A family owned business with delicious food and friendly staff. Their house hot sauce was so good we had to buy some to go. I highly recommend this business for a casual weekend family breakfast.

Big portions, great service, delicious food, and some delicious pancakes. Came here with a larger group on a weekend but still were served and serviced quickly. Very breakfast focused diner vibe with lots of coffee and lots of menu options. I went with the omelette that had ground beef, onions, peppers, olives and feta - SO good and the right about of salt and flavor. The fact I could get a short stack with raspberry compote was just the ticket for me! With the syrup and whipped cream to boot, it was very dedicant. Some folks in my group got the sausage gravy and highly recommend. Reasonably priced with a relaxed vibe, this was a great find on the road for a large group of people.

A lovely breakfast stop, the buttermilk pancakes were great and served with warm syrup. My coffee cup was never empty and they had a large amount of creamers at the table, it was a delightful breakfast. If I'm ever in town again I WILL be stopping here. At 9am on a Tuesday morning this place was busy but I never felt rushed and our food came quickly. The server was nice and the owner said hello to us as soon as we walked in. Everyone was in a good mood and the diner is overall a must see if you're in town.

Food - In short, there's a lot on the menu, and every time I've ordered, I have enjoyed it. Service - Very nice. Haven't gotten an order wrong yet. They are also attentive at perfect intervals for when I finish a cup of coffee. Ambiance - The place feels larger on the inside but is set up in a comfortable manner. I haven't been when they're super busy, so I'm unfamiliar with how the noise is.

Pretty classic breakfast place that's quite busy Sunday after church but one of the shorter wait times! I got a Philly steak skillet that was filling and good portions! Would definitely want to come back and try the other skillets!

Ate here with my cousin when I visited him in Champaign. Tables are never vacant when we were there. The food is really good. The gravy on my omelet is yummy. The place is cozy. The service is awesome especially Olga who is so nice and provides good service. The manager should talk nicer though, he is on a restaurant business and should smile more :-).

Excellent food and service at Sammy's! This particular day we came for lunch. Delicious soup before the meal, I got the ace of clubs sandwich, delicious! Probably the biggest club sandwich I've ever had. Wife had the Ruben and also loved it.

Great breakfast and waitress! Lots of options on the menu - ranging from healthy to 'treat yo self.' Orange juice is tasty and the syrup is warm. Really enjoyed our breakfast - it was a good change from the usual breakfast chains we pick. Bananas were fresh.

Screwed up everything. Unapologetic. Refused to charge us for what we received vs ordered. Greasy spoon that wasn't worth the headache.

Everything is expensive these days. Sammys is a little pricey, but the food is very good. Prompt good service too.

If the hostess or owner don't know you expect to wait a long time. People that arrived later got seated before us.

There were so many choices for breakfast it was hard to choose. My girlfriend and I chose the cinnamon french toast. It was amazing!

Would highly recommend the skillets! Plenty of food for the price. The pancakes are very well done.

This was a top notch place back in the day! But past owner from the 1980's, Allen Strong, has…read moreretired and the new owners don't seem to add much. A glass display case sits empty at the hostess station displaying nothing but lots of smudgy fingerprints. A fitting analogy to the current Courier unfortunately. Patrons come in for lunch and wait several minutes for somebody to seat them. The service suffers from understaffing. I ordered a Veggie Dagwood sandwich. Remember Dagwood Bumstead and his multi layer skyscraper sandwiches?? Not here! This was more of a very dry bread sandwich. Where are the layers of veggies? The layers of cheese? The alfalfa sprouts? The sauce? My sandwich was served with a stale pickle. I asked if I could order a side like potato salad. They had coleslaw - $4 up charge. The place needs to be cleaned up! Put a little pride into the menu.

Revisited the Courier Cafe today and I need to drop it a star. After trying a few items across the…read moremenu, I now believe the food warrants two stars although the ambience and service remain very good. I won't belabor the point but the items we ordered lacked thoughtful preparation. The scrambled tofu was just tofu with curry powder. The veggie Dagwood consisted primarily of plain toast with little in the way of "veggie." An extra tomato and another dollop of special sauce (sweet mayo) would go a long way here.
