If some of you clowns would realize that this is a discount wholesale store, your 1, 2 and 3 star reviews might be higher. This is not a boutique. What they provide is good products at a good price. They are usually priced a bit lower than Costco and the quality is just as good. I have used the optical shop. My glasses were ready in 4 days as opposed to Sharp optical where they came in 5 weeks and were 4 times as much. The tire shop is great. They have a large selection and the service is quick and reliable, and the prices are always lower than discount tire stores. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If I need a tire rotation, the techs are always friendly and usually get me right in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For those of you who think the line is too long at the food court, what did you expect. The food is not great but it is not bad which is why a lot of people like to eat there! As far as there selection of food and general items, I seem to find most things I need. If they do not have it, there is a WalMart next door, I can get it there. I have bought TVs and watches there, no problems with any of these. I have bought food items there that had issues and they refunded me immediately at the store. And as far as checking out, the lines are always shorter here than at Costco. I find there system much easier to get through. They do not need to use traffic cops like Costco to get you through there self check out lines. And if want you can use there bulk checkout system on your phone. So if you are dissatisfied with your flower arrangement, then go to a florist. If the cake you ordered is not prepared exactly as you wanted it, go to a bakery. If you have to wait 30 minutes for a rotisserie chicken, go shop and come back, otherwise go to KFC. But stop whining about these things that you bought at a wholesale warehouse that weren't to your EXACT specifications!! read more

Big lot althought majority of the time it's full. It's nice when you walk in they give the cart to you at the entrance. They have so much cool merch and snacks. Sample vending machine and workers also providing samples occasionally. They have the cutest cheesecake minis that aren't that mini. I like the layout. If you have the app you can also do scan and go which makes shopping a breeze, just make sure to scan each item as you place them in the cart to make it easier. No need to wait in line! read more

Quick update here... Okay, am I insane or just missing something? Does this Sam's Club (or Sam's Club in general) not have fresh crab legs? Sure they have salmon and tuna next to the meat counter but I was seeking out king crab over Easter and couldn't find anything other than the prepackaged one in the freezer section. Maybe they're seasonal? I don't know. Let me start off by saying that I have been a loyal Costco member for many years. However, with Groupon and other deals, being a Sams Club member has its perks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I especially like the "Scan & Go" feature. While it has changed through time, from going under a scanner, to getting checked at the door to now having a new scanning feature at the door, it still beats waiting in line to check out![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The app also allows you to pre-order food at the concession area. While this has changed over time too, it doesn't save much time anymore. There is one line to order, one line to pick-up. You pre-ordering does not give you special privileges anymore as everyone waits in line to get what they ordered, regardless of when you ordered it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The other down fall is there is NO MORE printed cards, everything is app driven. Which is a huge downfall or decline for those who are electronically challenged, do not have updated phones, or clearly wish to not utilize apps anymore. I do hope they make exceptions to the rule because I can see them losing a lot of business.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is plenty of parking, although the close-up and nearby parking is a pain and traffic jam. TL;DR: if you're within 15-20 min of Sam's Club, could be worth getting g the membership. My husband wanted to see the biggest difference between Sam's Club and Costco. The plus membership and is already a little cheaper than Costco's executive membership ($110 vs $130) however with only 1 Sam's Club in the entire San Diego county, you have to live pretty close to be a regular here. Pricing across the warehouse is pretty comparative to Costco though, as is the layout. Definitely their own brands and a few other items we don't usually see at the Costco we frequent. I am impressed with the meat selection, lots of options at reasonable prices, different alcohol options as well. Wow Sam's has stepped up their pizza game! Not sure if this was just yesterday in the food court or if this is just how their pizzas are now but our slices were ENORMOUS and seemed to be more deep dish style. There was more cheese than I can handle and I love a thick cheese pull. Pepperoni was plentiful and perfectly crispy, awesome flavor. Drink cups were also bigger than our previous visits and the soda seemed more crisp and carbonated then past experience when it was flat and syrupy. Babe, there must be a major supply chain issue here? Lotta products are out, the layout of the business is a little disorganized to say the lease. Period very disorganized at the checkouts as well as the self check out doesn't really speed things up any faster because people don't understand what you can and cannot take through there and then they want to complain about it. Sam's Club has a special membership deal that ends 4/30/2024 for $14 a year compared to $50. There's only one Sam's Club in San Diego, the next closest would be Fountain Valley or Murrieta. Sam's Club is like a combination of Costco and Wal-Mart products. They have their own brand called Member's Mark. At first glance, the warehouse seems huge because it's mainly name brand products. You barely see Member's Mark. There are a few items that Costco doesn't carry that I've been getting for the past decade. It's the Nature Well coconut oil moisturizer cream under $10. The cafe (food court) is similar to Costco w a dink combo w hot dog for $1.38. We find Costco hot dog to be better because their bun is way softer but Sam's Club bun has sesame seeds. We got a slice of pepperoni pizza and sausage & pepperoni. We also got the pizza pretzel. I prefer the pizza here because the dough and crust is more fluffy and has air pockets. For the drinks, you can get soda or ICEE! There's also tons of bottled drinks for purchase. You do need your membership to enter and to purchase from the food court. It's all on the mobile app. There are self check out. The tire center and optical shop is all indoor. You can't go wrong with either membership. However, this Sam's location does not offer gas. read more

