I called them up and within 2 days they were able to come by to install furniture, assemble, and hook up electrical for me in just a few hours. Same Day Builders does a whole lot of talking and not enough working. I don't know how many times I have heard the word "Happy". Sam told me all he wants to do is to make me "Happy". I have been waiting, but he could not fulfill his promises, not even when he offered to fix something for free. Same Day Builders are unprofessional. They have a very limited working crew, and most of them are incompetent to handle anything else but drywall and painting. At this time, Isaac usually steps in if you are lucky enough to get him to come on time or to come to stay and actually do the work. I have had them here for around 3 months. They failed to start on some of my home, improvement projects. The projects that they did start were never ever finished. Many wires are sticking out everywhere from my kitchen walls. I have open holes in my ceiling. My kitchen nook, bathroom, and pocket door is empty, no lights, and no toilet to flush. Same Day Builders sent their first plumber, who I might add, wanted to work on my electrical too. Enrique worked on my plumbing while he forgot to turn his truck off and left it running. He asked my husband to help him jumpstart his truck. While Enrique was here. He told me that he refuses to go under the house unless I pay him more money. Paying Sam, the owner more money seems to be the theme of his business without any kind of strategy, planning or a timeline in place. On the first day he asked me to pay him $6k for phase 1 of the home remodeling project. Two weeks later Sam asked for another $6k for phase 2. In the same day Sam asked me for an additional $3,502 for a deposit on the front and back doors. I canceled the doors 3 to 4 days later. He wanted me to pay $875 restocking fees. I asked Sam to show me the receipt from the manufacturer. He could not produce it. 3 to 4 weeks later, the kitchen cabinets were starting to take shape, but the kitchen had not been painted. The drywall was almost finished and trash was left in the front of my house. Sam asked me for more money because the "boys" have not been paid. Sam and Isaac ganged up on me for five nights in February after the worker's went home. I had endured this treatment from both Sam and Isaac for 4-5 days because they wanted payment from me to pay their worker's. Sam said he spent $900 on them already. Isaac looked at me sadly, and said, please we need your help. We need money to pay the boys. Even though, I told them I had already given them plenty of money they would not let it go. I tried to hash it out with them.. Isaac and I came up with some solutions but the solution Isaac came up with did not seem favorable to me. Sam demanded I pay. I told Sam I would pay him $1k. "He said that is not good enough." Somewhere around that time they packed up all of their belongings and tools and left. We agreed to meet again on the following Monday, March 1. Marissa their administrator conducted the meeting. After the meeting I paid an additional $4,874 for them to finally complete and finish my kitchen remodel once and for all within a certain amount of time. The time frame to finish was very sketchy, but I would have to pay the remainder upon completion, and to my satisfaction when all of the work is finished. My kitchen, laundry area and bathroom may look like it has been completed to Sam because the kitchen cabinets take up most of the space in the kitchen. Actually, nothing has been worked on since I paid him last at the meeting except for the kitchen cabinets, there was only one worker who worked on my cabinets for only 3 days in the whole month of March. Isaac may have been there two hours at the most. They never finished my cabinets. In fact, Esteban was working on the crown molding. He left a big seam right in view, smack in the middle of the cabinets. There is no quality control. Every time I wanted to buy something for my remodel Sam would offer me a lower price.. It never compared to the job as the professional would have done. I would have had two new doors, a kitchen cabinet installed and my linen hall closet would have been left alone. My TV was graciously hung by my friends when I moved in 3 years ago. Obviously... our group effort worked but was not visually appealing at all. The mess of cords and off centered sound bar has been driving me nuts. Same Day Builders did such a fabulous and professional job fixing the hot mess my friends and I created. They took great care of my TV (which is heavy), cleaned up all the dust from hanging the TV, and created a much more relaxing place for me to decompress with my doggies. Sam and team really pulled through for us! We were looking for a contractor to build a custom covering and gutter system over a 3rd story townhome balcony. The purpose of this cover was to keep water