George was absolutely amazing!! He was very knowledgeable and had amazing facts with some added dad jokes! He allowed us plenty of time for pictures. This was a must tour and my wife and I enjoyed it. A great introduction to Washington DC.

Highly recommend the night tour if you just began your trip in DC. George was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information about different buildings, monuments, sculptures and even famous eateries. My group made 6 different stops to walk around and take photos. If you're taking the tour when it is really humid, you may want to bring mosquito repellent. You may also want to bring a beverage. George does provide water but it was so hot and humid the night I went on that I was craving an iced beverage. George was an excellent tour guide. He is friendly and was like a walking encyclopedia of DC. Some facts needed a fact check though. I got to see a lot during this tour. It beats walking and taking different buses to see everything. It was also hard to see some things since you are in a van and it was dark.

We were excited to be able to see some of the historic sites and memorials in Washington, DC, at night. A three hour tour? Hmmm... I get apprehensive whenever I hear "a three hour tour, a three hour tour. The weather started..." Luckily, the tour was not on a boat. LOL. White House: The official residence & working place of the President of the U.S. The West Wing, the residence, and the Oval Office - The East Wing, where the Lincoln bedroom is located. U.S. Capitol - The Westside of the U.S. Capitol - The House and Senate Chambers - Ulyesses Grant, Garfield & The Peace Monument. National World War II Memorial - spectacular memorial with Lincoln in the background. Jefferson Memorial - The Tidal Basin surrounded with the Japanese flowering cherry blossom trees. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial - The MLK & FDR Memorials. Lincoln Memorial - Lincoln Memorial - Vietnam Veterans Memorial - Korean Memorial. U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial (Pass By only). This depicts the six flag raises at the Iwo Jima Memorial. You could see the Washington Monument as it towers overhead everything else. George was our tour guide and has lived and worked in Washington, DC, for over 30 years. "His experience as a concierge, licensed tour guide, and extensive experience in the tour business helped him gain knowledge of the history, culture, and architecture of Washington, DC." The tour was a bit rushed in some sense. But at least George kept on schedule. Also, depending on where your seat was in the van, sometimes the sites were on the opposite side of you, so it was hard to take pictures of certain things.

As a kid in Jr High I did a night tour of the monuments. I was happy to be able to take my own son on a night tour of the same monuments, as well as a few new ones that weren't built yet on my first trip to DC. George does a really nice tour, the bus was clean and comfortable, room for 12 but we had a few empty seats, makes for a very manageable group size. George even went out of the way to get us to a monument were on of the roads was closed, he knew an alternate route, good thing, Jefferson Monument is one of the best to see at night.

This is our second time enjoying a tour with George. I could not recommend him enough. He is one of the best tour guides I have ever experienced.

After reading all the wonderful ratings and their website, it's no wonder this company is highly rated. We are a party of 10 with extended family members ranging from 8-84 years old with one senior member needing more care - which George (our tour guide, co-owner) was so gracious about accommodating his needs and the tour to minimize walking. He was warm, friendly, welcoming, witty, engaging and extremely knowledgeable about all the DC monuments and buildings along the way. He was also so nice to pick us all up at Founding Farmers even when running a few minutes behind. All in all, a wonderful experience and family memories we won't forget. Thank you George! read more

We took the day time tour last month with George. He picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off at the Smithsonian after the tour which was a great time saver for us! He was very friendly and informative. The van was comfortable and the small tour size was perfect for us. We were able to see all the major highlights in just a few hours and met some great people along the way. We got terrific pictures as well. The price is very reasonable for the value we received. Highly recommend Sam and Sal's Tours! ***Forgot to add, one of the gentlemen on our tour was a Vietnam Vet so George decided to add a stop at the Vietnam Memorial for him. I thought that was such a great and thoughtful gesture. read more

