Oh, what a delightful experience I had at Sam's Club, where I naively thought getting new tires on my car would be a smooth, professional process. Silly me! I booked my appointment two weeks in advance, pre-ordered my tires, had them shipped, and arrived early like the responsible soul I am. But when I graced the tire counter with my presence, the gentleman there--clearly a master of customer service--insisted my appointment didn't exist. Repeatedly. With conviction. I showed him my confirmation number, and poof! Like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat, my appointment miraculously appeared. How convenient. Handing over my keys, I was promised a swift one-hour service, 10 to 11 AM, as per my appointment. Spoiler alert: I was wrong to trust that, too. I camped out in the Sam's Club waiting area for two and a half hours, twiddling my thumbs, hearing nothing but the sound of my own patience evaporating. No call, no text, no carrier pigeon--nada. Starving, I shuffled over to the café, only to be told I couldn't order at the counter like a normal human being. No, no, I needed their app. Because apparently, in 2025, speaking to a person is too 20th century. Thankfully, a friend swooped in to rescue me for lunch, because clearly, I was destined to waste my entire day in tire limbo. Six hours later--yes, six--I dragged myself back to check on my car. The staff handed me my keys with the breezy nonchalance of people who've never heard of urgency, acting as if I hadn't just aged a decade waiting. I trudged out to my car, only to find my wheels looking like they'd been dipped in a swamp, covered in gunk and adorned with charming dirty handprints all over my once-pristine vehicle. Truly, a work of art. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure I could've slapped those tires on faster myself with a wrench and some elbow grease. Next time, I'll just call Bob the Builder or Handy Manny--they'd at least have the courtesy to wipe their hands before smudging up my car. Bless their hearts for trying, though. read more

I have not been happy with the Lynchburg store especially after the remodel. We tend to go to the Roanoke store more often because they carry a better selection of products especially our lactose free milk. read more

This Sam's is definitely on the smaller side. While in Lynchburg, we came here to pick up a few items. It was pretty easy to get in and out of. I appreciate Sam's for purchasing certain items. Some items just don't make sense to get from here. I was pleased with this visit. I'm sure we will come here again to reload the next time we're in town. read more

Customer service and selection at this location has really gone down hill. I usually go to Danville Sam's Club because they have a better selection and more items I want. Management does not care at all to try to improve things. Maybe one day we'll get a Costco to give them a reality check. read more

I received a delivery of flowers for Mother's Day that were horrible quality!! My adult children couldn't be with me so sent what they hoped to be a cheerful arrangement, the roses and carnations we're opened with petals falling off the roses, with no scent whatsoever but worst of all these jumbo Gerbera daisies were slimy and moldy and rotted off the stems placed in plastic straws. the whole bouquet was filled with moldy leaves at the center which sent me into an acute asthma attack! Even the Eucalyptus was moldy and little bugs came out. Love that my children cared but to Sam's floral, you have RUINED my holiday weekend. Buyer Beware!!! what a waste of money. read more

Don't like the two tier system, poor and rich card levels, the rich get to get in 2 hours earlier than the poor, when i'm out running around buying things, I can't buy it here, have to wait till ten, I like to do my shopping early without the crowds, at 10 it is already crowded. I started out with a business account, use to get in early, then they changed business people to the poorer class. An then you have to put up with the card nazi's at the door, never felt welcome there. Then there is the pickup fee no matter how much you buy, where other stores is free over $35 purchase. No wonder they are closing down sam's clubs around the country. They just don't understand customer service at all. read more

Incompetence. I came at 11am to order a whole pizza to go. While waiting for my food, they tell me they ran out of pizza boxes. Are you serious? So I'm told to go to customer service to get a refund. So they can't read the receipt because the ink was so faded. When I finally get my refund they give it to me in cash! For real, cash? She said she could have returned it via credit card but just didn't do it. I never want to come back here again! read more

Warehouse shopping. The super-sized solution to your toilet paper needs... well, ok, it is more than that of course and Sams, like Costco & BJ's, offers shopping on a grander scale. There are plenty of items available which may, or may not, be the best possible cost - you really ought to do the math before you go into these places, but in general, you can find a good deal on things provided you can actually use all of it before it goes bad. To me then, these types of places are great for dry goods and for when you are tossing a big shindig and need a massive amount of plastic cups, hot dogs and rolls. They have a nice selection of items and a pretty extensive selection of meats available. The frozen section is great but again, so long as you have the room to store the stuff. Prices are good - and getting out of there has been relatively quick and easy. The store is clean and the folks working there are very nice and helpful. Give it a shot - especially if you have a family or can share with other singles. Parking in front. read more

