Knowlegeable, caring eye doctor. I have a rare condition and it's refreshing to not have to explain my situation. I feel like I am in very good hands with Dr Sato. Also, his staff is very pleasant, which makes a huge difference when you need to undergo an eye exam It appears to be primarily a pediatric practice, but because of the doctor's experience, I prefer to stay under his care rather than go with someone else. But, be ready to see a whole bunch of munchkins when you go in for your appointment. read more

My son was scheduled to be seen (by Dr. Sato) for his annual eye exam. Prior to 2016 my son had always seen another Ophthalmologist on staff and never experienced any issues other than a rather long wait time. We sat in the lobby for 4 hours and finally saw Dr. Sato. Dr. Sato made several culturally offensive comments about my son's name. That was bad enough but his demeanor indicated that he was amused by his own comment. The fact that we had to pay a $50 copay and my son had to wait 4 hours to disrespected and humiliated is absolutely deplorable. read more

If I could give this office zero stars I would. DO NOT GO HERE! appointment was at 3:20, it's 5:30 and we're still waiting to have final visit with doctor. I would have left already but my daughters eyes were dilated and I was told the wait wouldn't be long after that...LIE! They close at 5 yet there's a room full of people waiting to be seen. I am giving the office of Dr. Sam Sato one star only because I am unable to give them zero. I received a referral for Dr. Sato from my insurance company and after calling them for 3 weeks at various times of day and never speaking to a human, I have given up and requested a new doctor. Something fishy is going on with this office. I highly recommend not wasting your time with these doctors, especially if it is an urgent matter. read more

One star only because I can't leave zero. I got a referral from the pediatrician to see this doctor in April. I called every couple of weeks and they kept claiming they didn't have it. I had the office resend TWICE. Went in and was told 'Oh, we've had the referral since April!' IN JULY. FINALLY we get in for an appointment and not only did the doctor have the personality and bedside manner of a piece of steamed cabbage, I'm pretty sure he low-key threatened my firstborn. We live in Tucson, so there's not much choice, but you better believe I'm looking for someone else! read more

We drive from Sierra Vista to Tucson to have my son's eyes checked every six months. We use to see Dr. Rita and she was GREAT! Unfortunately she is no longer there. We had to wait nearly one hour after my son's eyes were dilated, only to have Dr. Sato walk in without saying a word...literally did the fastest exam ever...and out the door he was, without asking if we had any questions. He was very rude, and seemed like he was being inconvenienced by our presence. WILL be looking for another eye doctor for our son. This is ridiculous! read more

Like the other reviewer mentioned, Dr. Sato is clearly over booking patients so he can bill more. This results in long wait times, several hours past the original appointment time. This is unacceptable. read more

Got a referral to see Dr. Sato. Long story short. Immediately, he said my son needed glasses. Insurance only covers so much, so I spend the extra money to get the best at his office. The follow up appointment was 4-6 weeks. The glasses finally came in. Son wore it for 2 days before his next appoint. Dr. Sato claim that his vision was fine, and that he does not need glasses anymore. Wow..miracle cure? Wait, I just spent $200 on glasses and now he does not need them? When I ask Dr. Sato how things changed so fast and what he said last time, he just ended the conversation with "His vision is fine." Son had no vision problems to begin with? Just got con into purchasing something we didn't need. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. This is the worst doctors office I have every been into for multiple reasons. First, you will go in there an immediately hear children screaming bloody murder! Dr. Sato insists you dilating every patients eyes, and he chooses not to use the dilation drops that do not have a numbing agent, thus, the drops burn, and you get to hear poor little children screaming the entire time you are at the office. Second, Dr. Sato makes you wait 2 hours after dilation to see the patient. So if your appointment is at 9 AM, you WILL NOT see him until 11 AM (at the earliest). All the people that work at the office claim that it takes 2 hours for your eyes to fully dilate, NOT TRUE... FYI it takes 15 minutes, so the 2 hours is just a way for the doctor to double and triple book patients and have an entirely too full waiting room of crying children! Third, WATCH WHAT YOU SIGN. The fine print will SCREW you out of LOTS of MONEY. The charge ungodly amounts of money of doing NOTHING!!! AGAIN DO NOT GO HERE. read more
