I showed up at Daves Garage just minutes after they unlocked their doors on a Monday morning and can not say enough about the service I received from this amazing group of people. After going through the scariest 72 hrs of my life with my wife and 3 day old son both experience near death experiences shortly after his delivery I was a bit frazzled to say the least. I noticed a few issues while heading north chasing ambulances and had parked my vehicle for the weekend at our motel as everything was closed. I had no expectations of my vehicle even being looked at that morning as I knew everyone would be busy. I read the reviews on this place and without even calling decided it was worth a shot. Without hesitation they cleared a bay immediately and had my truck diagnosed in less time than it took me to let my wife know how these amazing folks where helping us out. Thank you to EVERYONE at Dave's Garage for your fantastic work and helping salvage a rough vacation for my family! We were on our way to Mackinac Island and experienced car trouble that required us to leave our vehicle over the weekend as it was after hours. After renting a car, finishing our vacation and returning to Dave's Garage we didn't know what to expect as our vehicle was being inspected. To our relief, the entire staff was amazing and they had our vehicle up and running by the end of the day. While the nature of the repair (coolant in transmission fluid) is costly no matter where we would have taken our vehicle, they did everything to keep cost down and performed repairs timely. They even picked me up at the rental place, which was a tremendous help! I had a great experience with Dave's Garage. The fit me in for a servicing of my car before a long trip to the west coast. They are polite, the office and waiting area are very clean; there is good internet connection. It turns out that to rotate my tires, a wheel key was needed and it was missing from my car. Not their problem or fault but mine. For the next hour or so, they tried every avenue of getting a key. Finally because they have good relations with their competitors, a really good sign of their being good businessmen and good people, the nearby dealership unlocked the wheels for free for me and as a favor for Jamie, one of the owners of Dave's. While I don't live in this area, Dave's Garage has to be one of the best car mechanics I've been to. I'm not sure if that's because I was on vacation when I had car trouble and they were very helpful in that situation, but this is definitely a great place. My car had overheated while I only had about a day left in the Traverse City area, so I found this place online and quickly took my car here. They found the problem (was based off of previous car repairs that were fixed poorly by another car mechanic) and they fixed it within 24 hours, so I was able to drive back home no problem. Customer service is great, they answer any questions, and are not out to take advantage of their customers whether you are or local or not. Hard to find places like these! read more

I read all the positive reviews, so I decided to take my car there. I took my car to my usual place, and I was quoted an outrageous price to fix my car. I decided to go to Dave's and give them a shot at my business. The person on the phone was really nice and got me in right away. Then, when I showed up I was actually treated like a VIP, and even had fun waiting. After 10 minutes, the lead mechanic came back and said, "It was easy fix, this one's on the house, and have a nice day sir." Last month we were on vacation in Traverse City and our fuel pump went out on our 2003 Silverado. I searched the internet for a local garage and found Dave's. I called and talked to Craig. He said he would get to it as soon as they could. Had the truck towed there and while waiting for my ride Craig and Jamie told me to cancel my Uber and that they had a shop vehicle that we could use. They also told us about Van's beach. We went there for the day in their car. Had a great time. They called and had the truck ready by noon and told me to take my time getting back. We found Dave's in a quick search, called them in desperation, and they scheduled us in .... the same day. My family of four drove from Wisconsin to Michigan for a few days while on vacation. On the way, our van started making noises and progressively got worse while we entered Traverse City. This is a very good place to deal with. The brakes went out on our Toyota Sienna while we were on vacation. I was very nervous about finding a trustworthy place to work with and we had two 17' kayaks and two bikes on the car. They got us in right away, diagnosed and fixed the problem and had us on our way. Everybody including office staff and the mechanic was friendly and polite. They even offered to help us remove the kayaks The waiting room was clean and what could easily have been vacation setback left us with only a good story. read more

Andy and his tech did a great job installing a rear suspension conversion kit for our 2011 BMW. Andy was friendly and professional and did a great job of communicating, and I love the option to do so via texting. They fit us into their schedule quickly and completed the work when they said they would. They were fine with installing the kit that I purchased online, with the reasonable provision that they couldn't guarantee the parts unless they supplied them. I have been here twice this year but several times over many years. My most recent visit was to have my brakes evaluated. They told me I did not need new brakes, but found a leaking clutch slave cylinder while under the car. This was fixed within 24 hours for a very fair price. Was in town for vacation and my veh engine light came on. I called them and explained my situation being in from out of town. They were sympathetic and got me in right away and had my veh fixed earlier and cheaper than quoted. They could have easily took advantage but they didn't.
