I answered a call from Walgreens today and a recorded message started telling me there was a delay in my prescription.....then it would repeat that ....again....and again.....and again. I called back. I was holding on the phone.....I did this for 40+ minutes and a real live female person answered the phone and said I will be with you in just a minute...after a while....I was disconnected and transferred to no-mans land where no one would answer the phone. I called back and now10 minutes, there are once again 2 customers ahead of me. And the computer lady keeps saying she is sorry to keep me waiting! Actually, if there were a minus.....I would give a minus 100. It is sad. This used to be a vibrant store full of staff who could help you in a reasonable time. The voice mail system is terrible. The store is under staffed. You walk in there and can't find anyone except in the pharmacy. There are still 2 callers ahead of me. Actually, I have been moving my prescriptions to another pharmacy...but I missed this one. I may be holding on this phone until my next birthday ...which is in November!!! and there are still 2 callers ahead of me. It is now 26 minutes holding. And they will be with me shorly. This is not a good experience. Their staff is assisting other customers. Please pick up the phone and don't hang up on me again! There are still 2 callers ahead of me.....at 32 minutes holding. Does anybody at Walgreens care? This is so past bad customer service...I think their customer service folks all ran away. Oh yeah! One caller ahead of me. Lets see if i get disconnected again. The lady on the recorded message now has static in her voice because she has talked so much! And, my phone is running out of juice. 46 minutes on hold now. Now 51 monutes. Wonder if AI would do better? 59 minutes at 7:15 PM. Well....she, the real person, answered and once again asked me to hold on....so here we go.....didn't wait for me to say no.....didn't say please. What happened to pharmacies in Birmingham on a Saturday night? After 6 hours in ER made it to Walgreens and found out there is no pharmacy open after 8pm... Not one? The ERs apparently knew this but neglected to tell patients. When I called the ER back they told me I could come back and get a dose of my antibiotics then? But why are all pharmacies closed? The pharmacy is awful Never experienced such poor customer service. They give you a time to pick up your medication. You come back and they tell you oh we need another hour. After they already have you a two hour window to come back the first time. I don't think they should even be in the pharmacy business. Pods poor service. The pharmacy has been a consistent source of frustration. Most of the techs seem agitated and annoyed more often than not. It's hard to get someone on the phone and takes forever to get a prescription filled. When they have been out of something, my order would be canceled but I would not get a call to let me know. The best thing about this Walgreens is the convenient location and the 24-hr pharmacy. During this visit, I only went through the drive thru to get meds. To my surprise there was no line, no wait. This is my go to Walgreens since it is so close to my house. I have gotten many many prescriptions filled here. Sometimes they mess things up but overall, they have a good percentage of getting it right and doing it in a timely manner. I usually drop my prescription off and come back but hey have a decent waiting area if you are waiting for a prescription to be filled. I always shop for discounts here because things can be a real bargain when on sale. From the point of view of a person who may randomly be awake at any given time of the night, and who may be craving anything from ice cream to pancakes or who may have just run out of toothpaste, this Walgreens is amazing. They're open 24 hours. They're very clean. They stay well stocked. They've got everything you might randomly need in the middle of the night. Like I was awake at 5am not long ago and wanted to make crepes, so I just went into this Walgreens with a recipe I'd googled and got the stuff to make crepes. Love that instant gratification. There are people inside the store who will ring up your purchases. That's really all I need them to do. Who cares if they're friendly or helpful? If you can't navigate a Walgreens at 3am then that's on you. They've got shopping carts to help you move your purchases around the store. I've found that they keep gallons of milk that aren't about to expire, which is good for me because I can't drink a whole gallon of milk in just a few days and so it's nice to have some that's good for longer. There's also usually some kind of crazy deal on cereal and other grocery items if you browse around a bit. 2 bucks for captain crunch? Strike while the iron is hot. Even if you don't need cereal, that's the time to buy. The only complaint that I have doesn't really apply to just this Walgreens, but to almost all drugstores, so I won't hold it against them. That complaint? The crazy coupon people. Being in line behind these people can be a total nightmare. There should be a special line for people who aren't trying to spend all day figuring out a scheme to get free chap stick. It's insane. Why all the price obfuscation at drugstores? I want to read some scientific studies about this phenomenon so that I can understand. The crazed coupon people are a plague on normal people who just want to make crepes and buy cheap cereal at 3:30 in the morning. Anyway....this is a good Walgreens. 5 stars. read more