At first I liked Sam's however the other day I witnessed first hand something pathetic. A woman was going to purchase 3 jars of cheese dip, on the shelves were two prices $8.98 and $7.98 - she photographed it, checked the UPCs of many jars, everything was exact. She then went to an store assistant (don't know this women's title but she was standing in front toward the registers. This woman checked on her phone the price needless to say she gave the woman the higher price. The first time I ever saw a store give the higher price vs. the lower price when it was the stores fault/error. I spoke with her briefly afterwards, she said "I am getting rid of my Sams credit card and not shopping here anymore, prices are going up everywhere and you can't tell me for he sake of good customer relations they couldn't give her the lower price ($1). She placed the product back on the shelf and left a basket filled to the brim and over and walked out. The assistant manager was white, brown should length hair, young, and not once smiled. I think flooding the internet with reviews will put a pin in their ass. Pathetic Sams Club is now on the "Screw Consumers List". read more

Tire Department. Tried to call about hours and prices. Was left on hold for 30 minutes. Finally decided to just go in, and was quoted 15-30 minutes to get a flat fixed. Sounds normal. After over an hour and a half and them only taking two other customers after us, we still did not have our keys back. Overall it took nearly 5 times longer than quoted. This wouldn't even have been an issue for us if we knew it would take that long; we could have done our other errands we then didn't have time for. Employees kept assuring us it would "be right out", so we sat on the uncomfortable bench the whole time (minus 15 minutes where we were eating). A manager did give us a small gift card for our trouble. Just beware of the service in that department. read more

Prices are great but service a major concern. I've spent a considerable amount of time attempting to speak to anyone and/or being placed on hold. I finally gave up & hung up to call another day. Glad it was not an emergency. When I called the next day my call was not answered at designated department. After I had customer service page a response I was again placed on hold. Finally I was told they were short handed. From online purchase to product receipt was 10 days. Additionally, it will be another week before they can mount the tires. Nearly three weeks from online purchase to completion. Guess I should have gone with my instincts and purchased through my local auto service center. A good reminder that you get what you pay for. UPDATE. Picked up tires & had installed (20 days order to install). Excellent service by customer rep at counter. read more

I love Sam's Club. For those of you who are thinking, "I don't own a business" or "I don't have a family the size of the Duggars", you do not need to be either of those things in order to shop here. I have a family of two, and depending how much eating you do at home, this place is great. Yes, the initial shock of some of them items' prices may take you off guard, but I've done a lot of price comparing between Sam's and other stores, even online places, and most of the time Sam's is worth it for the items you really do use/consume. I own a small baking business, so I have a business membership. Last year they told me I could upgrade to the Plus Membership, and based on my spending over the year it looked like I'd actually pay less for it. (you get $10 in rewards for every $500 you spend, but you pay $100 for it upfront instead of the $45 for the regular membership) Unfortunately, a year has gone by and they were wrong. I've only earned $30 in rewards, so, I'll be switching back. I do love that the business membership lets you get in earlier than normal members, though i never use this feature. I was also once told to try out the "click-n-pull" feature where you can order your items a day in advance online and they'll have them ready for you when you come into the store. I tried this once and will never do it again. It seemed easy at first, I checked in at a kiosk, and I expected my food would just be wheeled out to me in a moment, I'd pay, and leave. Well, I checked in at the kiosk and then just stood there cluelessly at the front of the store. After 5 minutes went by, I checked with a manager on what to do and she told me I was right to just wait. More minutes went by and finally I asked again what was going on. By then, I could've been in and out of the store. I am very fast. Eventually I found out that my cart of items (including frozen and refrigerated) had been wheeled to customer service which is where you pay for this stuff. That'd be convenient if the customer service line wasn't the slowest line ever. I watched my frozen blueberries just hanging out in a cart for over 10 minutes. I finally got to pay and realized I could've done the trip way faster myself. I think for people who have big orders or heavy items this would be great, but for me with my 15 items, it was not worth it. I love that Sam's now has lanes that are self-service. Here's a tip: MAKE SURE TO PUT ALL OF YOUR ITEMS IN YOUR CART WITH THE BARCODE FACING UP! This will make your checkout experience a BREEZE. I can check out in under 1 minute. Beware of the check-out lanes that have the conveyor belts . . . some Sam's staff make you take everything out of you cart and put it on the belt, and some don't. Great features of Sam's overall: 1. Tire department with installation, much cheaper than other places in town. 2. Produce department has really stepped up their game with organics. Overall, Sam's had made leaps to provide healthier food items and for those with specific diets. 3. I've been able to request several items to be brought back or brought to the store and the online staff is helpful and many of my requests have been fulfilled. 4. Super cheap food for when you need to grab lunch to go - the pretzel and pizza/drink combos are super cheap! The hot dogs are huge, and they have all of the toppings. They also offer a salad, yogurt, and other fresh and prepared items. 5. Pharmacy has a great selection of generics. 6. Wine selection is great as well with decent prices on a nice variety. 7. Okay this is not a review about Sam's Club. Those of you who know Sam's know that it is pretty vanilla big box shopping. This review is about the Ribs and the Pizza at Sam's Club. OMG! the ready cooked hot BBQ Ribs at Sams are the best in the city. They come in a slab for about 10 bucks and they are finger licking yummy. I served them with Ribs from another restaurant here in town and everyoen raved about Sams Ribs. I did not tell them where they came from unitl after the dinner. Now for the Pizza - big, round, delicious and cheap. If your oven is big enough to hold one, put it in and make it hot...whew sounds like I am writing for the porn channel doesn't it. Nope, this is all about the pizza! Great tasting crust, just the right amount of cheese. Call in and order one hot to go. Besides La Villa Da Toto, it is my favorite Pizza. La Villa is first on the list though. read more

