Parking tends to be easy if you're patient with those leaving class before yours. The room feels very spacious and large. The con is that this location gets warm. Unlike some of the other ones that have air flowing, this one feels like it depends on fans, so an afternoon class in the summer will really get your heart rate going because of how hot it is. The format of the workout is three stations- cardio, racks and turf. If the class isn't full, you are able to double up. I like to start with cardio to get it out of the way. The coach will demo moves for all stations beforehand and then signal you when it's time to move to the next exercise. The class keeps a great pace and has you moving with very brief recovery breaks. Weekend classes are full body where the weekday ones have a focus area. Really love getting to come to these classes! They are tough but a solid calorie burn and sweat!

Carmel Valley is a solid, well maintained location with the familiar OTF rhythm: clean space, organized floor, and that corporate template that keeps everything predictable no matter where you drop in. Parking is surprisingly abundant for this area. The only odd thing is that the prime spots right in front are labeled 30 minute parking even though every class is a full hour. It's a small detail, but it jumps out every time you pull in. Classes here fill up fast. And I mean fast. Waitlists are the norm, and I've been turned away more than once. If you're not booking early, you're rolling the dice. As for coaching, I haven't found a standout yet at this location. Everyone is competent and friendly, but the coaching style stays pretty homogenous thanks to the tight OTF corporate structure. If you're looking for consistency, you'll get it. If you're looking for a coach who completely changes your game, I haven't met that person here. Overall, it's a clean, reliable studio that delivers exactly what OTF promises: heart rate monitors, clear metrics, and a workout where you're competing against yourself in the best way.

I signed up a month ago, and from the very beginning I had various issues with my heart rate monitor. It felt like all the different girls at the reception kept giving me the runaround and I was getting frustrated having to use a loaner every time and hearing different answers from different people. Finally, I was able to meet with the manager, Amelia, and she really turned around my whole experience. She immediately fixed all my issues without me even having to ask, which I really appreciated. Ever since then, I'm a happy member! I have the unlimited membership and go about 4-5 times a week. I love all the classes and all the coaches! I never thought I'd enjoy a treadmill workout, but I even take the Tread50 classes once a week and they're a lot of fun!

After having enough, I called the place nearest to me I could walk to. I was ultimately introduced to and booked with an exceptional trainer, Katie Kurtz. So glad I connected with her. Katie is so knowledgeable, inspirational and genuine. She pays mind to injuries or "bad days" and pivots workouts on the fly to avoid further injury/issues when needed. She does not just keep going- she checks in regularly throughout our hour sessions to see if she needs to rearrange the next step if needed. She starts the workouts always asking if there are any issues she should be aware of, and if you answer honestly, she goes from there to re-craft the session. She is strong, tough, fierce, attentive, and skillful. Really hard and great workouts- tuned for me! I was surrounded by the other staff at BRF often- good vibes, great personalities, and lots of hard workouts there. In addition, I have seen significant improvements in my both fitness and muscle definition. If you have the means to hire a personal trainer, I highly recommend doing so. Ethan does a great job of tailoring workouts to push his clients to their max. Another suggestion: if you order personal workouts, bring a friend. Nothing gets the competitive juices flowing like watching a friend do more push ups than you!

I started doing zoom Gut Check fitness routines with Joe and Nicole during the Covid shutdowns and instead of drinking and gaining weight, I lost weight, gained strength and endurance and had fun doing it. I don't really like waking up that early and can't always do them on those days, which works out as you can do these workouts any time and day of the week. They also have in person group classes. Why I like it: 1) I could never get a work out like this on my own. The mix of cardio, strength, and just plain belligerent challenge is beyond the realm of my imagination. They don't call it bootcamp for nothing. 2) Joe is a very motivational and dynamic trainer. He and Nicole have great attitudes and push you but only as far as you can go. They do most of the workout with you and spend the rest of the time cheering you on. 3) Even without the Groupon, this is good value. The classes are usually small enough to get a good amount of attention (unless you go to one of the special ones like a "hit the surf" workout but then the big group is just super fun). Even in the bigger group, Joe organizes it very well and you will definitely get what you need. WARNING: Initial side effects include nausea/vomiting, inability to raise one's arms above ones head, and "Chihuahua quiver" after participation in activities like "Dragon's Backbone." DO NOT be alarmed. No one has died yet. Try it, you might just like it.

I was having a rough day and, of course, forgot my hair tie, which meant I already knew my workout wouldn't feel quite right. When I walked in to check in, Mikayla greeted me with a smile. I asked if she happened to have a rubber band, to use as a hair tie. She looked around but couldn't find one, and just as I was feeling even more defeated from the day, she offered me her own hair tie. It may seem like a small gesture, but it genuinely meant so much to me in that moment. Mikayla didn't have to offer, but she did with kindness and warmth that completely shifted my mood.
