About 8 weeks before I visit Dr. Bob Samimi office I Crashed my Mountain Bike and flipped over my Helmet while giving ride to the bike...There was a big bump on my clavicle near middle of chest, I could not move arm and neck. At Urgent Care, X-rays showed no fractures and after bandage I was sent home to rest. After 4-5 weeks even I got mobility the big bump in my middle of chest still did not subside. The same doctor at urgent care suggested I visit a Orthopedic Surgeon, and suspected anterior SC (Sternoclavicular) dislocation, which means tear and damages to ligaments and joint on that area. I also took an MRI to evaluate the soft tissue and ligaments health afterwards. There are 3 criteria of services I expect receiving from the professional providers like Doctors, Lawyers, and Accountants when I visit them: 1. Accurate Diagnosis (Detection of problem) 2. Precise, yet simple Explanation 3. Offer solutions fitting best my situation upon my visit to Dr. Bob Samimi they also took few x-rays. however these were done in very unique viewpoint. Their X-rays were very clear, much less shadows and bones overlapping, and had a proper contrast. It showed tip of my clavicle where it was broken into few pieces near the joint. That was totally missed from urgent care x-ray. Dr. explained to me both from x-ray and few hand diagrams to understand the extend of damages and reason for the bumps. The pieces of bones were coming together and remolding and creating larger size than original shape of bone, both in height and depth. The style of injuries is almost identical to SC dislocation, however surgery was not recommend, because pieces were too small and were healing gradually, additionally trauma is at the location near lots of nerves and sensitive arteries that makes the operation dangerous, unless really necessary. I most likely gain full mobility, however original symmetrical bone structure on shoulder and clavicle will not be totally restored. Location and type of my injuries are so uncommon, and hard to see or diagnose. I read reviews for so many Orthopedic surgeons in 50 miles radius, and after careful consideration I am glad that I end up visiting Dr. Samimi at the right time. Please note that online appointment schedule is not real time, better to call. Upon my visit to this office I noticed many patients, some new and some for follow ups, which made the visit time longer, but I must say, I prefer the wait for a good result. I went to this Doctor because I had pain and loss of flexibility in my knee. A friend referred me to this office and when I called they were able to schedule me in for the next day. The office is right off the freeway located on the second floor at the Doctors Hospital in West Covina and you have to take the elevator to get there. The elevator is very slow!!! So if you stand inside the elevators and think it's broken because the doors doesn't close, just wait a little longer before you call the maintenance guy or press the emergency button... LOL When I got there I had to fill out my paperwork, which is never fun, but I learned that all the documents are online, so you can print them out at home and fill them in before you get there. I waited about 20 minutes before I saw Doctor Babak Samimi and the first thing he did was take x-rays of my knees. I was happy to hear that there were no signs of damage on the x-rays just swelling. Next the Doctor checked my knee to find out where the pain was located. This hurt a little bit, but he was very nice and friendly and explained everything to me. Turns out I had inflammation of the patella tendon, which probably was caused by my workout routine (I go running every morning with my husband). I was so happy to hear that I didn't need surgery! The Doctor showed me some exercises I could to do strengthen my knee to build my inner thigh muscle (guess it's time to pull out the thigh master). I mentioned that I don't like to take medication if I don't have to and he was very understanding and assured me that this could be fixed with the right leg exercises and ice packs against the pain. He also wrote me a prescription for physical therapy just in case, but I'll try to start with the exercises he showed me first. All in all this Doctor's visit was a very pleasant experience and I actually felt like this Doctor really cared about me and my concerns and took the time to talk to me and explain everything . If I have any other orthopedic issues in the future I will definitely come back to this Doctor. read more

