I visited the Hoover Sam's Club today (12.12.25) to get gas & return two items. There was a line for all gas pumps when I arrived but the wait time was minimal. I noticed an employee was walking around speaking to patrons. When I got to the pump, I began my transaction using the Fuel Scan & Go function in the Sam's Club app. As I waited for my tank to fill up the employee, Mr. Kenneth, came over to say hello & wish me well for the day! I appreciate how intentional he is in making customers feel seen. Upon entering the club, I was warmly greeted by a joyful customer service rep named Whitney. She was busy placing previously returned items in their places yet still took the time to immediately acknowledge my presence & let me know she would be right with me. This kind of customer service is becoming rare these days & I geniunely appreciate the effort and intention! Whitney made my return experience seamless. Thank you! I decided to browse the toy aisles and ended up finding quite a few character themed items that my children would like. I hadn't planned to but decided to purchase a play mat for my youngest son as it was the last one of it's kind available. I'm well pleased with how this trip to Sam's Club went and will continue to return to the Hoover location in the future! read more

I went to this location for supplies. The entire store was nice and clean with the exception of the trash cans in the dining area. I stopped to grab a slice of pepperoni and cheese pizza before shopping. The staff were friendly but seemed a bit overwhelmed. The pizza was okay. It was definitely not the best I've ever had at Sam's but not the worst, either. My only real complaint with the entire store was the trash there at the snack bar. Pizza is now given out in single slice shaped boxes, no matter if you are eating it there or taking it to go. The tables and drink area were clean but the trash was overflowing into the floor. The trash was pretty mostly napkins and pizza boxes. I'm NOT a huge eco warrior but I cringed at the massive absolute waste on display. I hope they are at least recycling those boxes. I ate with my group and watched as employees noticed the trash, walked behind the counter, and ignored the situation. One of my group went up to ask if we could give the trash to them because the trash was overflowing and we're told to put it on top of the lid and they would get it later. When we left over an hour and a half later our trash had been piled with more trash. As we shopped we noticed how clean and organized the store was. Employees greeted us and seemed to be in good moods. Several of the people handing out samples took time to give us some information on their products and joked around with us a while. The ladies with the grapes and coffee, and the flirty guy with the orange juice were particularly pleasant and really added to our experience. Checkout was nice and easy and the ladies at the door checking receipts were friendly and cracked me up. They are definitely where they need to be. We left the store laughing. Never venture to this Sam's Club, but was in Hoover and stopped by to filled up my car since gas seemed to be cheaper out here compared to Trussville. The 1st thing I noticed is the parking lot is way too small for the amount of traffic that comes in and out. Had to go inside because the pump that I was at didn't print out a receipt and my best friend wanted to get some food at the deli. The inside is what I would describe as cluster and not spaced out like the parking lot. If I had to come back, it would definitely be on a less busy day read more

First time at this location. I can say I had to worse experience with the merchandise shift team leader. First time at this location so I'm ringing the bell continuously because no one came to the door. Mind you the delivery times 4am-11am 3pm-10pm I arrived at 3:30. He came to the door with an attitude very rude and I just told him "look I'm just trying to delivery the load". He slammed the door in my face. Just rude in nasty. You cannot beat Sam's prices in their food court. I got a hotdog and a drink for less than 3$. The food court right in the front near the checkout lines. You can either order on the tablets or with the cashier. Food was delivered fast and you had tables to sit down and enjoy your food. The atmosphere was pleasant and not too loud when I went and I obviously got an ice cream with all the money I saved with this meal. The only con I had was the toppings. I personally like chili dogs and they used to have them here but not anymore so I think the hotdogs taste okay but for the price I will take it! read more

Sam's Club in general and the products they offer get this location the third star. The parking lot and gas station get this location a high one-star, low 2-star. Love to use scan and go especially when they're busy, and love that they've been able to integrate a way to get gas if you don't have your membership card on you. I hate, hate, hate this parking lot. Everything is crammed on that one end of the lot--the entrances and the gas pumps, so everything is pretty congested. The gas pumps are ONE WAY, but very few people pay attention, so there are always people coming in through the out side. And because the entrance to the pumps is really close to one of the two lot entrances, it's not uncommon for there to be a complete traffic jam. Parking spaces seem to be tighter and the parking aisles are narrower than many lots. I try to go to this and the other club store during the week to avoid the crowds, but the parking lot just generally frustrates me. If I'm going to be in a crowded lot, I'd rather go to the club with the more spacious parking spaces and parking aisles. read more