Never as crowded as Cost Co. large sized everything. They are a Sister store of Walmart so they have pretty good pricing overall. It's a nice store, frequently there are various samples of food available. The cafe sells 2 pieces of pizza & a 32 oz drink for very little money. They also have delicious hot dogs very reasonably priced. If you have a large family for $35. a year you will be quite satisfied. I like the clothes they sell both for children and adults. Big box store that sells in quantity. Many of the items are more than what I would need for 2 people. You have to watch your prices since you can get the same items cheaper at Walmart at times. You have to pay a price to join the club. I think the price was about $45 when I renewed my membership back in May. I find that you can get better deals at Costco, but since there are no Costcos in Lynchburg I do bulk shopping when needed at Sams. They have some good clothing and good books at good prices. read more

We were visiting Lynchburg and about to head out when we noticed our tire was dead flat. We stopped by sams club to get the tire fixed and we had our two elderly small pups with us. They wouldn't let them stay in the car while they looked at the tire (which other sams clubs have allowed in a pinch) and then when I tried to take them inside on a leash Tasha wouldn't let me even go in to the tire dept to wait with them. They are service dogs and I have the credentials but of course not on me because none of this was expected. I would normally be fine outside except this morning it was in the teens with the wind chill!! They didn't seem to care. Tasha was kinda rude about the whole thing. I was so upset and the only nice person was Susan who was doing the carts. She talked to someone else and they finally allowed me in out of the freezing cold with the dogs but after quite a bit of an ordeal that didn't need to happen. Where's the compassion?! It's not like we planned on this and still brought our dogs, it was obviously an emergency stop. Would not recommend this place if you're looking for good customer service! read more

As far as the food area goes. UM.... its kinda nasty and just too busy. serving hotdogs that are kinda yummy with pre pacaged condiments. pretzels and pizza that I really dont think are exceptional at all. Why is in the restaurant section at all? Its more like a vending area thats crazy! Now as far as sams club goes there are some exceptional items there at great prices that you have to look around for. Sams club is a great place to buy in bulk. There is plenty of parking. Sam's never seems to run low or run out of any of their products they sell. The prices are fair and low. The seafood and meats are very fresh and cut daily. Their produce section also has a large variety of fresh clean vegetables and produce. There are always plenty of free samples so you can try new things before you buy them. They also sell a wide array of electronics, jewelry, office supplies, and even paper towel and soap dispensers; however they can never seem to have enough help at the checkout lanes when they're crowded and there never seems to be an employee or manager when you have a question. Overall it's an enjoyable place to shop and buy things in bulk. Me and my family will continue to shop at this Establishment. read more

Worn out store with little money being put back into it. Little has been done to really upgrade the ambiance here (to Costco or other Sam's Club levels) or make the layout better for customers. Looks like we're shopping inside an old warehouse on the south side of an abandoned rail yard in Philadelphia. I travel across the state and beyond on a regular basis, and use my Sam's Club membership often, but without fail I always return to Lynchburg once again depressed with the Ward's Road Sam's Club. The inside is adequate in cleanliness, but the outside? One of the consistently trashiest and unkempt Sam's Club anywhere in Virginia and the surrounding states too. Definitely an ongoing--for years now--and as yet unsolved, pride of management issue. read more

The kids love to stop at the snack bar. Pretzels are great and the pizza slices are huge! I feel like the membership is worth it for the items we buy in bulk, especially paper products. Only complaint is if it's busy the lines get crazy long and they don't typically open up more registers. read more
