Got an estimate of $75 for some spare keys I needed for a classic car of mine. No FOB, just keys…read more Since it's an older car I figured maybe it's due to scarcity so I went ahead and bought some compatible key blanks. I let OMG know and asked whether that would drop the price. Nope, same price. Next day I went to another place that cut me three sets of spares--6 keys--for 1/3 the total cost of cutting two. And in 20 minutes, no less. The estimate I was given is likely par-for-the-course in this area, and depending on the amount of business one gets that is fine. But as with everything, shop around first. In my case, I just needed keys cut. No FOB, no programming, nothing fancy. Just use the key-cutting machine to scan the original and...make...a...duplicate. And I would've been fine driving over to have them done. Not saying anything particularly negative. If you need a FOB for your BMW or Mercedes then $75 a key is nothing--it's probably lunch for you. It just didn't fit my situation, and I found better value elsewhere.

Udi was able to give me a rough quote over the phone and was able to come out the very next day to do the work. However, due to the complexity of the job and the materials needed, the price ended up being MUCH higher than the original rough estimate. Still, I was very pleased with the work. Udi kept in touch about his arrival time which was only slightly outside of the time window I had been given. He stayed until the job was complete - almost to 9pm. He counseled me against replacing the double-cylinder deadbolts (providing for safe egress during a fire or other emergency). He provided 6 duplicate keys even without me asking. This was a good contractor experience because of the ease and speed of scheduling and the diligence with which Udi approached the job. The price was breath-taking, but I can't complain about the work.

The locksmith attempted to program the key twice before informing me that it is not compatible. Luckily, he had a key made for my car with him. However, the price was similar to car dealerships. I would still choose this locksmith because of convenience and pricing (much cheaper if I had the right key bought on my own).
