Loved the pizza and drinks here. Went recently before a Tiger's game and it's a perfect walk to the stadium. The drinks are well priced, the staff is super friendly, and all the pizzas we ordered were really great. A little ricotta-heavy on the Beast of Burden but overall great and I'd say the Bee Sting was everyone's favorite.

I finally made it to Mootz after walking past it so many times, and I'm so glad I did! My friends and I came on a busy night, so there was about a 45-minute wait, but it was worth it. They have a spacious patio along with plenty of seating inside. Once we were seated, our waiter came over right away, was friendly, and helped us with drink and food recommendations. I ordered the Juliet pizza, and wow...the flavors were incredible! The combination of the balsamic glaze and fig jam worked so well together. It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Honestly, I'm still thinking about that pizza and already trying to plan my next visit just to have it again.

Pros: Staff was excellent - from host to bartender they were courteous, friendly, and efficient Garden salad was the standout - very fresh and good sized Lively atmosphere Bartender makes proper cocktails - loved the option to add mango! Cons: For a place with pizzeria in the name, we thought it was surprisingly mid. It was perfectly fine, but this city is full of great pizza and this did not really rate.

I came here for lunch with a friend. It's a very nice restaurant that also has outside seating. Bianca our server was amazing! We ordered a meat pizza and a New York adding mushrooms. Both were delicious! Excellent Italian style! Service was great and lunch went fast. Bathrooms need some attention especially the soap dispenser took me by surprise with a projectile squirt all over my clothes.

    Gemelli Pasta.

This place was recommended by the receptionist at the hotel. Service was great! However, the food didn't match. We started off with the garlic knots. It didn't taste like it had garlic at all. It was more a Parmesan & oil knot. We then ordered the Gemelli pasta. It didn't have much flavor to it & it didn't look like gemelli pasta. It looked like kraft Mac & cheese pasta, & the there were barely any mushrooms in the dish. We shared the Juliet pizza, which was good. It's on the sweeter side because of the fig jam and balsamic glaze.

Overall, I'd rate Mootz around a 3.5, but giving a 4 mainly because of the excellent service and the burrata, which was definitely the standout dish. Would come back, especially for that. The vibe was lovely and fun on a Saturday night. We started with the burrata, which was excellent. It wasn't just a basic arugula and burrata situation, it was well seasoned with a really nice olive oil, lemon, and balsamic combination that made it feel elevated. It also came with baguette slices, but those are made with their pizza dough (which contains eggs). Once we mentioned my egg intolerance, our server was incredibly kind and checked with the kitchen, and they were able to make alternative slices using their gluten-free dough. Really appreciated that extra effort. The Grandma's Pizza (we did it on the gluten-free crust because of the egg) was pretty good. The crust itself was solid, especially for gluten-free. The toppings leaned heavier on the cheese than the sauce, and I didn't love the cheese as much, but it was still an enjoyable dish overall. Service really stood out -- everyone we interacted with at the bar was friendly, attentive, and accommodating.

Really nice space with a cool vibe Service was great! They immediately recommend the garlic knots... And for good reason. These garlic knots are otherworldly . Huge in size and so soft and buttery. The pizza is excellent Pasta also very good

This is some of the best pizza I've had and should be considered the pizza to beat in Detroit. Stopped in for lunch with a couple of friends in the late lunch hour so not many people were there. We were seated right away and our server, Katie, was fantastic. Great service. Not too hovery. No complaints. They got a large bee sting (looked very good and they said it was great) and I got a small beast of burden. It was fantastic. Little flop, dough had nice flavor, and good portion on the toppings. I was a little concerned it would be small, but it was a good portion size for one. I'm not usually a ricotta fan, but it perfectly complimented the salty meats and parm. My only negative would be the price. $20 for a personal pizza is pretty up there. However, it was high quality so I didn't feel as bad about it. All in all, a must visit.

This was my second time here - the first time I would've gave it 5 stars. I'm knocking it down one because there were ice chunks in my martini :( They were super busy on a Saturday night in the midst of Christmas so I didn't want to bother asking for a new drink. The pizza and vibes were amazing as usual and I will be back - just won't be getting a martini lol! Bee sting is a 10/10 - just needs a few red pepper flakes - def recommend!!

Mootz was a great surprise. The place is a large pizza joint with plenty of seating and a large bar area. SERVICE: The team here was great. Everyone was friendly and helpful and our server was very attentive and helped me make a dairy free pizza - Yay!! FOOD: Well see for yourself. The pizzas are super tasty and the salads were fresh. This is a great pizza stop if you are downtown.

