Wow, we went to this Sam's for the first time since moving to Lubbock a few years ago. Normally shop at Costco, but we got a half price membership offer and decided to give Sam's a go again. We went for the the first time today. It was very busy. First hint of trouble was at the entrance. There were no shopping carts available, but there was a huge line of carts that an employee was guarding because "they were broken." No employees bringing in carts from the parking lot at all. So all of the customers had to walk outside to find a cart. Inside wasn't much better. Store was in obvious disarray, with stuff everywhere. Just a mess. You'd see a random employee stocking every now and then, but then there were employees leaning against things looking at their phone. Boxes stacked in the middle of aisles, etc. Took a while to get the things we needed, and we went to get in line to check out. No regard for the line at all. People were going around and cutting all over the place. Zero employees there to help facilitate traffic. When we got everything scanned (self checkout), there was a problem with the payment machine. The whole register locked up and wouldn't complete the transaction. We had to flag down an employee who couldn't fix it either. So, we just left the cart and came home. Not sure I ever want to go back in there. What a mess. read more

This is the place my family shops most frequently for groceries, but unless you have a family of at least four that rarely eats out at restaurants, I wouldn't recommend getting them here as everyone knows the quantities are just too much. They always seem well stocked with everything I need. Plenty of fresh food and of course those coveted rotisserie chickens. Lots of home cleaning supplies, pet food, health and hygiene, an efficient pharmacy, books, basic clothes, and more snack food than anyone could possibly need. Of course there's also a hot food "restaurant" with pizza and the like (similar to a baseball field concession stand) on the other side of checkout. Actually I disagree with other reviewers on staffing. I've seen them better staffed than most places in town. If you're at checkout, prepare to wait. It's just the nature of the beast at bulk warehouse stores like this. Costco is no different. read more

I have been to this location a few times, because it is pretty close to home and it's the only Sam's in Lubbock. The shelves are always stocked and there is a good selection of meat and veggies. Can we all appreciate the ROTISSERIE CHICKEN for easy, peasy meal preps? Using the scan & go feature is smooth and easy, especially on busier days, it gets you in and out in a hurry. It has been clean every time I stopped by. The staff there are always nice and helpful. Very large parking lot. I am happy that they are convenient for me. read more

This is how not busy Sam's was the day I waited 8 hours to get unloaded. Their is no one else in front of me. They still have the same problem in charge of Receiving here at this location off Marsha Sharp Freeway in Lubbock Tx. Don't come here. Every other Sam's in the world is swift at Receiving and keeping the docks clear for the next truck, except for here. This place has been ran like this for years now. If the women would work instead of stopping and talking about their kids for an hour the dock might get cleaned. read more

It is always busy , But for some reason Sam's Club is Allowing 18 Wheelers to fuel at the pumps , This is what was going on when I went to put gas in my pickup . So anyone who has a CDL understands that these big Trucks have two 150 gallon tanks and the Sam's Fuel island only has one hose per pump . And is not built for 18 wheelers , the pump output is less at a Sam's and hoses are smaller for cars and pickups witch puts customers in a bind waiting on these Trks. To fuel takes over 30 min. Per. It was the anniversary of something, very loud music, and the estimated wait time to check out at about 30 minutes. This rating is for Ryan in the tire center! After several issues to get an audibly leaking tire fixed, Ryan was very helpful and kind. Ryan took the extra time to answer all of my questions and look up information on my tire history. As I was leaving Sam's, I noticed that the other tires that weren't worked on this morning were at 31 and 30 psi. I got out of the car to air them a little with my portable inflator. When Ryan saw me doing this, he came out with their air inflator and aired up The remaining three tires. Ryan was not obligated to do that! Ryan went above and beyond this morning to help me. It made my day! It made up for the difficulties I experienced the day before at Sam's Club and with their call center. Thanks Ryan! read more

Sams gas pumps need rules enforced. It clearly says ENTRANCE ONLY. People just don't follow the rules. Go the correct way and it wouldn't be such a mess for the people waiting in line while the stupid people come in the wrong way. The pizza place inside sams club. First off the guy named Christian was RUDE & CARELESS about the long line and showed ZERO effort to take care of customers. Once the little old lady came to take care of line as the 2 employees in back were joking with each other and not helping as well she took my order and I calmly asked if they were short handed today she chuckles and says "No we got everybody". Couldn't believe how anybody in management position would allow their employees to represent such a HUGE corporation like that. My sale took 30 seconds to be processed because I only wanted a soda but the fact they were making us wait like that without showing any concern was just unacceptable, a line full of women & infants getting upset. If you knew the old store, this one will feel comfortable. The idea and layout are the same but the parking is better thought out and not nearly as congested. If you're new to Sam's Club and looking for 8 lbs of ground cinnamon or 14,000 plastic spoons Sam's will have it. The store is the wholesale arm of Walmart so the selection is pretty similar, just in larger quantities at Sam's. The new store is well organized and pretty clean, but the employees haven't gotten any friendlier which is unfortunate. If you're a club member, the gas prices cannot be beat! read more

Sam's Club is rundown and mediocre. We had a membership but gave it up when competition came to town, and I'm really glad we did. We went with someone who has a membership to get supplies for a school fundraiser; items were out of stock, hard to find, and damaged. Most of the check out register are now self service and the whole place felt dingy. Nobody was specifically rude, but we only interacted with one employee during the whole trip - the person checking our receipt on the way out the door. read more

