You'll be treated to a personalized hair style designed with your hair type and texture and your face and body shape in mind. The salon experience is both restful and rejuvenating, thanks in large part to the wonderful scalp massage which accompanies every hair washing. The lovely atmosphere, stimulating conversation and delicious espresso doesn't hurt either. I can't count the number of compliments I've received over the years. I'm not adept at styling my own hair, but that's never an issue with a Sal Minardi cut. It always looks good, whether freshly cut and blown out, or quickly washed and tosseled. As a man, it may be considered unusual to write a review of a salon, but I must say that the Salvatore Minardi Salon has changed my view of the salon experience. Salvatore Minardi is not only a master in his field, but has created a salon experience that is professional, high end, and friendly. Carol, the salon manager, is the first person you meet and immediately feel that your arrival has been anticipated instead of being just another part of the day. Salvatore, as well as the other stylists, have an understanding of men's style and an ability to deliver the look you are trying to achieve - even if you don't quite understand it yourself. As a father of three, it's been fun to even watch my own children take care of their own image and work with Janelle in creating their own look. If a single father raising boys has his son asking when the next time we can go for haircuts will be - Salvatore and his staff must be some kind of magicians. I have been going to Salvatore since January 1996!!! (Every 6-8 weeks! ) Originally in Nutley then I followed him to Madison. When I first went to him I had the 80's permed hair...yes into the 90's. He transformed my hair into an up to date style and made my hair healthy once again! I've had many, many hairstyles over the 20 plus years! Short...medium length...long and now back to short. He is patient and listens and between the 2 of us designs an up to date style that is suitable to my hair texture, face shape and my needs. My ever so picky 16 year old, Dean, now goes to Salvatore. Dean has gone through many, many hairstylists. Salvatore takes extra extra time and explains practically each scissor cut with Dean so he knows exactly what he wants. The Salon is spotless and very welcoming! The staff is always so pleasant and friendly and willing to get you water, tea, coffee, espresso! I first visited Salvatore's salon 4 months ago as a gift from my son. I had two styles in mind, but didn't have to say a word. Salvatore just felt my hair and looked at my face and knew exactly what to do. The cut and style were so perfect for me I NEVER had a bad hair day! And the color and highlights were beautiful! (I've been trying for 40 years and never got it right) Even as my cut grew out, I was still getting compliments! I went back again, last week, and got the same results! This review is long overdue. I've been getting my hair styled by Salvatore since 2016 because he is the best hair designer I've encountered in the 20+ years I've lived in NJ. He always starts with a thoughtful consultation to make sure he understands what you want and makes suggestions based on what you tell him. The result is always better than what I imagined. Salvatore is a great communicator and exudes warmth plus enthusiasm for his profession. The salon is immaculate and the staff friendly and efficient. I just came back from getting my hair cut and when I say salvatore minardi can fix anything he really can. If your hair is tangled with a tight not he can get it out and fix your hair to Frame your face. He did that for me a year back. Today I needed to fix my dyed hair and have a little trim and he was able to do that!