After reading some of these reviews I decided to tell my story so people can judge. A couple of years ago my mother fell and broke her ankle. We were uninsured and were afraid of not being able to pay huge amounts of money because we were having a hardship, the loss of our house etc., so we took her to this free clinic all the way in Los Angeles (while living in Ontario) and they charged us $600.00 for a crappy and I mean crappy done by a kid using play-duh like cast. Horribly 6 weeks afterwards my mom's broken bone was still broken and already had pus in the inside. My aunt recommended Dr. Samimi the father and we were lucky to find him the day we went, we didn't need an appointment or anything. Turns out my mom needed reconstructive surgery in her ankle and needed steel plates and screws and a whole lot of work done. When he told her she started crying like it broke my heart so bad because she at 52 years old looked like a sad little four year old just crying because her puppy just died. I kid you not. So Dr. Samimi comforted her, told her he was going to help her. He performed the surgery for less than the damn play-duh like cast. People are saying here they are bad people because of their insurance, maybe your insurance is not that good, perhaps I do not know, but I can say that we only paid whatever the hospital charged for having someone get surgery in cash. To us Dr. Samimi was a savior and did a flawless, that is right FLAWLESS job in her ankle. Yes there is a scar but if she was to get a small tattoo that small almost nothing little scar would be covered. Personally I would like to thank Dr. Samimi and his wonderful staff for his help, I am sure he does not remember us by now by I will always remember him. Oh and another thing, we are latinos and Dr. Samimi was wonderful to us no racism from him or any other people of the staff. The installation? Yes it's like a trip back to the 70's but guess what? I did research on Orthopedic specialists before choosing Dr. Babak Samimi. I found his credentials not only impeccable (honors graduate from UCLA in surgery, instructor at USC), but the fact that he really cares about people as demonstrated through his volunteer services to the people of Haiti during their earthquake crisis. I came to Samimi Orthopedic literally disabled, unable to raise my left arm because of an accident that had torn shoulder tendons. Dr. Babak Samimi repaired my shoulder and I recovered my range of motion and strength. 1 year later, I had similar, but not as severe, issues with my right shoulder and once again Dr. Samimi repaired the damage and I am healing even faster than I did from the first surgery. I couldn't be happier and have complete faith in Dr. Samimi and his judgement and skills as a surgeon. The other doctors, assistants, nurses, physical therapists were helpful as well. My shoulder surgery was the first surgery I've had in my life and I am glad there are professionals like Dr. Samimi that one can trust and rely upon when they are needed. The services and appointments I've had with shamini orthopedic have been excellent, very nice and attendend and extremely knowledgeable nurse's and doctors But the maintenance guy that works at the same office complex that shamini's office is located at is a complete idiot, I was done with my appointment and was drinking a can of 7up there was a little over half of my drink left and I set it down on the wall just outside in the front doorway for a second to ch my Phone and I looked back to pick it up and that idiot was tying up a trash can from the trash resectable Trash can and my can of 7-up wasn't where I just set it down at, So I asked him if he knew what happened to the can of soda disappeared to And he suddenly acted deaf and/or ignorant to My inquiry and walks away and inside the office complex, I apologize for that rant but it really irks me when someone up and has no decent curtsy to simply check with anyone around a said location of a cold and nearly full can of soda and just throws that said item in the trash with 0 regard to the person that said item belongs to read more

From the time of my injury to my finally being referred to a specialist was over 6 months. My PCP had to refer me and although she was not a specialist, the one thing I appreciate her doing for me was referring me to Dr. Babak Samimi at Samimi Orthopedic Group. He is the greatest and I told him so...I said I'd refer people to him and I'm going to run again. He could tell from the X-Ray that I had a hairline fracture and ordered an MRI for a better look at what was going on. Turned out I had torn cartilage...after surgery....it's been a great process. Worst Dining Experience Ever! Woah such bad service! The food was horrible and I think they had roaches! Will never go there again! The host sat us at a table with an elderly man that reeked of sulfur who kept poking us with a cane while saying "Can you feeling it now Mr.Krabs? There was even a rabid dog in the waiting area. I think I saw the the ghost of Patrick Swayze in the ladies room (which I don't mind) but overall it was a terrible dining experience and I will never be eating there again. read more