I honestly love sams. I could spend all day in there. The employees I've come across are always helpful and know where all their items are when I'm needing assistance. They have a big parking lot so you won't have any trouble parking. I do suggest you go to the bathroom before coming, or just hold it. Their restrooms are not cleaned regularly it seems, and some of the stalls do not lock. Over all they have good sales! read more

The place is like a warehouse. Or is it a warehouse? Idk. But if you'd ask me, this is 10x better than Walmart; people here are neat and friendly, the staff is approachable, and its there are a lot of good selections to buy in bulk. I give it 4 out of 5 because there are tiny details they need to work on. First, an annual $100 membership is highway robbery. Second, knowing that people buy in bulk there should be more cashier lanes open. Its upsetting to line up there when there's only 5 lanes open. Third, why is this place too far from civilization? Seriously. If only this was nearer, there would be more customers. Lastly, I wish the associates are friendlier. The only people I saw smile are the door greeters. Great place. Just minor stuff to fix but a happy and smiling associate will have a great impact to the shoppers. read more

Tried to pick up my prescription here after a double surgery and I took about an hour... I was the first in line and it quickly became a 10-15 person line as the lady struggled to communicate effectively with me and figure out how to use my insurance. Ended up having to pay it out of pocket because she couldn't figure out how to input my insurance and I was getting embarrassed for both of us with all the dirty looks from grandma trying to pick up her weekly blood pressure. Gas is actually cheaper at Bolton's gas stations and people can't listen to the enter and exit only signs at the pumps. Multiple altercations with dingbats and a terrible pharmacy. I'll take my business elsewhere as should you if your PAYING to even enter the store. read more

Went shopping today and it was raining. When we finished and went to load our car, it was still raining so went to pull into the loading lane but couldn't because Cars were parked there. We had to load in the rain. Called the store to complain and was told that there was nothing they would do because management allows customers to park in the loading area under the cover if its raining. read more

Their bakery is a MESS!! i ordered a cake the day before my sons birthday, they gave me a time to come in and pick it up but when I got there at the time they hadn't even STARTED on the cake!!!! Their was 3 other women by me saying that they told them the same thing!!! So eventually they whip together the cake for me but when I got home I realized it was completely the wrong flavor of cake. It's Sam's...its a big warehouse of things you can't live without and its a symbol of what America is today. If you know what you want or need...go in...get it and go. If you're not sure and you're just "browsing", do yourself a favor...do a little research before you go and zero in on what you want. It can be difficult to do selective browsing in this place, especially on the weekends when there are a lot of people. Overall, its great for bulk purchases and stocking up on supplies. First time I went there had a good experience with this guy he was very helpful and he knew I was a college student and he quoted me an 8 on my tire tread depth instead of a 6 which it was to help me out because I'm in college. I needed a new tire and I had warranty so he was helping me out great dude awesome. I went the next day to get my tire put on and there was a new girl there and she was having none of that discount. She said i don't know how he got that number discount but that's not right at all. After explaining he was helping me out and quoted me $40 cheaper she said that's not how it works. And so I had to pay regular price for the tire which made me pretty upset. Not a big deal but again $40 for a college student is a lot of money and it sucked from going to a really good experience with a great guy and a great deal to just being blown off by another worker a day later. read more

I know a couple of Sam's stores and this one is as good as others. The layout is as the most newer stores have it, so after a short adjustment you will find everything you need to. The parking is great, and if people complain about it, they might not very good drivers after all. It is already embarrassing enough to have to explain to the cashier that I use WIC because they have to press the right button for me to use the card but then the cashier says we don't accept WIC here and kept repeating it louder so that the long line behind me heard everything. Generally the pharmacy staff is very helpful. But twice now I have gone to pick up an RX and the gentleman that helped me was no gentleman. He was sarcastic, rude and actually belittling me when I asked a question. I had picked up the same RX last month and there was no charge as I had met my deductible, but yet he wanted to charge me 280.00 for the RX and when I questioned it he just rolled his eyes and told me it was my responsibility to call the insurance. He then gives me the Rx - and told me I needed to check with the Pharmacist for instructions on this pill I have taken for years. When I told him I didn't need instruction, he again rolled his eyes and in a very rude tone looks at me and says "It's the Law". He needs some serious customer service training. I don't have a problem calling the insurance company, I don't have a problem talking to the pharmacist. My problem was the lack of respect for a customer. I don't have a membership here, I really just come here to get a flu shot once a year. You aren't required to have a membership to use the pharmacy or to get a flu shot. The pharmacy staff is always very nice. The only downside is that they raised their flu shot prices this year. read more

We like Sams club but hate the new location. Most of the people are nice. The store is generally clean. One lady at the food court that you get hot dogs and pizza is really slow. I stood in line for 20 minutes the other day. There were only two people in front of me. Another time a guy was helping her and he helped 3-4 people to her one. Yep! Guess who I got again. This place is succumbing to poor management. It feels dirty compared to Costco. The fact that you have to switch a cart load of stuff even if it's 50 of the same item is moronic. There is someone checking for any possible shoplifting at the exit, why do we need to wait an additional 5 minutes so the poor tiny cashier can get a flat bed from outside? I used to enjoy getting a 3 berry sundae from the deli but now the set up is so inefficient that one has to wait upwards of 5 minutes to place an order. I'm giving this Sams only three stars, because I like that it's fairly clean and kept up in the actual store. As far as the bathrooms, they stink and are dirty. What can you do?