Great experience for the most of it. They forgot about us at the table for a good 30 minutes. I finally flagged down a gentleman and he was OUTSTANDING! Had the order out in a few mins and kept the drinks full. Much appreciated!

We stopped in for dinner and, although the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, it seemed like they were short-staffed. We ended up waiting quite a while to be seated, and several other guests were waiting as well. We ordered the garlic knots, which were very greasy--just as other reviewers have mentioned. For our main dish, we got a large buffalo chicken pizza. The flavor was good, but it was a bit too spicy for my taste. That said, the wait staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, even with the delays. The food took longer than expected to come out, but the service itself was warm and appreciated. One thing to note: gratuity is automatically added for parties of four or more, so keep that in mind when the bill arrives. Overall, despite the slow pace and a couple of small food issues, the staff and atmosphere made it a solid experience. I'd give it four stars.

The pizza was so good, I forgot to get a picture. We ordered the halal pepperoni pizza and it was so good, the sauce was great the pepperoni were amazing it was cooked perfectly. It was busy but the service was a little slow but the waiter was nice. The Caesar salad and garlic knots were delicious as well. I will be back but make sure you make reservations this place stays busy

The theme was "Yes, Chef: An exploration of culinary icons through a cocktail lens." Each drink was inspired by or dedicated to a famous culinary icon, and you can read about each one in the index. We each ordered one drink from each section. From the Opening, I chose the Diaspora Club, which was so refreshing and delicious. Then from the Principals, I chose the Chingona, which was a little bit spicy and savory but still so refreshing. To Finish, I chose the Chocolatier Cosmo, which came with a tiny house-made salted dark chocolate. I loved all three cocktails I ordered, especially the chocolatier cosmo because it was perfectly sweet and went so well with the small piece of chocolate. For food, we started off with the crispy pork belly milk bread. For my entree, I ordered the miso butter gnocchi. It was kind of on the salty side but I still really liked it. The apple sofrito added a bit of sweetness to it. For dessert, we had to get the rhubarb coffee cake, which came with strawberry ice cream. Omg one of the best desserts I've ever had!! I never thought of combining cinnamon coffee cake with rhubarb or strawberry but it's perfect, and I might have to make something like that soon. Service was great and we were seated right away at 8pm on a Saturday despite not having a reservation. Food and drinks came out promptly and timed perfectly. We spent about 1.5 hours here and we never felt rushed.

It is tucked away in an alley, and yes, the trash bins may briefly make you question your life choices. But once you spot the glass block window, you know you are in the right place. The second you walk in, the vibe completely changes. You are greeted by a friendly host, then brought into this tiny, dark, cozy little speakeasy that feels like it seats maybe 25 people total, including the bar. It is intimate in the best way, with a gorgeous liquor wall and a rolling ladder that makes the whole room feel dramatic without trying too hard. The drinks are the reason to come. They are creative, unusual, and genuinely unlike what you will find at a standard cocktail bar. Some of the spirit combinations sound like they should not work on paper, but somehow they absolutely do. The mixologists clearly know what they are doing, because every "wait, really?" ingredient pairing seems to turn into something balanced, interesting, and dangerously easy to appreciate. The only things to keep in mind are the size and the pricing. It can get busy quickly because it is so small, and cocktails can run anywhere from around $20 to over $100 depending on what you order. Not exactly a casual "oops, I had three" kind of place unless your wallet has been emotionally prepared. Bad Luck Bar is moody, memorable, and one of the more unique cocktail experiences in Detroit. It feels hidden, thoughtful, and just a little mischievous, which is exactly what a good speakeasy should be.

It felt so freeing to be in a space where everyone was having a good a time and doing their own thing. I had my hands in the air. It was sensual. It was sexy. It was a vibe. Now the bathroom situation is interesting. So, the bathroom situation is 2 urinals and the sink in the open space as well as an enclosed single stall. The only thing with that is it's all-gender, which is not the issue. But the layout of the restroom is you could potentially come out of the single stall and be in the same space with someone actively using the open urinals which is a bit awkward. Washing your hands and checking yourself in the mirror while some random person is pee'ing 2 feet away. As a woman I think about safety with a shared space like that so do what you will with that info. Outside of that I had a really fun time. Everyone was super nice and the cover was $10pp. If you decide you don't wanna dance they have an enclosed bar on the street level of the establishment as well as outdoor seating if that's you're thing.