They're kind of rude here. But this is a very clean store that is well stocked. I tried printing some pictures and they didn't seem happy at all to help me. In fact they kept passing me down to other employees. I only had 6 prints that were 5x7s however, a few duplicates of 4x4s printed out and I was missing a few of my 5x7s. No one wanted to explain how to fix the issue so I just tried to resubmit the order on the app this time explaining to them what I was doing. They listened and watched what I was doing reluctantly. Apparently the app was glitchy. Eventually they got the problem solved and I got what I needed and wasn't charged for the duplicates but they seemed highly irritated to even be there. No thank you, have a nice day, how can I help you or welcome to Walgreen's here. However, this could be because they're a 24 hours location and the employees are probably just sick of human beings. Last night I fractured my foot. I see my ortho and head to Walgreens to pick up my meds and the drive thru is closed. So I hobble inside in pain and lean on a railing at the pharmacy line. The bolt comes out and I fall on the ground. The employees just stand there. No one asks if I'm ok. No one helps me up. No one cares. No one offered to file an incident report. I was stuck on the floor until a customer came to help me up. I am a physician. I have a duty to warn others of safety hazards. There is no way this behavior would fly in the pharmacies at my hospitals. Patient safety is absolutely key! If they can't even ask if I am ok how do I trust they are doing their job behind the counter correctly? How do I trust they are stopping and reassessing situations? I do NOT recommend Walgreens for anything. They clearly do NOT care about patient safety. How do people with disabilities get their meds that are controlled substances that can't be delivered? How does one expect elderly patients to be safe who have osteoporosis when they can't even maintain their own store? Why is it that no one even bothered to assess the scene when they heard someone yelling and shouting? What if that was a disgruntled individual with a weapon? Clearly no one cared to even inquire as to why a customer was shouting in pain. I now have bruises on my leg and my side. My arm now hurts. I am in more pain than when I arrived to receive care. This Walgreens is a DEPLORABLE excuse for a pharmacy. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. I have never in my life written a review, good or bad, but I feel compelled. I have been using Walgreen's pharmacy for many years and the one in my neighborhood has excellent customer service and the staff are friendly. My pharmacy was out of a medication I desperately needed for my child but I was told the 24 hr Walgreen's 15 mins away had the medication in stock. Maybe the long hours are creating a hostile work environment because I have never met more rude, callous Walgreen's employees than the ones working at this location. They could definitely use some sensitivity and empathy training. I would rather drive to the other side of the city than to ever come to this Walgreen's again. read more

This is mainly about the Moderna updated booster vaccine appointment. Appointment made online for 3pm. At 3:00pm I was at the pharmacy but there was a big line so 3:10pm when I showed up. They told me to fill out the vaccination questionnaire again, which I already did online. I told him that and he said he can't pull it. Weird. Then why offer it online? Anyway. He then told me my insurance doesn't work. He called my insurance and they cleared it. Then he said he needs to see my vaccine card. I told him I don't have it. It was never mentioned or written somewhere to bring it. He said I can't give me the vaccine without the card. We just drove an hour here to get the vaccine since my hometown Walgreens doesn't offer it. No empathy at all. He told me a picture works too. Glad I found one. Then they finally gave us the vaccine and we were able to leave. Worst experience with vaccination at Walgreens. I never had them before at Walgreens and I won't. I had a covid vaccine at Publix at the end of 2021 and it was all done within 5 minutes and 15 minute wait afterwards. The entire thing at Walgreens took an hour. read more

