While we could have just eaten the many grocery store options my sister had in her home, those just don't compare. So, we went in search of a cheese shop and found Mickey McGuire's. Our cheese order started with Comte, which I was surprised but delighted to find in a small town cheese shop. Next, my Dad asked for their best blue cheese and we were given a sample of a very creamy but very strong/pungent blue cheese...not for the faint of heart. Next we asked for a Beemster cheese they recommended. Finally, my Dad asked for a sample of a cheese they felt we HAD to taste. While this is a pretty difficult request since people's tastes are so diverse and it's a rather vague question, they were up to the task at Mickey McGuire's and brought out a special reserve of a local made cheese that is only available for the month of December. It was delicious and definitely something different. $82 and a whole lot of cheese later, we walked out very happy.

They offered us a sample and it tasted mild. There was a table with more reasonably priced packages of cheese, so we went with one of those for $5. Unfortunately they only accept cash, and I luckily had some spare cash on hand. What kind of place doesn't accept credit? Do they really expect people to have more than $30 in cash on hand to buy some of their bigger blocks of cheese?

No drink list nothing. We waved at a staff member and asked what kind of wine they had and what kind of beer. Being new he was not sure I'm still ok with that. He then said they had a California Cab. And mentioned a beer that was on tap. We pick what he mentioned to make his life easy. We then asked for the Charcuterie board as well. We waited and waited and finally it came. Nothing special and very slim pickings. Meat was of only one type and no bread no crackers and nothing to eat it with. No plate no small fork nothing. We got up up and went over to the bar where they were standing and ask for cutlery and some crackers or bread. They brought over some crackers and said you have to ask for them. That's NOT a Charcuterie board...so one glass of wine 2 beer on tap and a nothing Charcuterie board with arerage music in the back ground cost us $132.00 with tip. Never again for us.... I could have gone to my favourite restaurant in Burlington "DiMarios" for the same money and left happy.
