I went for a hair consultation but honestly had no expectations, being that I tried a couple of other different doctors before, that left me quite disappointed. Let me be frank, to understand how impressive Dr. Stoller is as a physician, you would have to understand his commitment to his patients comfort and needs as people. Dr. Stoller is easily, one of the most talented and impressive HT Physicians I have come across in the industry. I did a tremendous amount of research as well as multiple consults prior to settling on Dr. Stoller, and I was not disappointed. On 12/5/2014, I had a procedure of 2427 grafts. Very minimal swelling, virtually, no pain. My post surgery kit provided by Dr. Stoller had everything I needed to take care of the grafts, as well as the doctor himself checking almost every day for the first 2 weeks and subsequent monthly check ups. I couldn't have felt more comfortable. Now, preset day, I write this review after 1 year post surgery. I could not be happier with the results. From day 1 post op, Dr. Stoller remained in contact. He answered all of my ridiculous questions (sometimes late into the evening), redirected my concerns, and reassured me how optimistic I should be and he was regarding my surgery. Throughout this process, Dr. Stoller made me feel like a patient, not a customer. This was my second HT procedure (HT in 2007), and it was night and day to my first experience. I located Dr. Stoller by way of Yelp, having consulted other practices in the area, including Maxim, among others. From the moment I walked into the office, the office staff was very friendly and welcoming. Thereafter, you are asked to watch a tutorial video about hair transplants (almost like -- hair transplant for dummies which essentially gives you the law of the land). Quickly after that, Dr. Stoller meets you and gives you a diagnosis after evaluating your symptoms, and utilizing a device. Why did I choose Dr. Stoller? He was the first, and only one to actually give me a diagnosis before giving me a treatment plan. I understand plastic surgery is a business, but he actually cared. Dr. Stoller gave me his personal cell phone number and we have texted ever since (and not always about medicine). On surgery day (although expectedly long), he had excellent bedside manner and so did his staff. He explained the risks and benefits of the procedure. After surgery, he would text me to make sure I was healing well. I only got the surgery a few weeks ago, so I don't know if all the hairs will grow yet (apparently takes a full year for growth), but I am confident in Dr. Stoller's abilities. This is a response to Stoller's comment below on my original post of my experiences with him. I would like to give anyone reading these posts or considering a procedure with Stoller some perspective, a little more detailed background to set the scene. i find this necessary because Stoller, once again, is VERY selective, in his recounts of the procedures he performed on me, and once again his story line is filled with contradictions and is counter-intuitive to what he is claiming at the present time. What is accurate is and unchanged is how quickly he reminds us that he's a plastic surgeon and a teaching Doctor. I had my first procedure in 2007 when I was 27 years old with Bosley, procedure went great as I had approximately 1500 grafts transplanted. This was an FUT procedure, as they did not have ARTAS, and FUE was still not widely used as it is today. With an FUT procedure they remove a strip from back of head, approx. from ear to ear, suture you up, and the technicians dissect the follicles into the grafts that will be placed where necessary, the Doctor makes the sites for the hair to be transplanted. As I said it went great within a year all the hair grew, the scar was not even noticeable (almost impossible to find even when I tried to locate it), a good scar should not be more than 1/8th of an inch, which was the thickness of mine. Appoximately 1 and half years go by and I decide to have another procedure, just to tighten up hair line and add more density, I approach Bosley to see if the had any any promos (this was 2008 and Economy was in recession I was in between jobs), they weren't able to offer me something in my budget, so I decided to try Hair Club. I met with Sales person she told me how great Dr. Holzer was, who would be performing my surgery, and was able to give me a great price. I set appointment up a few weeks from our meeting. About 3 days before my procedure Sales person calls me up and tells me that Dr. Holzer is no longer with company and that a new Doctor, by the name of Stoller would be performing my procedure. Wasn't much I could do, I already payed and it was only a couple days away. I get to the office midtown NYC about 7 am, meet with Stoller, NOT ONCE DURING OUR CONSULT DID HE ASK ME ABOUT PREVIOUS PROCEDURE OR EVEN LOOK AT BACK OF MY HEAD TO SEE WHERE DONOR SCAR WAS!!! Of course I'm to blame as well for not stating the obvious, but you have to understand I thought it was understood, and plus my initial experience with hair transplant at Bosley went so well, I was assuming the same here. Now here's where Stoller contradicts