I have used this pharmacy for the past 4 years. Never once have I had someone be rude to me until today. I called last week to see if they had my medication in stock and they said they did not but would have it on Monday, or they would call my prescribing Doctor and have them send it to another store that has it in stock. I called today and the first time the man hung up on me! When I called back they didn't answer nor say anything they just put me on hold immediately then hung up. So I drove up there and had to go inside. I can understand being out of a product, but giving me the run around and continuing to hang up on me is just not acceptable. I like this store. However, there are two serious problems that have resulted in a very low rating for me. The manager, Mike, is absolutely the opposite of helpful . Walgreens card readers WILL NOT READ one of my cards- every single time just that specific card. It has adequate funds. It is not broken, I used it right before hand at Starbucks. This so called manager was just so rude and didn't give a flying snap about the situation. I inquired if he knew why the card readers didn't work. I didn't expect him to have some magic fix, I was more so looking for an acknowledgment of the fact that it was not on MY end. It's embarrassing looking like I didn't have money. It would have been night and day difference if he'd just had apologized! Apologized and said something about how it happens to other customers sometimes too. My lady that was checking my items out, she was SO sweet. She was patient with me, she made me feel better about it and told me that their card readers are bad and it happens often . I told her I felt embarrassed bc it looked like I had no money. She said not to worry at all, it's very common. She is always kind when I go there. I'm going to find out her name and provide my positive feedback for her. She deserves it. I have no idea how this mike character worked his way into the customer service industry. He needs to get some social skills or some type of training in being a manager. All he has ever said to me is "are you finding everything okay?" And he does this after I spend a while looking a the makeup section because It takes me a while to choose what I'd like to buy. It's literally feels like he's bothered by me and wants me to hurry up or maybe he thinks I'm trying "to steal" which infuriates me, as I DO NOT DO THAT! I work right across the street from this Walgreens so I will still have to ride by, but I dang sure won't be going as much. So we have the incompetent "manager" , the broken card readers that only accept SOME debit cards, the prices are steep. My last star removed is based upon the fact that all of their skincare products are facing directly in the sun set!!! All those beneficial antioxidant formulas are being oxidized every single minute that sunlight shines on the sensitive products. I would NOT buy anything skincare related if it is facing the window where the afternoon sun shines. I am actually going to contact someone else about the issue of having their incredibly expensive important skin care and hair care products being absolutely destroyed as they just sit and bake in the sun. I'll got here if I have to. Otherwise I'll save my money for places with normal prices, and where I can use my debit card with confidence. And when I need to buy skincare products - the ones at Walgreens are trash please do not buy them there. Walgreens is a great drugstore on its own but this one has a even a little more flare to it. Very conveniently located in one of THE intersections that defines Hoover (31 & 150/Lorna). Has all the same stuff you'd expect in any other Walgreens but aesthetically is much more modern. Most folks could probably care less, but it was a really nice and unexpected touch to walk in to painted concrete floors and high open/exposed ceilings. Kind of hard describe what exactly feels "new" about the interior, but just stop in and check it out for yourself! read more

This Walgreens is located right in front of Petsmart and Whole Foods (that has been under construction for like 2 years). I normally use this to grab something real quick such as drinks, snacks, face wash, etc. This is also my go-to pharmacy. First of all, the entire store is super clean. I always see them cleaning, organizing, rearranging, etc. I know some other convenient stores are unorganized and unsanitary, but this Walgreens is not like that. Secondly, the employees here (including the pharmacy staffs) are super friendly and professional. I know greeting customers is part of their jobs, but still... they are very good at welcoming customers all day long. How do I know that? Because they actually look at you and ask you 1-to-1, and they are always there when you need them. Unlike Walmart where it's impossible to find someone who works there, Walgreens has some wonderful people working there. I'd say that the prices are somewhat expensive but it takes shorter time for me to shop here than at Walmart or Target, so I usually assume I'm paying for my time. read more

Life saver. Almost all the CVS stores in town advertise themselves as a 24 hour pharmacy. They are not. The store is 24 hours the pharmacy closes at regular times. This Walgreens however says it has a 24 hour pharmacy AND IT DOES. Many urgent care facilities do not have a pharmacy attached so 9:30pm on a Sunday evening is a bad time to find out your child has Strep Throat and you have a prescription that needs filling. They had us in and out in under 15min and the pharmacist was all smiles and helpful. See no reason to go to a different place. read more

This particular pharmacy has trouble maintaining sufficient inventory. I have never had any issues until I started using this location. The past five times our pediatrician has sent basic prescriptions to this location they have had to send me somewhere else. Save yourself the time and trouble and send your Rx somewhere else. I'm consistently told the refill was not submitted through the automated system for my child's RX. I fill my own at CVS and have no issue there, so it's not like I don't know how to use an automated system. When the refills run out or there's not enough for a 90-day supply, I'm never contacted, I just find out when I show up to pick up the RX. I've verified my contact info several times to ensure I can be contacted if there's an issue. I'm always told to contact the dr myself for refills. CVS does it for me. When I contact my child's dr for a refill this time, I'll have it sent to CVS. read more