Sam's club is just like Costco but smaller scale for this location. Every time I visit Sam's club, I tend to throw a lot of stuff in my cart. The prices are really good for bulk items. They have almost everything you can ask for in a retail warehouse. They have staffs with stationary carts that passes out samples. Very good to have around because you can sample them and decide to buy the product or not. They have bakery, meat, clothes, electronics, household cleaning, beverages and alcohol. Very good prices for the alcohol. The meat, vegetables and bakery products are super fresh. They also have a cafe inside the warehouse, it's a pretty good deal. Their pizza can't compete with Costco's pizza though but still a pretty good price. They serve Pepsi products here. read more

Clean employees and friendly and polite professional. I am pleased with my Sam's pickup today. I was pleasantly surprised to see they moved the pick up location and I love it. It's away from the parking lot and it looks like there may be more spots. In the past people would park in the pick up spots and go inside and shop which defeats the purpose of those spots. That was frustrating because I would have to circle the spots trying to find an empty one. The new location will hopefully alleviate those issues. Thank you Jorge for bringing out my order. Every time Jorge has brought my order he has a smile and positive attitude. So I noticed that most people who have posted a review are complaining about this and that, but I decided to post what is GREAT about this Sam's Club (I am going to compare it to CostCo La Mesa). I have been a shopper at Sam's for more than 15 years. What is great is if you are a Plus Member (only $110 year vs CostCo $130 Citibank Executive member); you get earlier Plus Member exclusive shopping hours of 8am-10am (vs CostCo earlier 9am Executive Member hour), 2% Sam's Cash on in-club purchases (without having to sign up for their MasterCard vs having to purchase CitiBank Card at CostCo for additional savings); Free Delivery from Club on $50 purchases (without hiking up the cost of the goods you are purchasing vs InstaCart hiked up pricing at CostCo); Free Curbside Pickup on $50 orders (vs No Curbside pick-up at CostCo). Now my absolute FAVORITE reasons for shopping at Sam's Club vs CostCo are: Scan-and-Go, SCAN-and-Go, SCAN-AND-GO! With the Sam's App on your phone, you scan all your items yourself and place in your cart, pay on your phone and Go! - no check-out to pay lines, and if you shop early 8-10a time frame you can get in and out very quickly; (disclaimer if you are buying alcohol you will have to pay at a register). Also, since I am conscious about the meat I am eating, I like that Sam's stocks grass-fed steaks (rib eye, tenderloin, strip) also carries grass-fed ground beef, and Rosie's Organic Chicken (whole chicken, boneless chicken breasts, chicken tenders, chicken wings and boneless chicken thighs). They have a good organic fresh produce selection, and their eggs are much better priced than CostCo. I approve of their fresh bakery items, cakes, cookies, breads. I love their great selection of sushi items. Parking is easy compared to the nightmare at the La Mesa CostCo, where you are dodging cars for your life just walking through their poorly designed parking lot. Now I do like shopping at CostCo as well, I just thought I would write a review on all that Sam's is doing right. read more

Later that evening, my wife and I were purchasing items online, when we noticed that our account showed we had used some of our Sam's cash, which felt odd. We checked our purchase history and noticed there was a second transaction about a 1 minute after I had finished my purchase in store. This second transaction used part of our Sam's cash to pay for a portion of items, and the rest was put on a card that does not belong to us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We reached out to Sam's support via their chat function online which connected us with an individual. We explained our situation and at first it seemed like there was nothing that they would do. They claimed it was a valid purchase[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We were recommended to go to the store and work it out, but not sure if we should trust the store that just made a transaction on our account. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The online chat ended with us being told they will investigate and lets us know what their findings are in the next 5-7 business days.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had more Sam's cash available that would have covered the entire purchase, but I am assuming taking a smaller amount would not be as noticeable. The amount was not a lot; however, its the principle. If this is happening to more people these small amounts add up. Anyway, check your Sam's cash after every transaction. read more

Omar got my car into the bay within 2 minutes of getting to the location. Tires installed in an hour and done correctly. Overall compared to Discount tires which have a 5 time higher installation cost the installation was 3 times faster (or infinitely faster as Discount Tires could not install the tires) and a much better value. Make the appointment ahead of time and try if possible to choose an early morning time for best service. read more

On 03/27/26, I had a wonderful experience at the San Diego (College Grove) store's battery/tire shop (store #6235). I wanted to extend my gratitude to Devin who tested my battery and confirmed I did not need a new battery, despite the dealership telling me I needed a new $500 battery. I really appreciated Devin's honesty. I should add I was there with my 2 month old baby and Devin got me in and out of there He earned the Sam's Club battery shop a customer for life. So.. the store itself has a great variety of products and sooo much to look at. I probably would have spent longer looking if I was alone. Only one register open when we went to check out, they opened a second one and I went to pay with cash, but the register was completely empty. What manager has an employee start at a register without checking it for cash?! So... we had to wait about 10 minutes. It seemed like the manager tried having the other cashier close her register while everyone was backed up on the one I was one. But the cashier continued helping and took those in line to help my cashier out. The manager didn't seem to really care. Taking her time etc. my cashier then asked if she could just get $28.40 for my change. Both my husband and I heard him say it, after a while she comes back and only gives me a $20. I said oh it was $28, not $20. And she passively aggressively says as she's walking away to get the $8 that well he said $20. And I spoke up, I said he most certainly did not. He said $28. I was nice, but I didn't want him getting written up for something that was not his fault in the slightest. I wish I could remember the names. The gentleman that was our cashier was nice. This happened today, Sunday, October 26,2025 at around 9:40am. I am leaving that information so hopefully if the owner or upper management see this they can narrow down who it was and address the situation.