himself, in his comments below to my original post he mentions that he did not properly remove the old scar during the excision of new donor strip because hair around scar isn't viable for transplant- I would understand this theory except for the fact the YOUR SCAR intersected with the OLD SCAR, but you see this wasn't done purposefully it's because the good Doctor Stoller DID NOT KNOW THE OTHER SCAR WAS THERE!! If he had then I assume this approach would have been taken, commen sense you cannot keep making new donor sights underneath original sites for FUT. Of course SToller's scar was horrible, it ranged from 1/2"thick(the good side!) to 3/4 ". When i went back to have stitches removed he gave me the usual response of " it's not fully healed yet, give it 6 months or so", about 3 months go by and I know this thing is a problem, based on what I experienced at Bosley, I call him, schedule an appointment. when he sees the scar his words exactly," YEAH WE CANT LEAVE YOU LOOKING LIKE THAT", so we schedule an appointment a few months in advance so that we can let it heal until about the 7 month mark. Without getting into further detail I had approximately 3 scar revisions from 2009-2012 with him, everything ranging from altering scar to transplanting hair in scar, NONE OF WHICH MADE AN ONCE OF IMPROVEMENT, SOME OF HIS EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES WORSENED MY SCAR!! Now I mentioned how rude some of his staff were as our relationship worsened with the failed attempts to correct my situation, yet he felt obligated since he too has a hair transplant and would not like to have 1" thick scar in the back of his head. One employee in particular, her name is ROSA, was the secretary at the time, she purposefully never told him when I left messages and refused to schedule my appointment, always stating it was booked or they were not taking appointments that far in advance when I wanted to schedule more than 1 month ahead for procedures. Rosa would not act on her own like, obviously, so Dr. Stoller was instructing her to do this, he also mentions why I didn't contact him on his cell, I did contact him on his cell numerous times. To summarize, from my experiences with him when things got very complicated and were not as straight forward as a Simple first time hair transplant, he failed and fell flat on his face. GET HAIR. Today I would like to share with you my dream made reality. As some of you may know, four years ago I was diagnosed with cancer, which ultimately lead me to a series of surgical procedures and chemotherapy treatments. With the grace of God and the medical treatments I received I was able to overcome the cancer in my body. Dr. Roy Stoller is an excellent Dr. and a really kind and thoughtful person. He is the second surgeon I had a procedure with due to my frist one not coming out with the desired results I wanted. When I first met with him, he took more time than needed with me to answer every one of my questions (there were a lot!), even if they felt embarassing to ask, he made me feel comfortable and really cares about his patient's feelings, concerns, questions, and them getting the best results. You can tell he does not do this for the money, but because he is passionate about his work. He even diagnosed something on my scalp that answered a lot of questions for why my hair was doing certain things. My first hair surgeon hadn't mentioned or even taught me about this diagnosis, and Dr. Stoller explained it to me with anatomy diagrams and pictures so that I understood, and finally lot of things made sense to me. He was also avaible via text message for me whenever I had a question, answered them all, and even called me in to see him in person regarding my concern, and kept his office open after-hours just for me to be able to make it, because I was coming in after work. After my first surgeon, I consulted with 3 others for a second procedure, and he was the one I chose because of a gut-feeling I had. After several years of research and delaying, I finally made the decision to go forward with hair transplant surgery. I quickly decided on Dr. Stoller after the initial consultation. He was very professional and took his time in discussing with me the various options available. I had lost a good deal of hair on the crown of my head, as well as in the front portion. I underwent my first procedure a little over 4 months ago. Dr. Stoller and I decided to start in the front and work towards the back of my head. It was a 6 hour procedure involving the harvesting of about 2400 grafts. Both he and his staff were very confident, which put me at ease. The recovery period was almost entirely pain free. I know that it takes about a full year to see the true results, but I am already seeing a return of my frontal hair line. I will be going to see Dr. Stoller in about 3 1/2 weeks for my follow-up appointment to check on my progress. At that time, I plan on scheduling my second procedure for sometime in late April to fill in the crown area. After extensive research and "shopping around" for a reputable surgeon I chose Dr. Stoller. This is one of the best decisions I've ever made! Simply life changing.