This review is of the gas station, and not the store, since I only stopped here for a fill up. I am not familiar with the Sams in Hoover, so it took us a hot second to find the gas station!! We came in to the parking lot on the side, and not via the main entrance... that would have solved our problems. Everything was fine for purchasing, but exiting was kind of confusing. All of the arrows pointed one direction, and we couldn't figure out where to exit! We followed another car out (the wrong way). They need more signs clearly marking the way to leave! read more

This isn't my typical Sam's, but I was in the area and needing gas, so we stopped here. This Sam's gas area, while big, can be a little cumbersome to get in and out of without hitting another car due to the way traffic flows through the area. There were several near collisions while we were here. The gas is cheap though, so people will keep coming back. The employee who is stationed in the nearby building was friendly and helpful to everyone who needed assistance. Everything was well maintained and the area was kept clean. I went to the cafe for a hot dog. Not only was the service quick and kind but the food was delicious. The hot dog was a good size for what you pay which is 2.50 for the combo with a drink and the bun was soft. I am not someone who particularly enjoys hot dogs but this one was delicious. The eating area was sanitary and clean and there was room to distance in case of a need to do so which I did appreciate. I found the packaging to be a bit wasteful and would love to see fewer uses of plastic especially in the drink containers and the cutlery. Ordered a gas grill online for pickup at this location. When I arrived my email told me to go to customer service to pick up my item. After waiting at customer service, I was told to go to checkout 1 for my item. The checkout lines were not numbered so I had to ask for assistance, once an employee directed me to the right lane I waited for someone to arrive. After several minutes the same employee who had pointed me in the right direction arrived and checked me out. She the went to retrieve my item and brought it around. It was a gas grill in the box, very oversized and heavy. No one offered to help me load or assist me. Store seemed clean but staff was not very helpful. read more

This is my after church shopping spot. I choose this location because I am familiar with it's layout and to be honest I love the lady at the exit doors (Ms. Bonnie). I've frequented this location for the last several years and I have had only one bad experience. I mentioned this to Ms. Bonnie and she immediately involved a manager. The situation was rectified very quickly. I use the scan and go app (if you don't, you should). It allows you to scan your items as you place them in your cart and then check out from your phone. That's right you skip all of the lines and head straight for the exit doors. The café offers a limited, but cheap selection for a quick lunch. My kids always enjoy pizza or a hotdog after church. I also use them for gas since it's always cheaper than any surrounding service stations. My only issue is that people drive in facing the wrong way (no fault of Sam's). Overall, it's a great location with friendly staff working to meet the needs of its shoppers. read more

If you going for toilet paper or paper towel CALL FIRST! or check online to see if it's stocked. They offer curb side pick up. They have staff everywhere in and out the store and they are pretty helpful. Recently, I went in for London broil. They didn't have it but gladly offered to cut it for me. I knew I was not well when I walked out of Sam's with only one item. They had almost everything I was looking for but just wasn't feeling like packing everything in my car and talking everything out again. The Club was clean, had vendors handing out samples, and the Standing Rib Roasts with 3 bones were about $54. I failed to see how much it wasn't a pound. But I was still comparing them so I passed. I tried out a leather sofa and if it was leather as the sign said it didn't feel good on my sign so I passed on the $700 price even though it felt fight and comfortable. They have stocked on on sparking wine for the new year celebrations and the area was busy. All the Christmas decorations were completely gone and Tac Seasons has started. Okay I'm gonna start by just saying I love Sam's. If you're not into warehouse stores that sell large quantities of stuff you won't be a fan. I'm not a member but my mom is and is so are a few friends. So I usually just piggy back off of them when needed. I come here for toilet paper, paper towels, bags of frozen seafood like their shrimp. Lunch snacks and spices. For the veggies and other stuff I find it hard to consume such large quantities before they go bad. This is the only place in the south where you can get a good quality kosher jumbo dog and 40 oz drink for $1.50!!! At this particular location you don't need a card to enter I don't think but you need one to pay. They have self check out lines & boxes in the front to store and carry your goods. They check your receipt upon leaving. Costumer service here is kinda weak. Meaning it's almost impossible to find an employee to help with anything. Plus they're not friendly at the food bar or checkout aisle. Typical of the Walmart brand. read more

