1/2 Hot Sandwich (cheesesteak) with 1/2 Soup Combo, with House Salad
    Leyang Z.

Up to now only bought bread and had lunch there. It is a great place to dine in. The staff are very nice and patient. They would greet you warmly and help you decide what to order. Moreover, if you come to this restaurant several times like me, chances are that one of the staff will recognize you. For the lunch, I often order the half sandwich and half salad/soup. The portion size is just enough for me, and their soup is of great quality! For bread, I usually buy whole wheat, or rye, or sourdough. Contrary to the one sold in supermarket, their bread is dense, with a strong, natural flavor of wheat/rye. Plus, if you like stone-hard bread, you should definitely try their rye! Besides good service, I also like the decorations in the restaurant. The create a cozy atmosphere with dim light and nostalgic furniture (table, stairs, etc.) ; and the fireplace makes it warm when dining in a freezing weather. Haven't had dinner in this restaurant yet. I will post another review about it after trying it:)

Hummus and pear salad. Cheese sandwich in background

Loved this little gem of a spot right on campus. Came for lunch and had a half salad and sandwich and couldn't stop thinking about the chewy delicious sandwich bread that they bake in house. Highly recommend the combo. We had the hummus sandwich and the cheese sandwich. Came back today to try a hot sandwich. The Turkey was perfection. We ventured to try a different cold sandwich as well but unfortunately the egg salad was a mayonnaise goop. There was hardly any egg and the sandwich was dripping wet (literally watery egg Mayo juice). We salvaged the bread because it was so chewy to give up on. Sadly, can't recommend this item and wanted to love it, but there are so many other options to choose from that we can just move on. The ordering is outside and the line looks long but it moves pretty quickly. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Lunch is Monday - Friday. They also serve dinner and have booze! You can easily walk here from the quad or you can drive and park at the meter.

$15 for not even 2 full slices of Turkey. They should have asked me if I wanted meat with my sandwich.

I don't like onions and they can't leave them out, so that eliminates almost all the hot sandwiches. So maybe you should call it the onion and bread company. I had to settle with a Turkey sandwich. Had to pay extra to add cheese. There is barely Turkey on this sandwich. This places is so over priced go to jimmy johns for a cold sandwich.

I stopped by the Bread Company before my morning work shift for a delicious breakfast sandwich! My friends have talked about their breakfast menu and praise to them for being very cost efficient and delicious. I picked from the veggie menu and ordered the tomato egg and cheese sandwich wrapped in foil to go!! Overall, I am very impressed with the quality of the sandwich though I am positive that it would've tasted better if I dined in

A good brunch place on campus! I had a full size breakfast sandwich with sausage as the topping and the house made coffee. The total cost was lower than 15 dollars, which was very reasonable. The sandwich was big enough for a starving girl in the late morning. I really like the balanced sauce and the cheese combinations at the middle of sandwich, but the taste was expected to be more profound if possible. The bread was a little crispy with a satisfactory texture as well as the extent of dryness, which I appreciated a lot. I studied for a while inside, and it also showed as a great working space. The environment was clean, the space was wide and big enough, it was a little dark inside, and there was not so much noise at that time. The wifi was sufficiently fast and stable, which I always attached great importance to when considering about the experience of a study spot. I might go there another day for a lunch or dinner to further explore the menu. :)

    12. Gruyere Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Amazingggg sandwiches. The grilled gruyere cheese with garlic aioli and the portobello mushroom with the raspberry jam. Cant say enough good things about how hearty and fulfilling their sandwiches are. Special mention for the amazing bread. The ambiance is also wonderful, they have a small cozy European style veranda on the inside with a skylight. One of the top places in Chambana Food Scene

Look at the size of those loaves! These will be cut into sandwiches.

You're going to enjoy The Bread Company. Whether you try their coffee or tea, breakfast or lunch sandwiches, brunch omelettes or crepes, salads or soups, or crafted loaves you're in for something special. Inside, the bakery looks like what you imagine a family owned, neighborhood bakery should look like. If the neighborhood were in Old World Europe. Finding street parking in this spot across from UI can be challenging. Accept the challenge. You're going to enjoy this place.