We took the tour on a Saturday night, a very busy Saturday night, and George still managed to give us a fabulous time! I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to navigate the crowds, and traffic in DC this time of year. Yet he managed to entertain us, capture the essence of DC, and still show us the sites! Booked this nighttime monument tour with Sam & Sal as a recommendation by another tour guide. This company did not disappoint! George our guide (and father to Sam & Sal) was top notch! He was informative, funny and went above and beyond to ensure our tour was enjoyable (such as, pointing out architecture and other informative tidbits that I had not heard on other tours). We were only in DC for a night so we knew we had to make the most of our short time. After researching yelp and google, I found George with Sam & Sal tours and couldn't be happier I did. He was extremely prompt and courtesy when securing my confirmation. The 15 passenger van was clean and perfect for a trip around town. He made the most of our 3 hour tour and we had 6 stops. The night tour was the BEST way to sightsee around DC and when I bring others to DC with me in the future, I will book this again. Not only did he offer bottled water, and let me charge my phone while we were in the van, he brought us back to our hotel and dropped us off. Best part of our trip!! We learned so much about the history and architecture of all the buildings and monuments. George was very nice and had some funny stories. Go with this your not the big ones you get way more stops. Other tours drivers looked like they were herding cattle at the stops. read more

My dad and I took a night tour in mid July and it was fantastic! I had never been to DC before and was really looking to see as many monuments as possible. This tour stopped at every major monument and memorial you could think of. It was a very personalized experience and not like the typical bus tours you take in a big city. You could tell George (the tour guide) was very knowledgeable and he was so entertaining. He had water for each guest, kept the bus at a comfortably cool temp, and was so incredibly polite the entire time. Not to mention he was a great photographer too! I would recommend every friend and family member I have to take this tour, I even hope I can take it again one day. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. read more

My family and I took this awesome tour on Wednesday (6/21/23), and we absolutely loved it ! We saw so much of the city, and we loved being able to get off to take pictures at 6 different locations. I did a lot of research on a night tours, and most other companies only let you off at a 2-3 sights. I loved that the tour only could have 14 people max, so it made the tour seem more intimate. George was our tour guide, and he was perfect! I highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in taking a night tour! read more

George is an Excellent tour guide! We took the Evening Monument tour. He provided detailed information and history. He even had us do a Lincoln Memorial trivia. George shared facts not only about the memorials and White House but also about things along the way including about the significance of statues of generals on horses; Embassy row, the number of circles, and other landmarks and interesting businesses. The tour was 3 hrs, 7-10 pm. The usual pick up and drop off site is the Metro Station but since we had a group of 9, he offered to pick up and drop off at the Omni Shoreham Hotel!! If you have never visited Washington DC definitely recommend a tour with Sam and Sals. George was awesome! Gave us lots of facts. Made us feel like family and told us a bunch of fun jokes. Took us all around the major tourist spots for quick stops and photo opportunities. We booked a private tour and the difference in price wasn't much. Best part was we had the whole van to ourselves. During our trip it was cold, so being in a nice warm comfortable van was perfect. George also suggested places to visit while in DC. Can say enough good things about George. Definitely recommend going on a tour on your first day in DC. read more

Sam and Sal Tours - Second to none! Coordination was great prior to the day of the tour. I had a large group of 7 adults and one toddler who all flew in from the west coast. With older parents who have a hard time walking and taking public transportation, George was super kind to pick us up from our hotel and the same for drop off. Tour wise, he hit all the highlights of DC and gave excellent background information of what we were going to see with a splash of humor. Vehicle was roomy and cool (a must for this current heat wave). At the end, he asked if we wanted to see anything else, but we were tired. Great time with Sam and Sal Tours! read more

We had a fantastic Wednesday night Moonlight tour with George on 6/28/23! I'd shopped around and this was the only tour that offered the most amount of time (3 hours) and stops (6) which included drive-bys of many other points of interest! Our van-like vehicle was very comfortable, and I especially liked that the tour felt more personable since it had a max of 14 guests only. George was SO knowledgeable and this experience was more than we expected. I highly recommend this tour if you want to see DC at night - we saw SO much of the city and we loved every moment of it! read more

