Very cool store where Cherry is everything and everything is Cherry. Everything from Cherry wines to cherry preserves to Cherry, popcorn, ice cream, cream, candy, coffee. Basically anything you could buy that Cherry would work for is here. They have lots of areas where you can try different things and you can do wine tasting as well. Staff was very friendly welcoming. Welcome to us as soon as we walked in the door and moved us through the line of checkout quickly. If you like Cherry, this is the place to come to. This store was so cute!! Everything they sell is cherry-flavored or has cherries in it--yummy. They also had a ton of samples out. Their candies and jams were delicious. I didn't take photos because there were a lot of people in there and I was distracted, but this place is so novel and fun! Especially if you like cherries/cherry-flavored things or fun food and drink souvenirs. This was my first time at this location, and they had a big bar with tastings! Every wine we tasted was delicious, and the bartender Emma was super friendly, talkative, and helpful. It was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend it. read more

What a fun spot! This place was recommended to me as a first time visitor to Traverse City. Located on the main street it has great curb appeal and an inviting look. As you enter you will encounter all things cherry as there are many different foods, drinks, and other items for purchase. It may feel a little overwhelming with the amount of things in the store! My family and I got to enjoy various samples of all things cherry, my favorite being the cherry gummy bears. We headed over to the wine counter in which we did two wine tastings for $1 each. The staff member who served us was knowledgeable and informative. Both of the wines I got were delicious! Everyone says you have to go to the Cherry Republic when you're in Traverse City. And you kind of do. Especially if you need to pick up gifts for in-laws and the neighbor who gets your mail when your out of town. Not super nice gifts. But cute gifts or interesting food stuffs. Spoiler alert: The food stuffs you eventually buy will be made with cherries. Cherry wine, cherry jam, cherry salsa, cherry barbecue sauce, cherry candy... Some of it's great, some not so much. It's large. It's packed. It's touristy. It has oven mitts with cherry designs and aprons with clever sayings. You've been somewhere like this before. If it's your thing, they do it pretty well. We came here during the cold month and the store was still so packed. Cannot imagine what the store will be like in the summer months. They have plenty of samples as usual. This time we all enjoyed the chipotle salsa a lot and all decided we had to buy this. Another mail order place I stumbled upon. Everything has cherries in it. What a cool concept. This is a local chain all over MI. It's worth it to get gift baskets for a variety. I've had jam, I used this for sweet and sour meatballs at church and there were none left. It's my standard potluck item. Salsa is naturally on a sweeter side, dried cherries that I put in rice pudding instead of raisins. Kicked that up a few notches. Trail mix, chocolate covered cherries, salad dressing, cookies. Starting to get the picture. You will go as dog nuts as I did when you go online and on the mailing list. The photos of the stores made this Minnesotan very envious. read more

We absolutely love Cherry Republic and could not wait to spend some time and money here! I'd love to tell you what products are must-haves, but there are so many! We're big fans of the Sour Cherry balls and gummy cherries. Both tart and satisfying. They have salsas, chocolates, sauces galore, wines, beer, NA drinks, snacks, popcorn, mustards... all ode to the Traverse City cherry. My MIL spent a little time sampling wines at the counter. A must visit while in downtown Traverse City! They have everything cherry- coffee, ice cream, chocolate covered cherries, and more! Some fun and unique things that we sampled were the cherry salsas, cherry bbq sauce, and cherry mustard. The wine tasting was lovely too. All locally sourced and they even ship their products to other states (not the wine). Who would have known Traverse city is the cherry capital of the world? I definitely didn't. However, I kept hearing about Cherry Republic and decided to snoop around. Everything in there is made with cherries which is pretty neat. The whole store is filled with samples of their products. I sampled everything from candy, coffee beans, different dipping sauces, etc. My favorite part was the wine tasting that they offer. You can get a flight for $9 and try 6 samples. I liked majority of the wines that were offered. My favorite being the liberty sparkling wine and the cherry sangria! When all was said and done I ended up purchasing a bottle of the liberty. I was in town for work and a friend told me to check out this store. I love cherries. $60 later. Happy with my purchases. They have samples of almost everything. I also tried the Pinot Noir which was delicious. I bought the ground mustard, trail mix, dark chocolate covered cherries, cheer granola, and a couple a hard cherry ciders which I can't wait to try tomorrow. Came in with our bach party for wine tasting and exploring the store. Always love the self serve tasting stations throughout the store of a lot of their items. Their cherry salsa is so so good, as well as their chocolate covered cherries. Our large group found a spot at the bar easily for the wine tasting. Was immediately invited to sign up/subscribe to the mailing list for 15% off my initial order. When I tried to check out, I only rec'd 5% discount. Called customer support and left message. I love absolutely cherries; the taste, fragrance, and appearance. I even have a cherry tree growing in my yard, grafted with four different varieties! You might imagine my delight knowing I was flying in and out of TVC, "Cherry Capital of the World". On my way home I talked to locals about my options: Cherry Republic & Benjamin Twiggs. Cherry Republic keeps long hours, even in the off season, and I loved the set-up as soon as I walked in! Various cherry related products lined the walls, a bar serving a variety of cherry beverages, register in the center, and small tables highlighting featured items scattered across the floor. I walked out with four bottles of cherry wine (only picked the ones that were made from 100% cherries) and a few candies. It was a real chore trying to get all the products packed safely in my carryon (already full with three days worth of worn clothing), but it all arrived safely and I'm already down to my last bottle of wine. I think this place is the cherry bomb, literally. I always take a pass through this shop to grab some wine for my parents and friends too. I have been to other locations, but the one here in TC feels special, since it is after all in the heart of the city it's been known to come from. There seems to be wall to wall cherry jams, BBQ sauce, salsas, dried cherries, dips and wines too. They would usually offer up quite a bit of samples, wines included, but not during covid season. They do tastings by appointment at most locations, they aren't doing tastings at this location at all. read more

I've been in here before and was excited to pop in after dinner. We checked the times posted on the door before walking past. Open until 9:00, cool, we were a couple of doors down and it was only 7:00. We were done with dinner at 8:00 and were ready to go in and grab some wine, mustard, bbq sauce, and candy but THEY WERE CLOSED! A full hour earlier than the posted closing time. A must stop in downtown Traverse City. This large shop sells all the cherry candy, jams, spreads, dried cherry nut mixes, and cherry chocolates you could ever dream of, plus a free sample of nearly everything! I ate my way around the store and left with a few bags of sour cherry candies, cheery licorice bites, and chocolate covered cherries. So yummy! Also, check out the tasting counter on the side. The main operation is up in Glen Arbor, which is also fabulous if you have a chance to visit, but the tastings here are a nice treat, too. read more

And they offer a lot of samples, which certainly helps with the decision making process!
