Super bummed out that I chose to make an appointment with Samin. I believe his practice is extremely unethical and I'm very surprised at the number of good reviews. He asked me to schedule a second appt with him for one week out and so I did. I got pneumonia and let him know more than 24 hour in advance that we may need to reschedule. He called me at 9:30 at night, which I didn't answer, as I was in bed with pneumonia. When I called him back he explained that he takes the full amount of $225 when someone cancels or reschedules no matter the reason. It is common business practice to take a percentage or a "late cancellation fee", and that is completely understandable. to me. But to take the entire amount no matter what just seems incredibly slimy. I could never do that to another person. Very unfortunate, huge waste of money. While he has a policy that he keeps your full lesson cost of $115 and refuses to reschedule if you need to change plans anything less than a full 7-day week in advance (regardless of reason--I'd been in an accident and broke a rib and tailbone), he is unreliable and forgets appointments he's confirmed and cancels last minute on you without hesitation. (Said he forgot and decided to go out of town.) His "courtesy" was to charge me to reschedule and then flake on our next appointment (but reschedule fee still applied even though he flaked on me). His explanation was it was a courtesy to let me reschedule at all because of his 7-day rule. I find it egregious to keep full payment without rescheduling for any change inside of a full week. Be warned. Once you pay him anything, you're already screwed because of inflexibility and ridiculously stringent policies. I'll find someone else who is reliable and keeps their commitments at least as well as they demand their customers do. read more

First off, Samin is an excellent instructor and was able to get me on the bike in a matter of a few minutes of instruction. I've had my license for a few years, but it's been way too long since I've ridden. After the first 20 minutes of clutching the front brake with a death grip (due to fear), Samin had me comfortably ride around without a hitch. I highly suggest in purchasing 2 lessons at once (90mins of riding instruction), as it pays off to put more time behind the bike with his supervision. He also goes more in depth with shifting gears, slow turns, head placement, and all the other works (YMMV as I've already ridden before). I had already passed the MSF, got my license, and bought my bike when I came in for lessons. I knew the bare basics and wanted to ride but needless to say I was nowhere near ready to handle my bike on the streets. Two lessons in, including one riding around SD, and thanks to Samin's focused and patient teaching I'm already doing much better, enough to commute and ride solo. Well.... I'm always a bit leery when you have a service type business (such as lessons) that has all 5star reviews in a relatively short time frame. In this case, Samin has earned em for sure. I am 100% new to motorcycles in general and I received a 90min lesson as an amazing gift this year. My intention was to get a feel for motorcycles and see if this is something I want to pursue. And I was able to do just that. Samin was able to take a total newby like me and in one 90min session get me doing circles in the parking lot even shifting gears. Kind of :). As a first-ride motorcycle rider I did my homework to find a more thorough and guided experience than a motorcycle-license school so I could learn at my own pace; I found Samin and saw the reviewspositive, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I showed up as scheduled on my first 90 minute session and Samin proceeded to give a a detailed orientation and guide me with some basic, common-sense hands-on training as he instructed incrementally on each exercise we did. The training was very logical, built upon itself, and he would conclude each exercise with a review of things he noted that were positive and things to guide improvement that he noticed. In particular, Samin does a great job breaking down complexities into very simple steps that any novice such as myself can follow. After one 90 minute session I was shifting gears, braking ahead and accelerating into turns, and doing left and right turns and practicing good turning habits. After a second 90 minute session I was practicing emergency stopping with rear-wheel braking, fast starts (i.e. throttling from a stop quickly), downshifting, and doing tight circles on the bike. His teaching style is adept for beginners and he knows how to give you the right amount of information broken into digestible chunks so you don't overthink it, but are well prepared for each exercise you take on. If you're looking to get started on motorcycles with personalized, comprehensible, and thoughtful instruction, I recommend Samin 100%. read more

Had my first lesson today. The instructor was extremely knowledgeable and easy to understand. He explained each step thoroughly followed by a demonstration. He made me feel very relaxed and personalized his riding experiences making it comfortable to ask questions. As a beginner I took the two season option which I highly recommend. The additional session helped me build on my confidence riding the bike. I really appreciated the one on one instruction. Rather than traditional group setting. Fits the lesson to the individual, since already have a license and did the group training. Wanted shifting practice and advanced techniques, since I have been a Vespa 250 and ZNEN 150 scooter rider for 2 years. Taught me the shifting, was confident quickly. Money well spent! As expected based on the other reviews, Samin is super chill and subscribes to a take-it-slow approach. I've had my license for a while but haven't done much riding so my confidence was low and my experience limited. He brought headsets too, which was a wonderful surprise. We could talk about everything in real time without having to pull over. He also let me determine the focus of my training. There were skills I needed to work on to better navigate my neighborhood like hills, curvy roads and even my tricky driveway. He was sensible and encouraging which gave me confidence in him as well as myself. He knew what I was capable of even if I had momentary doubts and it was a fantastic experience.