This was an exceptional tour! George was our tour guide and he did a fantastic job highlighting the historical background of each monument, memorial, and building that we saw. His mix of humor, facts, and trivia kept our group engaged. We enjoyed the small bus (Sprinter van) atmosphere. No waiting for loading and unloading, didn't feel rushed, and the tour was tailored to our group. We joined with a family of 4, with their 4th and 6th grade girls who were very well behaved, and George made his comments and jokes appropriate for all. We highly recommend Sam and Sal tours! We saw groups from the big bus tours and they looked miserable, while our group was happy and enjoyed the tour from start to finish. read more

Reading all the Five Star reviews on Yelp, made my decision on which company to choose very easy. We did not want a large impersonal bus tour with lots of people. Turns out I made the right decision. George picked us up in his large, comfortable van. He was very informative and shared much information about DC and the fabulous monument's. Such a thrill seeing them lit up at night and DC shining like a star. I would also recommend to try to see some of them during the day as well if you have time. Dropped us at the wrong train station at 10:30 pm and we had to walk 8 blocks in a not nice part of town to get our train to the hotel. Hard to understand with a heavy accent and my wife was in the back seat with only a small window to look out. She missed a lot of the points of interest read more

Hello and Welcome to Washington, DC! As the first-generation immigrant from Eritrea, I have witnessed the term, "America is a land of opportunity". I arrived in 1981 and worked while I studied and graduated with a degree of Business Admistration in 1990 from George State University in Atlanta. After graduation, I came to visit Washington, DC and I fell in love with the city and I decided to make it home.

She also made sure our group stayed together and safely crossed the streets. I was concerned that it would be hard to hear given the traffic and Saturday night usual cacophony that is Georgetown but that generally wasn't a problem. We didn't see any ghosts - DRAT! But we did have fun and learn some history along the way. We would recommend this tour company and this particular tour.

My gut feeling was spot on. What a FANTASTIC tour!! We were assigned Tony and Cheikh (pronounced "Shake") and they were just incredible and both--together--toured my family around Washington DC like absolute professionals. Years in the business, each of them, we saw and experienced the District of Columbia in a very nice black SUV--super clean and comfortable. We toured in the evening, and I'd say that the words "Paris on the Potomac" are not used in vein. This city is absolutely spectacular at night--but what made it even better was Tony and Cheikh. We would not have been anywhere near as efficient nor as well informed as we were this evening without them. We found ourselves at every single stop asking questions along our tour. Why this? What's that? When did so and so happen? What is the significance? What's that over there? And so many more. Frankly, Tony was probably tired of it--but my real sense is that he enjoyed it too! Here's the difference with PTW--your tour guide stays with you answering all your inquisitive questions and your driver stays with the car and drives up to meet you whenever and wherever the tour guide shares with him to be. Walk into one side of a memorial, come out another--no problem. You may think only one person can handle both tasks--but that would be an incorrect assumption. Not here in DC--just too much to see and do. Do yourself a favor and book with PTW--and you'll be forever grateful for the totally inclusive and immersive experience in our nation's Capitol. It was simply unbelievable for us. Thanks to Cheikh, Tony, Bill & Team PTW.

One day, I walked in and they didn't have availability for that day so I made a verbal reservation for the next week. The tour is guided by their tour guide and lasts around 90 minutes. The guide shows you four floors of rooms with artifacts. You'll learn about Rob Hubbard's impressive life, see his office with original artifacts inside including a Mongolian drum from Genghis Khan's army that's over 800 years old. You'll also see a library with his books, see where he recorded his lessons, and learn about Scientistology. As someone who is not part of their church, I didn't feel evangelized to during the tour. What a wonderful evening we had with George! The morning of our reservation I received a call from George to confirm our reservation and he let me know that he would take us back to our VRBO so that we wouldn't need to take to Metro then walk the rest of the way back. I think that was very generous and kind. Our meeting place was easy to get to and George was there waiting for us at our scheduled time. His van is very clean, comfortable and easy to see out of with large windows. He provided us with cold water he had available in a small cooler. Although I've been to Washington DC a few times before this trip, i learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. George provided a great deal of information as we slowly passed by about places and buildings that I would have not known anything about. Although I've been to the monuments before, George informed us about symbolism built within I had no idea about. The amount of time we spent at each monument was very adequate. The monuments are exceptionally beautiful when lit up at night and I highly recommend taking a tour with George to see them. read more

