine sauce with a touch of plum tomatoes) which came with roasted potatoes. I'm not the biggest fan of spicy but I thought I could just take off the sliced hot cherry peppers and be okay. Wow was I wrong because the entire dish had a kick to it. Even my mom who gravitates towards spicy food admitted it was hot. That said, the quality of the chicken was phenomenal. It was thin sliced and very good. My husband very much enjoyed his Scaloppini Marsala and my dad liked the Pollo Francese but did wish the sauce was a touch thicker. I will say I think the quality of the food served is very good but the portions are not plentiful. I'm guilty of always taking home and making another meal or two out of what I get out somewhere but all 4 of us cleared our plates. At a $30 price point I just wish there were larger portions.

Margarita Slice (8.6/10) - Sauce was plentiful and savory, with a touch of sweetness that really brought out all the ingredients. The cheese had a nice pull and the basil provided your typical margarita taste. Combined with the crust that added nice crunch, this margarita slice fostered a harmonious combination of flavor town. Nonna Slice (8.3/10) - The nonna slice provided a unique twist on the typical margarita flavor town. With a chunky marinara sauce,, and squareness, every bite if done correctly gets the perfect of all its flavors (town). The flavor of the sauce was not quite as tasteful as the OG margarita, but still served for a fun slice of goodness. Rice Ball (7.7/10) - Although the rice ball was 70% rice, the flavor of it with the meat and peas came together to make a yummy mush. Along with the crispy surface and side of (sweet) warm marinara sauce, the rice ball is a nice dish to have in the coziness of your home. Drunk Sicilian Slice (8.2/10) - Exactly what you would expect from a slice of pizza made with vodka sauce. In its unique square shape, the cheese is melted nicely across the creamy sauce and the rich crunchy crust. The cheese was the star of the slice with so much all over, it's everywhere. Penne Vodka Slice (8/10) - Tastes like what it looks like, a lot of pasta with less room for the sauce to shine. The slice was gimmicky but was a fun attempt at combining two fan favorite dishes. There was some cheese present on the slice but was met with a mouthful of barely toasted pasta. The pasta itself brought a rather mild taste that could've been replaced with a more flavorful option. Still fun to try though.

I left a polite note last time, but cleanliness doesn't seem to be important. Now, to the meal... Again, the service was flawless. Our server is a doll. Pasta fazzoletti soup was a little bland but tasted fresh. Eggplant parm was a nice-size lunch portion with the same delicious sauce we had last time. The pasta was too soft. The Caesar salad with shrimp was a total FAIL. The dressing did not taste homemade. The shrimp were AWFUL! They were so dry and overcooked that they were crusty. But rubbery at the same time. Cooked shrimp should look like a C. When it looks like an O, it's overdone. Two stars for service and menu options. Bruno's is walking distance and reasonably priced. It's really a shame.
