Walked down a few blocks and found exactly what I needed plus lunch (sub sandwich for just $8.99, chips and diet coke). Found out that they make breakfast sandwiches and only $3.55 for egg, cheese and bacon on a roll. Add to it the owner is great! It only makes me want to go there more often. Just nice I don't have to hop into my car or use an on-line shopping service for a couple of items.

The neighborhood is a little sketchy on Main St. Poughkeepsie, but don't let that put you off. Once inside you wend your way through a maze of aisles, going past rows of recognizable produce and exotic produce. There's loads of fresh herbs, several types of mushrooms, and vegetables. It's not fancy inside. The shelves carry mostly Caribbean and Mexican products, produce, and household items. But, there are also the same items you might find in a local supermarket. There are Asian items on the shelves as well. There aren't many fish markets up here, compared to the City. The fish section is quite impressive. Whole fluke, mackerel, gigantic porgies, and other whole fresh fish. Further down are fillets and seafood. There is no fishy smell anywhere. The clams close when tapped. Today I checked the eyes and gills of a few fish - clear and bright red. The way there supposed to be when fresh. Bring your own shopping bags.

They sell bulk nuts, seeds, spices, coffee, tea, rice grains beans flour oats pasta oils and more. Maa as ny items are organic and prices seem to be on par or lower than other natural food stores in the area! She even has bulk shampoo, laundry detergent soap and household/kitchen items. The tare system allows you to bring your own bags and jars to fill and she has clean jars for free to use as well and you weigh the container before filling so you're not paying extra for the container weight. Happy to support this brand new small business!!
