The office is aesthetically nice, stylish, and fitting for Beverly Hills. But beneath the surface, it's surprisingly chaotic and unorganized. The doctor himself was shockingly rude and arrogant. I couldn't believe he actually yelled at a patient who was simply expressing discomfort with his implant. It didn't happen to me, but I was watching him when he was yelling and was ready to attack an old man! I changed my mind to go there, and I strongly caution others not to be fooled by glossy advertising and fancy décor. A dentist may be skilled, but if he lacks compassion and basic respect for his patients, even the best qualifications mean nothing! read more

Not going to lie I was fearing this extremely invasive surgery for months with a dark cloud over my head, however Dr. Markzar was not only kind, gentle, extremely precise skilled and efficient, I felt no pain at all and everything was a breeze. This review is for the lack of professionalism of Ida, the front desk staff who answered my call and not on the Periodontist. I called this place a short moment ago for the first time to schedule an appointment. The woman who answered (Ida) was incredibly rude and unprofessional. She has no business answering their phones and being the first point of contact as rude and unprofessional as she is. Here's how the call went: Me: Hello my name Susana and I am calling to schedule an appointment please. Ida: FOR WHAT? Me: Is this the front desk or an answering service? Ida: It's the front desk. Me: Is this how you greet all callers? Ida: well I asked you, "FOR WHAT!" I was so confused, I thought I had called the wrong number or thought I had perhaps reached their answering service as I had reached an after hours answering service when I called them another time in an attempt to schedule my first appointment . I had to confirm if I was calling the front desk and asked her name. I told her I was calling for the first time and asked her if this is how she greeted all callers. I asked if there was someone else I could speak to who could help me because I didn't want to speak with her. She said well we don't have any available appointments until February and my colleague can help you with that. Then she placed me on hold without telling me to hold. Advice to Ida: when someone calls and asks to schedule an appointment, you should consider being more professional and stating the following: Sure, I'll be happy to help you with that. Are you an existing patient or is this your first time calling? DON'T rudely ask with a dry tone, "FOR WHAT?" and then argue with the caller that you didn't know it was their first time calling and that's why you asked "FOR WHAT". read more

There's a reason it can take a long time to get an appointment with Dr. Marzar, but in the end it's worth the wait. One of the WORST dental experiences. This office lacks integrity in its billing practices. So beware even if you have insurance. They won't quote you the correct cost (patient responsibility) when they initially run your insurance and then will later tell you an amount that's quadruple what their initial estimate was after WHILE you are having your procedure done. The front office receptionists are also very difficult and unpleasant to deal with when it comes to scheduling and getting correct information. Not to mention they are often unprofessional in how they speak to and treat people who come into the office. It's unacceptable for an office to turn off the lights in the reception in the evening when your family member is waiting there for you to finish your appt. read more

Dr. Markzar is my 3rd periodontist. My first was in Switzerland, which is known for its top rated healthcare, and the second in Tarzana, who was also very good. However, Dr. Markzar is truly exceptional! (1) He cares. (2) His work is impeccable. (3) He is very gentle! (4) He works with integrity and teaches you how to take care of gums and teeth. (5) He has an amazing assistant, Brittney, who is very professional, kind, and seems to anticipate patients' needs before they do. In the past 4 years I underwent several gum surgeries with Dr. Markzar. My pain threshold is very low, I have trouble with any medical oral procedures, and while my physical health is otherwise very good so far, my gums are my Achilles heel. I'm writing this review the day after my last surgery and like with the other three, I am surprised by the very little to no pain I'm experiencing even though it was an extensive procedure. I will always be thankful to Dr. Markzar for the newly found health of my gums and as a result, the longevity of my teeth. I recommend him whole-heartedly! read more

After cracking a tooth, I was referred to Dr. Markzar by my General Dentist, who described him as "the best". He said "You have to go to him, you might need to wait awhile for an appointment, but you must go to him." I needed to wait awhile for a consultation, but it was one of the best medical experiences I've had, with a detailed walk through of my issue, including a CATSCAN seeing my entire jaw in 3D, where he explained everything visually. I recorded it to save because it was utterly fascinating and insightful. He covered genetics, bone and gum thickness, effects of orthodontics, stability of the teeth, how the teeth are situated in the skull, relationship to sinuses, how the implant would work, how deep it could go and more. I felt like I was Dennis Quaid in the movie Innerspace, taking this multi-dimensional tour of my own body. I proceeded to get my tooth extraction bone graft with him and the attention to detail in care and management pre and post surgery is unmatched. Unbelievably, I felt no pain. I cannot recommend Dr. Markzar highly enough. A few years ago, I needed a dental surgery, which he performed without pain, with no complications, and was very precise. A few days ago, my daughter had a dental emergency. He answered our call (and my daughter was not his patient) on a weekend, calmed me down, and saw my daughter the next day. Horrible experience! If I could give a 0, I would. My father went in at the end of January for services from this office. The next day he had horrible tooth pain. Like BLARING PAIN. I have never heard this man complain in my life, but I can tell how bad his pain was because he complained and was bed written for days. He is 75 years old with many health complications, and should not be in this condition. He has been calling every day since then to ask the doctor to look and see what is causing his pain and he has been completely disregarded, and told he can come by in 2 weeks!!! after already waiting 1 week with unbearable pain. This office DOES NOT TAKE CARE OF THEIR PATIENTS. They don't care about the actual person. I am so disappointed by this experience and truly cannot believe they are just letting an elderly man sit in pain for weeks on end without any effort to help him or squeeze him in.