Sam's is ok. I joined here with a Groupon where you got a bunch of stuff for free. But I didn't know you had to get the stuff right away so I missed out on that deal. So if you get the deal with the free stuff, get it immediately. Sam's is ok as far as wholesale clubs go. I belong to Costco as well, and frankly, I prefer Costco. I have also belonged to BJs and I like BJs better than Sam's too. This location is big and the store is well kept and has a fairly good selection of stuff. However, their drug section could be bigger. Their premade foods are ok but I think Costco premade foods are better. They have free hearing tests and an optical section so that's good but I have not tried them. My husband liked coming here because they carried Angry Orchard by the case and it was a good price but for some reason they stopped carrying it so that was a disappointment. You can also get wine and they have a fairly good selection. Gas station is good and you really can't beat the prices. read more

Saves tons of time not having to go through the line with everyone else! How about curbside pick-up? Shop on your phone and pick up outside? OMG, even better!! Never even have to step foot inside the warehouse! I will be honest that I had a bit of a mental block on this curbside pickup at first. I didn't love trusting someone else to pick out my meat and vegetables. However, I have done it three times now to save time and IT IS AMAZING! My husband got a newtous truck and it needed two new tires STAT! Well I called around and Sam's had very competitive process for what we needed so we decided to get them there. Thankfully, I thought to call and make an appointment as when I arrived to said appointment there were 5 people in line and cars in al the bays. Once I got to the front of the line and stated I had an appointment the process went very smooth. He verified my name and tire size, a technician immediately got my keys and I was informed I was next. I asked about how long it would be and was informed it would be about an hour, and indeed about an hour later I was called up, received my paperwork and keys and he asked would I like it in the back or pulled around front. I got the pizza and drink combo with a blue raspberry and cherry icee. I usually get the three meats pizza because... who wouldn't?! I've had the cheese pizza and it doesn't disappoint either. I love getting food from Sam's because of how affordable the food is-- also because the slices are HUGE! When I got my food, the line wasn't too long and I didn't have to wait long. As for sustainability, my food came on a paper plate wrapped in aluminum foil. And the drink is in a styrofoam cup. The workers wore masks and gloves. You basically scan items as you put them in your cart. When you're ready to check out, click "check out" and enter the CBC for tour card on file and head to the exit. I have only been a member for a short time, but so far have been pleased with the experience. Typical membership store (think Costco) with a huge selection of things you can get. TV's, Blu-ray players, phones, computers, household items, outdoor items, clothes, snacks, fresh meet, bakery, prepared meals, frozen foods, drinks, pet supplies, medicine, and the list really goes on and on. They do a good job laying things out in a pretty logical fashion so you don't have to go back and forth across the store. It is a bulk item store so plan on getting the extra large size or the family portion. Everyone at this location has been friendly and helpful. Check out has always been quick, which is a huge plus for me. As you are leaving you can see they have areas set up for vehicle upkeep and vacations. Lots of negative reviews based on "Service". Well that sucks! I've never had such an encounter. Interact every so often with VERY pleasant staff in the dining area (gotta get a Nathan's and that good Sam's pizza)! This location has more free sample offerings than I'm used to. Any day of the week, I'm gonna get at least 2 samples of something lol. They also have the machine that let's you scan your membership card and it provides you with a free sample of something (both times I've used, it's been some laundry-related product). Outside of that, I'm never getting 30 bulk items at once so I always hit the self check-out lines. How convenient is that for a Sam's.. right!? If you have a family of three or larger I think a membership at one of these large stores is definitely worth it. The gas prices are cheaper, they normally run sales on frequently used items such as aluminum foil, Ziplock bags, diapers, and washing detergent. Make sure you get a sales ad when you enter the store. As far as service goes, there are a few bad apples here, but the majority of them are pretty friendly. Soft drink prices are an exception. Sam's requires an annual membership fee to join. There are different levels and costs for membership. You must show your member card before entering and receipt before exiting. (you may be a shoplifter!!) Before buying a large ticket item here, you should compare prices on line. The reason for this is that service here is terrible. You will not find help on the floor. Lines are very long, and where you do encounter employees, they are not often friendly or helpful. Again, the place does have many things cheaper in bulk. If you can comfortably lug heavy items into your cart, don't mind long lines, and bad service, Sam's may be for you. read more
