Without a question this is the best barbershop in Syracuse. The owners are great entrepreneurs, friendly and give beyond excellent haircuts. This place is cash only. Three barbers on staff. . Seating is adequate. There is also a kids waiting room, I didn't investigate too close but the little ones have their own area somewhat isolated from the shop with games and activities. I got a great cut for $16. $16 because I guess it fell in the realm of a shave on my head. They do have straight edge razors to get your sideburns and neck. My pet peeve in barber shops is TV. It seems this is a trend all over, I'm not into this and these guys had two TVs, one playing golf and one playing soccer. I would like to see the tv off and music on so everyone can concentrate on getting haircuts done I'm picky about my barber and overall these guys did a good job. For a long time I bounced from barber to barber. Not anymore. I have been going to Mike for years now and I have no complaints. I also have had Sam and Mary cut my hair and they didn't miss a beat. Sam the owner is a stand up guy. The whole staff is always friendly. I have brought my 7 year old here too and he like it as well. There is always entertaining conversations going on which I enjoy. If there's a game on, you won't miss a thing because they have a couple large TV's. This is just a top notch local business that I highly recommend. read more

Here at Sams they sure know how to turn a chair. When you are here the give you a great cut and shave and will chat but also know the quicker they can turn the chair the quicker they can make more money. It's a very friendly environment and clean. Sam and the crew are top class. read more

Great barber shop. Both Sam and his brother Mike are experts at cutting hair. They listen to what you want and the next thing you know your out there with the haircut you wanted. The staff are FANTASTIC and have personal connections with seemingly everyone--including the first-time customers! The online appointment-booking site is user-friendly, and I did overhear my barber, Mike, on the phone talking to what I'm assuming was an elderly gentleman asking if he could book over the phone---he did. Sam's is kid-friendly as evident by the willingness to turn either of their very large flat screens to cartoons while the little one is in the chair or have them occupied by a screen (along with books and toys!) in the adjacent playroom. Bonus--they get a free lollipop after each cut!!! I've only really gone on Saturdays, but for the adults there is always Dunkin' doughnuts and Keurig coffee available. Judging by the signage posted in the shop, Sam's is a hearty supporter of local businesses and I've heard they donate to many school events/boards. At Christmas I've seen 1-2 bins for, 'Toys For Tots' donations (they were full!). The only downside to my experience(s) with Sam's is that I can only get my haircut once every 2-3 weeks or I'd be in there every week. This is hands down the best barber shop in all of Syracuse. As an active duty Marine getting a hair cut is a weekly occurrence. I tried out a bunch of different barbers when I first got there and none of them cut my hair well or had the right feel. Finally I found Sam's at their old location and Mike cut my hair. I never stoped going to get my hair cut from Mike after that. Every time I sat in the chair Mike knew just what I wanted and our conversation picked up right where it left off the week prior. I have had my hair cut from Sam as well and he is also great. The customer service at the shop is above top notch. If you are in the Syracuse are and need a hair cut this is the only place you need to go. Best barber in Syracuse and one of the best barbers I have been to in the US. read more

Visiting from out of town for a softball tournament, needed a cut, and chose Sam's from Yelp. Glad I did. These guys were great. Skilled, thorough, friendly, clean, reasonable; exactly what a barbershop should be. They did what I needed: a quick, smart, traditional buzz-cut, and yet while I was waiting, treated an elderly gent to exactly what he wanted: a calm, unhurried, pampered shave... each customer read perfectly.