I don't know why this place has such high ratings. Both my boyfriend and I thought that this place was absolutely a sodium overdose. The bread itself I agree was really good and the ambiance was definitely good, but the food did not meet expectations and was so salty we couldn't finish anything. Maybe we ordered the wrong items and I would love to give this a second chance when I'm in the area again.

I've made stuff with okara before and like the particular flavor and texture-- it feels drier and denser because of the soy pulp, but it's something I like. However, a few weeks ago, (6/6/26) I had a disappointing experience with a staff member there while picking up an online cake order. On the day of cake pick up, I was done with errands at around 10am, I called the bakery to ask if it was possible to pickup the cake early. The girl on the phone sounded very annoyed with my request (I was just asking, they could have said no) and told me they don't do pickups until noon but I can still come in. So I get there and she immediately starts treating me like I was a huge inconvenience. As she's handing me the cake, she pulls out a receipt and started scolding me that pickups don't start until noon and it's right there on the website. I showed her my email receipt confirming 10:30am pickup and how there's literally two different sections with different times on their website so i was obviously confused. but she ignored my explanation and continued chastising me for the misunderstanding of the pickup times. I just let it go as I didn't want to argue but I left feeling very upset. I think management/owners dropped the ball on training staff on how handle these types of situations with professionalism and not immediately placing blame on the customer. I tried my best to smile and be friendly to her but she was starting to become defensive. There was no accountability for the user interface of their website. She made sure to make it known that it was my mistake alone. I have not decided whether I will continue to support this establishment but I won't be back for awhile.

Everything is made in house and not overly sweet. I especially love their whole cakes or cake slices since they are made with whipped cream which is very airy and light. Owner change their offering everyday, so it's always a surprise on what I can find when I visit. They're my favorite bakery in the area: I'm a really big fan and have tried many of their items (as you can see from my many photos...). My favorite items here are their cream cakes, milk bread (which they call toast), and the cakes with taro and/or mochi. I also highly recommend ordering custom cakes from them: I've ordered three custom cakes (including my wedding cake) and they were all delicious, beautifully decorated, and reasonably priced, especially for the quality. The character designs they do on cakes are super cute. Their menu changes every day, and the milk bread usually comes out later in the afternoon, around 3:30. If you can read Chinese, they have a WeChat group where they post their daily menu. They also sometimes have specials for holidays, e.g., mooncakes for Mid Autumn Festival. I've tried too many of their products to list here, but here are a just few of my favorites (you can check my photos for more details): -Cream Cakes (about $8-9 per slice, depending on the flavor) - these are light and not too sweet, and I really like the whipped cream. My favorites have been the black sesame cream cake, durian cream cake, taro cake, and jasmine milk tea cream cake; the fruit cream is also a classic and is delicious as well. I loved the black sesame cream cake so much that I got it for my wedding. -Toast (Milk Bread) - this comes in two sizes and several flavors; a small is around $5 and a large is around $9. My favorites are the taro and the pork floss flavors, but all the ones I tried have been great. It's very fluffy, soft, stretchy, and slightly sweet, and it's especially great when it's still warm. It's by far the best option for milk bread in town (it's much better than the version at Suzu's Bakery, for instance). -Purple Rice Cream Cheese Bun ($6) - bread with cream cheese, mochi, and purple rice filling. The mochi and purple rice combo is delicious, especially when the bun is still warm. -Taro Mochi Cake ($9) - layers of sponge cake, mochi, pork floss, and taro. The perfect combo in my opinion. I also like their Taro Roll and Mochi Roll, which are smaller versions with sponge cake, pork floss, and one of taro or mochi in the filling. -Mille Crepe Cakes (around $10 per slice, depending on the flavor) - these have relatively more cream compared to crepe. My personal preference would be for more crepe, but I really liked the durian mille crepe and the sakura matcha mille crepe that I tried here. In addition to cream cakes, they also make a variety of other styles of cakes, including mousse cakes, cheesecakes, Basque style cheesecakes, and tiramisu. The cream cakes are my favorite, but the mousse cakes and cheesecakes are great too and are not too sweet. The tiramisu is one of the sweetest cakes I've tried here, but I really liked it as well. The service is really kind and sweet. For custom cake orders, they're very friendly, kind, and thorough. I definitely recommend giving them a visit!