off the deck and door of the balcony since we had an extensive history of water leaks in this area. Sam was very responsive in his communications and got us scheduled immediately. It just happened that the day of the appointment was right before the weekend of the tropical storm that hit Socal. The appointment was originally just to get a quote but given the weather forecast, I made an urgent request to complete the cover that same day. Sam discussed options with his team and ultimately offered to postpone work on another job (after getting approval from the other customer) to be able to accommodate us! Sam began work that same day, staying until late in the evening, and then finishing up the job first thing the following morning. Even with the very short timeline, Sam and his team didn't cut any corners in their design or workmanship. The final cover and gutter system turned out excellent and did exactly as we had hoped for. The quoted price was also reasonable given the situation we were in. I have 4 swinging closet doors that have been broke for 5 years ... Bolts gone , all of them are stuck in place and sideways .I didn't know where to start. I am not that handy when it comes to stuff like this. Even though SD builders does bigger jobs than a measly closet , he still came over from when I called , he was there the same day like pretty much not even an hour later . Very disappointed. After contacting this company, Sam enthusiastically called me several times to discuss my project. He requested pictures of the project then offered a same day visit. He communicated several times throughout the day before setting a time to visit that day. He said 4pm but ran late which was probably the first red flag. He and Isaac showed up, reviewed the project, took measurements. They were friendly and enthusiastic expressing they can do the project. Looked around my property and made sure to tell me they do all types of projects. Sam asked me to text my email address so that he can email a quote. Can't emphasize enough how enthusiastic they were. When they left I immediately text my email and waited for a quote. Crickets. The next day I sent another text asking if he would be sending the quote that day, crickets. 4 days later. Still have not heard back from Sam and co. Wasted so much time communicating, waiting for their visit and never received communication back. Save yourself time and don't bother contacting. If I could leave 0 stars, I would do so, though I would give Sam's assistant, Isaac, 3 or 4 stars. Beware of this guy Sam, as he comes off as being personable and caring for his customers, but the latter is a frkn joke! The day before he came over to do the job,which was to remove a couple of straps of drywall from a ceiling in my guest house, I explained to Sam that we had something that died up there and it was likely a possum. He no issues, so it seemed, until he got there with Isaac, then he tells me the price he quoted me the day before will need to be increased $200 for the PPE they would need to purchase at Home Depot due to possible disease from the possum and any urine or poop that might fall on them. Keep in mind that there is insulation on top of the drywall, thus making it unlikely that would happen. Anyways, because I was in a jam and the pest control company was scheduled to come over shortly after these guys finished the job, I reluctantly agreed to the purchase (more to come on this). To make matters worse, Sam now tells me he is increasing the hourly fee from $160 per hour to $ 220 per hour (2 hour minimum) because it's a "dangerous" job...wow!! Again, I reluctantly agreed because I had the subsequent pest control appointment following this one to remove the dead possum or rat. The job took about 1 1/2 hours at most. Now comes the invoice/bill. So Sam tells me he will have his assistant at the office send me an invoice to my email. I receive the invoice, and it's for $860!! Huh? Yes, $860 for removing a couple of strips of drywall (one 3' × 13" and the other 2' x 2'). Furthermore, it's for 3 hours of work, as opposed to agreed upon 2 hours, + $200 for PPE. I was shocked! So after complaining, Sam agreed to change the hours from 3 to 2 hours. I also asked for an updated invoice, and a copy of the receipt from Home Depot. I never got either one, though an email for the updated invoice was sent to me, but mysteriously the attachment wouldn't open...hmm. So I had to eventually take a picture of the Home Depot receipt, and whatta you know...the cost of the PPE showed $171...not $200. And it took me 4 times to ask for a screen print eventhough Sam said he sent it several times...another lie!!! And I never received the updated invoice Sam promised I would get. This guy is a bullshitter...and will say whatever he can to get your business! I've seldom encountered such an unethical person in my lifetime! What a nightmare! read more
