Buyer beware! I originally went to Costco for contact lens. Was told they don't take my insurance. I went to Sam's Club to get them next. Prior to either one I had just picked up my 6 month script and wasn't sure I had anymore discounts available. I was at Sams and I gave them my insurance to check. They checked and said it would be covered and they took my insurance. I thought I saved $175 but 6 months later I get a bill for exactly $175! Called and they said not their problem pay the bill! I was prompted by SamsClub.com online to pay my membership fee as it was set to expire, so I did. Every subsequent visit to Sam's ends in the register prompting me to pay another membership fee of $50.00. This has happened since the end of January, but I've paid already so I go to the membership services and tell the associate (nice dude) what is happening. He takes my card and enters the info and there's no record of my paid membership. I show him the $50.00 deduction from my bank phone app. He says he has to wait for the supervisor who is waiting on another customer to me left. No problem, I say and wait for her. She comes over, in short, I explain that I paid through Samsclub.com and she tells me, "We tell everybody not to pay online as it never gets done". This is not the response from a representative of Sam's Club. A proper response from an EMPLOYEE is to say something like, "No problem, let's get this taken care of". After her stinky response of trying to make this look like it's my fault for paying proactively online, I said, "Well, you didn't tell me that. Maybe Sams Club shouldn't send f ing texts prompting online payment". Now, she takes offence to my use of an f word, not at all pointed at her and refuses to refund my money. She instead turns herself into a victim and uses her walkie to summon the manager because she doesn't like the way I speak. Talk about a power trip. By the time the manager comes around the corner, with no context to what I was there for, he tells me to leave his store. No problem! I'm still out my fifty bucks, but Sams Club is stuck with a lousy representative as a supervisor. Good riddance, Sam's. read more

I love their curbside pickup. Makes shopping so convenient. They are fast and friendly!

Sam's isn't even trying anymore since Costco opened. The store isn't as clean, the stock on the shelves isn't as neatly displayed, the staff is really disinterested in being there. The store is really like a ghost town and is kinda spooky in certain ways, as there just aren't many people in that big building. The thing that really 'butters my muffin' is the lack of staffed checkouts that are open. Yes, there are far fewer shoppers, but seriously, one staffed checkout with 4 people in line with semi full carts. Until I yelled at the cashier from the back of the line to call for another cashier, she was totally oblivious to the situation. Seriously, is common customer curiosity that alien to these people. The writing is on the wall with GIANT letters, Sam's had a good run, but Costco Traverse City will be their demise. And rightfully so. Needless to say when my Sam's membership expired in November, I didn't renew. read more

Was in this Sams Club the other day and was shocked with how dirty everything was...employees standing around doing nothing in the front end, since the store was empty. Overall vibe, downhill...why didn't this location close?? It needs to. Would not recommend shopping here. read more

I've been a Sam's Club member for over 25 years, but after my membership expires in February 2020 I will not be renewing it. My last two visits to Sam's Club I had to check myself out because there was only one cashier working. What am I paying a membership fee for when I have to transfer my purchases from one cart to another and check myself out? Last Sunday when we were going out the door the cashier scans our receipt and then scans the rib eye steaks in the cart to make sure we had paid for them. If she bothered to read the receipt she would have seen the first item on there was the rib eye steaks. So done with this place! Customer service is terrible! Hire some cashiers or refund my membership fee or pay me to shop there! Geeze! read more

Oh, Sam's, how I've missed thee. I have been to other Sam's Clubs, but they just aren't the same. I don't know what it is, but this one just seems nicer than other ones I've been to [where I live]. They have a really ginormous selection of wine, the food aisles seem to go on forever, and the employees are all very nice and helpful. When we were there and approaching the checkout, there were only two lines open with about 10 people in each line. By the time we got to the actual lines, they had opened four more lanes! I love my Sam's Club in Traverse City! The staff is always super helpful and knowledgeable. It say's something about a company when their employees stay there for years. It is clean and I love the option of being able to check myself out on my phone as I shop. They keep their prices down by letting you check out yourself if you wish. AND the gas station Rocks! The fuel there is always much less than ANYWHERE else! read more

Not too shabby. Their pretzels are too darn delicious. We try not to come more than 1x per month. Also, they have a gas station, most excellent. I found out they have a jump box when my car decided it needed a break at the pump and needed a jump. The foods pretty good. It's often packed, we met some people in line who came from Gaylord. read more

Visiting from Arizona, and having problems with my tires. Since I bought them at Sam's, I stopped here in Traverse City and had the pleasure of dealing with Bucky (nee Steve) in the service center. I visited the Lansing SAMs club 3 days ago to get new tires on my work van. I was really displeased with my experience, the staff was ignoring me although they had no cars they were working on, they were not knowledgable or friendly. I had two tires put on there and my van instantly had a horrible noise. I'm traveling for work and visited the traverse city same club to see if they could help me, maybe give me two more tires. The gentlemen that helped me could not have been any better! He was displeased with the Lansing branch work as well and clearly explained what was happening. So knowledgable, friendly, and worked quickly. I am so happy. I wish I lived closer to this SAMs club. read more

Updating my review as Sam's Club has started stocking an astonishing number of organic and other high quality items. I am planning on keeping my membership after Costco arrives (and adding Costco obviously). read more

I shop at Sams once a week and find there never seems to be enough lanes open. I can never find an employee when I can't find a product. I do however think the checkout cashiers are very friendly. read more

Products are always first class but service is going down hill faster and faster. Only one checkout open and a line 8 long. Almost left my cart and walked out. A Sam's assistant pointed me to the self checkout, but I explained that is why I went to college; so I would not have to work on a checkout. Seems that they now schedule workers assuming people use the self checkouts. While you are waiting 20-30 minutes to check out, you can see the award posters up on the wall for best store - they have won a few, but none since 2009. Says it all really. Needs some decent management. Plenty of people walking about with clipboards and stuff, but not able to man a checkout when needed. Costco coming to TC next year so will not have to put up with the neglect for long. read more

Overall I've been happy with Sams, but today my impression went down hill. Ordered a photo book for Christmas over a week ago. Was told it would be ready by 11 am Dec. 23. Went in and book was not there. Was told it was a 3rd party that puts books together for Sams. If I would have known that I would have had this project completed elsewhere. Not happy about a promise being broken, and associate with the "sorry I can't do anything, you're hosed mentality" read more

Compared to other warehouse stores this one fails for having hardly any organic foods, fresh or on the shelves, but particularly on the shelves. I can find more organic at Target so dropped my membership. read more
