I heard Sam's had new owners, so I had to try. I went to Sam's pizzeria with my spouse for dinner. We ordered the Hawaiian special and each got a couple drinks. It was absolutely delicious! Lots of pineapple, big chunks of ham, Hot peppers on half ..so many hot peppers...love it, cooked perfectly and the optimal ratio of sauce to crust. The sauce was just right. I am very picky about pizza and I was very pleased. The service was impeccable. Our server was very prompt and efficient . He made it an enjoyable time and had a great sense of humour. The owner Lisa came over and greeted us. She is very kind and friendly. She wanted to make sure everything was just right and that we were enjoying our meal. She made drink recommendations that fit perfectly to our tastes. My spouse had a couple's landshark's and I had two Aperol Spritz's. It was balanced just right. Not too bitter, not too sweet. Sam's Pizzeria & Cantina is a staple of Windsor. Everything on their menu is great, it is hard to choose what to eat. My go to, however, is the Tortellini Alla Pana. It's easily one of my favourite pastas...ever! I love that you can taste the freshness of the homemade pasta. The fresh bread that it comes with is perfect for dippin' into the sauce. It comes with a fresh salad full of vegetables. It's a little on the pricier side, but it's worth it. read more

Sam's is a pizza place close to the University of Windsor. They serve mostly University students, mostly having pizza, panzerottos and various types of coffee. They are nice, and their food is pretty good. I used to go to this place quite often when i attended the University of Windsor, and still stop by sometimes for food when I am in the area. They are probably the best Pizza place in my opinion located close to the University of Windsor, and their coffee is definitely the best outside of Tim Hortons for the area. Though they are funny because the difference between a Calzone and a Panzerotti is a Calzone is baked and a Panzerotti is fried. But they sell baked Panzerotti here. read more

I was happy with the food and service at Sam's. The pizzas taste great, although for my liking I would prefer a slightly thicker base. It's very popular with university students, so can get quite crowded, but is good to pop into for a bite at lunch time and late night if you don't mind the crowd. read more

This place sells mediocre food which is overpriced. Don't believe me? Compare the prices for spagos personal pizza and theirs its absolutely the same. I ordered a personal pizza called the Bianco pizza and it was absolutely garbage sold for 15 bucks. It was essentially garlic bread sold to me as a personal pizza. Moreover, in another instant I saw someone else walk into this place with a visible disability of some kind probably Tourette's syndrome and he barely sat for 5 minutes they asked him to leave. One of the best pasta and pizza spots right around the corner from the university, and one that I visited often when I was there. The interior wasn't all that big, with enough seating for about 7-8 tables, but they managed it well and always seemed to have customers. The food here was always on point! A little pricier than your average restaurant around the university campus, but I'm not one to complain when you get great food. With gourmet and thin crust pizzas, as well as their awesome pastas, there was always reason for me to come back here. Their panzerotti were also bomb, as they were literally the size of your head! Service was always really good, and the owner was around a lot to check in on you to see how your meal was going! Okay so I've been here a couple of times and I'm never really impressed, maybe that's because everyone talks about how great it is and maybe because I'm a little picky with pizza. There pizza is okay but definitely not the best in the area by a lot. I tried their deep fried panzarotti this time and I gotta say I was very disappointed. It was overwhelmingly doughy. Also once I did finally get to the ingredients they tasted of really low quality. The mushrooms were definitely from a can and nothing was really cooked inside (aside from the melted cheese) so the mushrooms tasted like I was eating them directly out of a can. A few of us got together and ordered delivery from Sam's. I was so disappointed in what I ordered. I ordered the Alla Del Mondo - Grilled Focaccia (eggplant, roasted red peppers, artichokes and onions). I asked for chicken to be added. The sandwich also came with a side of garden salad. It was so dry, there was no cheese or sauce. I should have seen it when I looked at the menu...the Alla Del Mondo and the Alla Zia Maria are the only two sandwiches that don't have cheese. But still, there should have been a sauce or something. As for the salad, it was a joke. It came with romaine lettuce (that was not cut up - I had pieces as big as my hand), old tomatoes, massive pieces of red onions, and red peppers. The dressing was just pure vinegar. When I was initially deciding what to order, everything on the menu seemed so expensive. Come on, this is not Erie St. The only good thing I have to say is that our order came fairly quickly (20 mins). But then again, it's a really snowy day and so it was probably slow there anyways. read more

