I specially looked for door repair as I wanted to have 3 doors close shut. The doors were rubbing and two could not be closed. Bui was the one I had in mind but he replied he was booked up til August so he referred me to his trainee Alex. Alex communicated well to set up a schedule to come over after I purchased the products from Amazon: solar lights, video doorbell and bird spikes. He came promptly , reviewed the tasks and entered the information on his tablet. He first task was a bit of a challenge as I did not get the right parts for the old closet door. But he made the adjustments to stop it from brushing against the floor. Afterwards he moved on to replace the other closet door. Addressing the door closure issue, he adjusted a hinge and did filing of the doors until they were able to close. I have yet to get accustomed to them closing as I was not able to do that for so long. The two solar lights he put up on my roof are now keeping my yard light up at night. On the video doorbell he was able to connect it to my door chime but he would need to have it wedge mounted for a better view. The Chamberlain doorbell is a new model so there are no wedge mounts for it right now. We discussed how to tackle putting a metal mesh cover over the security camera to stop the birds from nesting over it. But this task has not been started yet. I think Alex is very proficient in his handyman tasks; he is patient and task oriented, he wants to do a good job in each task. Had waited for this one highly rated handyman to finish work with one client before starting on my projects, then was told he underestimated and would raised his quotes 20% higher because would be sending his crew instead of himself. I called Will, who was actually my first choice but scheduling at that time was a couple weeks later. His quote came very close to the other handyman without his 20% increase. Will was TERRIFIC! He solved a potential "big headache" project getting my bi-fold door to close in front of our new stacked washer/dryer without building out the doorframe by relocating protruding plugs further up on the rear wall and opening up the rear wall to allow the ducts fitting inside allowing the bi-fold door be placed back on its track. Singly moving and repositioning the heavy stacked washer/dryer was not an easy feat. Will was kind, courteous and took on several of our small projects with a great attitude and was accepting of a couple more added small tasks. He works very neatly and cleans up. We ended up voluntarily paying Will a bit more. Will DEFINITELY be calling on Will again for help around the house. It must have been karma for us using Will instead of the other handyman. Will did an excellent job installing the ducting for my range hood to vent the exhaust outside instead of having it recirculate inside. He was responsive, prepared, thorough, and clean - everything you expect from a professional. Like many handymen, sourcing, vetting, and selecting one all occurs online via platforms like Yelp and Will is organized and responsive. After sending pictures and details like my range hood's model number, Will collated the information for an estimate and he prepared his work plan. He asked thoughtful follow-up questions (over text) and shared his plan with me the day before to confirm his approach. I greatly appreciated this level of communication and gave me a high level of confidence going into the project. Will showed up on-time and prepared with the required materials and then some. Several extra feet of 6" solid pipe, an extra roof vent, and most importantly, no duct tape for the ducting (ha), but foil tape. He laid out a tarp to collect the debris and was careful around appliances and cabinetry. Rarely do jobs end up being as straight forward in an older home than in a newer home and mine was no exception. Existing ducting in the way, a stud, several layers of cabinetry, etc. all added challenges to the prepared plan and extra work. Will worked through it all and the result was a perfectly function range hood blowing outside. At the end, Will thoroughly cleaned the workspace including the floors and tested the setup.
