First week in town for business and 4 of us went out for dinner here. I ordered the #17 and received very generous portions. The jumbo was very good, nicely plump and juicy. The fish is light and flakey and the shrimp is wonderful. They give you your money's worth and if you leave hungry it's not their fault. The burgers and wraps are good also and the salads are a great buy also, I would recommend this and do to all my friends. The food was good. Our waitress was very nice. The food was great. Talk about large portions. We had lots of food to take home. The view of the Creek/lake was pretty. The only downside was the bathroom. We had a long drive home and had to use the bathroom before we left. We barely could use it because the smell was so awful. My kids were plugging their nose. Well we came for dinner.....sat at our table for 15 min got up and left. Waiter made eye contact several times but was to " busy" to take our drink order....what is going on here? I was so excited to be coming here to eat. Before the flood we ate at Sam's every Sunday. Now....I don't know. I'm sure everyone will say it was just that one time, really that's all it takes. Let me start by saying the food is wonderful and served in generous portions. You won't find better catfish or shrimp in town and this is after eating in the restaurant. The problem resulting in just two stars is the lack of service in relation to a delivery service order. The delivery service failed to deliver the order prepared by the restaurant (The delivery service refunded the amount paid.) and that is not the restaurant's fault. However, I called the restaurant to inform them of the problem and request that the order be remade for me to pick it up. The young lady who answered the phone put me on hold for three minutes and when the manager came on the phone he explained that the restaurant had nothing to do with delivery and didn't even know where the orders were going. He did not offer to fulfill my remake request ( with me paying full price) and ended the conversation. They lost business and I lost a good meal. read more

I live out of state and ordered a family dinner and a few other extras for my aunt who had just been released from the hospital. The entire family could not stop talking about how wonderful the food was and were in shock at the portions! The fish not too greasy and they still talk about it. Sides were lacking. Green beans from can. Slaw fresh and cold but very heavily dressed. Average hush puppies. The red beans and rice tasted a lot like retried beans but they were my favorite side. Good spice level and flavor. Nice setting on river backwater but building interior could use some love. I would really like to see the place make it and tried it because we'd heard people liked it. Horrible service! Plus from what I understand they get their catfish from China that's why they can sell huge portions so cheap. The sides are disgusting I never received a refill and felt rushed through our meal. We asked them to sing happy birthday to our family member 4 times and they never did we will never go back! To be honest I was a little disappointed because I was just visiting and was extremely hungry. The fried fish is great, so is the green beans....the other two sides I tried (mac and cheese/mashed potatoes) were really bad. Mac and cheese is basically noodles with the cheese that you get at a carnival or fair mixed in. The mashed potatoes are a powder kind which tasted like they were cooked in a scorched pot or something. Overall the service was good though. Daisy is extremely nice and very attentive. The fish and oysters were both excellent and the portions were large As a matter of fact neither my wife nor I could finish it all. This business lacks in its ability to give basic customer service. When you go out to eat it is important to be greeted, to trust your server is knowledgeable in the COMPANY'S product, for the product to be fresh and hot, in addition for management to be available. Sam's Eatery failed at all these. No one was at the front of the resturant to greet my party, although a girl yelled "Can someone get the door." Later our waitress, which I found very concerning, was not familar with the menu list or which foods on the menu we were looking at. Waiters seemed to just be lounging around. I also notice the US Food truck driver fraternizing with employees in front of customers as if this was someone's home. I will say the food's presentation was okay, however some shrimp was cold and the waiter offered to put it in the microwave to warm it up. We asked for a manner however he/she does not come to the tables. Management gave us a .90 discount! Do not waist your hard earned money eating there. I asked for a manager and advised her I had been calling to place an order for over an hour. She said "he" tells us not to answer the phone on the weekends!