This is the best tour....EVER!! There were three of us traveling for work, one of which had never visited D.C. We wanted to make sure that while we had some free time that they would get to see the most well known monuments. I had been on a few tours before and knew the night tour would work for our schedule. During my search I expected to find big bus tours with a couple dozen people, and listening to one monotone voice for three hours. When I found Sam & Sal , I was almost in shock that I could book a van, with a smaller group making it more of a private tour and there were stops at all the places we had on our bucket list. At a great price. One big plus was that George picked us up at our hotel. The way George interacted with us, giving us some fun trivia, pointing out the irony within Washington DC and answering our questions was amazing!! That night I spoke to my family and shared that when we visit again, we should book a private tour! I know I said it before but... BEST TOUR EVER!!! read more

This small group night tour was a great option to explore Washington, DC. George our guide was knowledgeable and funny. We were not rushed, and he gave us plenty of time to get off, take pictures, and be back on the van. He was able to pick us up at our hotel; which was great. Unfortunately, do to the NATO Summit and streets being blocked we were not able to swing by the White House for pictures. But, he did tell us that we could take an Uber and walk the short distance that is allowed near the White House. I also would like to thank George for getting control of the tour. We had several ladies that were talking loudly as George was giving the group a brief history about the monuments or the buildings we were passing. He told them that since we are a small group with limited time, it would be best to -- in nicer words -- shut up and allow others to enjoy the tour....Drop the mic. I can't even begin to say how AMAZING George was from Sam & Sal Tours. We had a private 3-hour night tour of Washington DC. His communication leading up to our trip (from the moment I booked) was second to none. He was so knowledgeable, friendly and funny. Honestly, we spent a week in DC touring everything we could get into, we took this tour our 1st day there and even by the end of the week my entire family said that George and our night tour was by far the biggest highlight of our trip. Seeing the monuments/memorials in the evening was spectacular but having George tell us about all of them prior to arriving (and taking family pictures for us) was so special. I am so glad I kept looking past the bus and trolley tours for a tour with a smaller number of people! George actually picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel! His van was comfortable and well-equipped. The tour lasted 3+ hours and was quite amazing. The views of the National Mall monuments and memorials at night were inspiring and George was a wealth of information and was so friendly and accommodating. We had time at so many memorable stops for pictures and just to take in the history of this great nation. There were 5 of us including my 13 and 14 year old grandchildren and they hung on George's narrative of the history of DC and its honored heroes. Being unfamiliar with DC, we did some research and opted for this night tour- it was the highlight of our trip! The small group experience was good- and air conditioned (a key factor on a steamy August night). We were able to get in and out of the vehicle at The White House, the Capitol, The Jefferson Memorial, The Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial, MLK and Korean Memorials. Along the way we saw many, many other smaller monuments, George pointed out lots of buildings and some fun facts about them. George was personable and knowledgeable. I'd recommend this tour to anyone-- as long as getting in and out of a minivan isn't an issue for you. I'd even do this tour again. read more

Based on the reviews, my wife and I decided to go on a Sam & Sal night tour. This was one of the highlights of our trip to DC. We normally go on the larger tours but this time thought we might try a smaller one. George picked us up promptly and we toured with 3 other groups (9 people total). He not only stopped at the advertised monuments but showed us many of the landmark buildings in the city. George was very friendly, knowledgeable, and just an all-around great host. I got Yelp just to be able to compliment this tour. Chose the tour because it had a perfect rating and this is completely deserved. This is the ideal way to tour the city - he shows you all the main sights, very knowledgeable with the essential facts and fun extras that you wouldn't get on a big bus tour. He lets you stop off to check out the sights in person, get photos, take rest breaks etc. and makes sure you're well looked after the entire tour.