Honestly, I haven't been to Sam's in years. I used to know one of the previous owners long ago. I went with my daughter to give it a try after all it looks very quaint. I don't usually write reviews either. But I hard bu far the worst food experience. Whee do I begin. I ordered the minestrone soup. It tastes more like sauce and had no beans and the vegetables were very soggy. i only took a few bites as I was starving when I got there but the waitress told be the soup was frozen and they have to reheat it. Secondly, I ordered thin crust pizza and veggies. I swear there was so much cheesy I could barely taste anything else. Thin crust should not be overloaded with cheese it was so heavy. Then my daughter ordered pasta with chicken and the chicken tasted freezer burnt and it wasn't even real chicken. Its was processed. I know the difference and we were very turned off by this. To top it all off we had flies swarming all over our table as it was So hot in the restaurant. I asked the server if the air was in and she said she doesn't think it was working and so they have to keep the door open in the kitchen. That was how the flies were coming in. This honestly should be reported to health and safety board. How can paying customers enjoy a safe meal? Please don't waste your money. Besides the server also tried to overcharge me for topping. I discussed my pizza order with her prior and she quoted me a price, then to top it all over overcharged me! "No pun intended ". I first tried Sam's Pizzeria two years ago when I first arrived in Windsor. I had their panzarotti back then, deep fried. I wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Anyways, I decided to give this place another try ... but I see things haven't improved much. I had their Penne Aribiata for lunch. Their pasta was great ... if I didn't have any teeth that is. It was soft, mushy, falling apart and bland. Supposed to be in a "fresh garlic and chilli peppers in a delicious meat sauce." Where's the meat?? Not much else to say about it really. I guess they call themselves "Sam's PIZZERIA" for a reason, because everything else isn't up to par to be called an Italian restaurant. I love Sam's. Best pizza place to go to around the university. Pretty affordable and they have a great selection of beers on tap. I almost always get the panzerotti and am always in love. They jam the thing with ingredients so you're never lacking. The cheese becomes this melted gooey deliciousness and just...mmm. The restaurant is a bit tight but they make pretty good use of the space they have. Ambience is wonderful and the service is always polite and attentive. read more

Good food, great portions, good service and a nice atmosphere....I'm not sure what else you can ask for. Their panzerotti is the size of my head (almost....not even kidding) and their pizza has been a local favourite since the 50's. Specials like $5 mini pitchers and Panzo Tuesdays make a good deal even better. And with the leftovers I can eat a full Sam's meal two days in a row! (A student's dream) Great place for a date, group celebration, or a couple of drinks after a stressful day in the classroom. Can't believe it ordered tortellini to be delivered. Called back 45 minutes later only to be told it was sent out 30 minutes earlier. The math didn't work it's a 5 minute drive to the hotel I was staying in. So after another call they still can't deliver dinner. It's now 10:45 I ordered 90 minutes ago. Called again, yes seriously I still don't have dinner after all that. First I got a bullshit story that they called my room and I didn't answer. Bullshit I called the front desk and asked if they had s deliver man down there. Nope no one . So here I sit 2 hours it's now 11 pm. I have never had customer service this bad. You can literally get anything you want on their pizzas. I'd highly recommend the asparagus and freshly chopped garlic. The quality is amazing, and the price isn't bad for an independent mom-and-pop type pizzeria. Also, if you go to the restaurant, they have incredible cakes on display in the entrance that will make your soul shine if you order a slice. The delivery can be a little slow, but it's usually well worth the wait for a better quality pizza. The only reason this place lost a star was because they use canned mushrooms by default; you have to specify fresh mushrooms when you order. read more
