My daughter and I have been coming here for years. I'm not sure if I've written a review in the past but after my appointment today, I knew I definitely had to. The whole team has always been so amazing here and Dr. Vu is the absolute best. I went to get a cavity filled today and we had discussed fixing a chip on my front tooth, evening them out, as well as covering some yellow spots using composite. At the end of the appointment when he handed me a mirror, I couldn't believe it! I've been self-conscious with my teeth for years and Dr. Vu really took his time to make sure they looked perfect. I couldn't be happier and would totally recommend him if you want someone who's skilled and actually cares about how your teeth look. His dental work is top-tier. read more

Dr. Vu is wonderful, he has consistently helped me and my mother for years. He is my moms dentist and I was referred to him as a second opinion after my tooth crown fell off.. My dentist in the east bay tried to charge me around $2500 to fix the crown but I thought it could just be glued back on.. I drove to San Jose and showed the crown to Dr. Vu and he fixed it immediately for free.. I am so grateful for Dr. Vu's help and to be able to actually trust someone in dentistry who looks out for my best interest instead of just trying to make as much money as possible. I went in for a consult to get work done on 4/10, I was told it would take up to two weeks to find out how much my insurance would cover. I came in and paid $950 which was what I was told was my portion outside of insurance. I receive a bill from Samaritan Dental for $1,000 on 7/1 for the remainder, I looked at my Aetna explanation of benefits and it showed everything was denied since the dental office did not submit photos to Aetna and I have 15 days to get it remedied from that notice. I called the dental office and attempted to explain to the office lady the issue and she stated she would get back to me, next day I called again and the office lady said she passed it along to the office manager. I called Aetna and they have been attempting to reach the office and nobody pics up even though it clearly shows open for business. I'm still awaiting an outcome and hope my credit score isn't hurt in anyway due to their own incompetence and borderline dishonesty to send me a bill when they didn't do what is asked by insurance claims. read more

Dr Allen Vu has been my dentist for over five years. In that time, I've always felt confident that he gives me the best care. He has a very holistic approach to taking care of our family's teeth. We had been putting off getting braces for my son who has a underbite and Dr Vu suggested going with an expander which was a lot less expensive. It was amazing and really helped to correct most of my son's problems. The hygienist, Megan, was also very careful and gentle when cleaning my teeth. I highly recommend Dr Vu's dental service. Update: there's a substitute hygienist that is very thorough while Megan is on maternity leave. read more

Allen Vu is head and shoulders above most dentists. He does excellent high quality work. He is a graduate of UCSF Dental School (the finest in the world I'm told), he cares about his patients, and he's not focused on money. He puts his patients first. Which is one rare combination of traits. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. It is a super friendly and different kind of dental office. Normally I do not review dentists because who wants to put potential payback power in a dental drill that's going in your mouth next visit?! I keep thinking about the sadistic dentist in 'Little Shop of Horrors.' Samaritan Dental is the kind of practice that prints your name on a colored sheet of paper and puts the welcome sign right on the reception desk. The staff goes out of their way to be friendly and well-mannered. I thought the dental hygienist and Dr. Vu were great and spot on with their chairside manner: they were firm about what I was neglecting but never 'in loco parentis' toward me. I never look forward to these excruciating meetings, and I'm about to have even more dental work done in the coming weeks, so trust me, if I write up a dentist, it is a practice I can recommend. read more

My family sees Dr. Vu (husband and two young kids) and it's a pleasure. Dr. Vu is professional and his staff is very friendly - they remember your name and make you feel welcome. Nice variety of magazines and a basket of yummy snacks and fruit and a kid's activity table (kept my 4 year old busy). They are rarely far behind schedule so I've never waited more than a few minutes for my appointment. Dr. Vu also gives you teeth whitener trays and teeth whitener at your visits to keep your teeth looking good. But not a perfect 5 start rating because my first visit was ridiculously long. It took over 2 hours to examine, xray, clean and mold my teeth for the trays. The girl doing the molding (that sticky putty like stuff that makes you gag) kept messing it up and she had to do it 4 times. Refill the trays and shove that thing down my throat 4 times. Finally someone else stepped in to help. I haven't seen that girl since - not sure if she's still there or not. I was a little annoyed no one noticed I had been there so long but all other appts have gone quickly, smoothly. read more

Dr. Vu is AWESOME! the entire staff is outstanding. the friendliest group of people that all introduce themselves to you with a nice firm hand shake and welcoming smile. They use some incredible state of the art equipment that i've not seen before. really cool digital xrays and amazingly clear photographs of my teeth in question (stupid cavities). I love this dental office. I have an HMO and some of the dentists in the HMO are less than trustworthy. I always check with Samaritan dental to see if I really need the work. It is really nice to have a dental office I can trust. I also pay for a cleaning at Samaritan dental once a year to make sure they are clean, even though I can get cleanings for free from my HMO. Dr Vu , great dentists,awesome , nice and friendly. My family ALL have gone to him for years and years . Now the bad , had problem with down turn (house upside down) and talk to Dr Vu made agrement on payment "Great" someone who will work through a tough time !! LOVE him.Later a new (at the time) office staff person puts you into collection and states she has NOT , and still takes payments, ok but after paying the blance from over $4k down to $1,409.00 you find out YOU are in collection and your score has dropped . Go to talk to Dr Vu in person and he walks right by and won't take 1 min to see if it s is a miss understanding or what. Not the man I though he was . The person he has doing payments is not telling him when problems come up or he no longer cares . Not sure if its staff or Dr Vu but paying off old blance and moving on to new DDS. read more

I thought I would like a pediatric dentist for the kids but my kids love Dr . Dr Vu has been my dentist since I was a young kid. As I child I would eat lots of candy and drink a lot of soda just so I could see him again and again. Then my mom told me that our insurance only covered 2 visits a year so I cut back on the junk food. That was a good thing because my teeth started to get a lot of cavities.
