June 14 went to Samuel's to buy a loveseat. Even though their prices can be a bit higher, we wanted to shop local. Lou helped us. We identified three we liked. We were told one is no longer being made, one has a 6 week lead time, and the other a 12 week lead time. We were disappointed to have been shown the discontinued one as it fit my very tall husband best. We liked the 12 week one better, but went with the 6 week loveseat as family was to visit and we needed the seating. We paid for it in full. Called July 24 to get an update. Was told Lou wasn't in. The receptionist couldn't see the ETA page. Said she'd have Lou call us with an update. Looking at the receipt I did notice no ETA was given. Lou never called. Walked into Samuel's on August 14, 8 weeks after the order. Again was told Lou normally works but was out. Again the receptionist couldn't see any ETA information. However, it was stated that that particular company does have a 12 week lead time, so we were still in the delivery window. I said we were told 6 weeks and if we had been told the reality, we would have gone with the other loveseat that we liked better!! A copy of our receipt was taken. We were told Lou would call us with an update. Lou never called. August 25th we got a call from the office manager. We were informed that the imported parts needed for manufacturing the loveseat had been lost so there would be a delay. BUT also our order HAD NEVER BEEN PLACED so there would be a lead time of an additional 12 weeks!! We still needed the loveseat. I said my husband and I would discuss it and get back to them. We were offered a rebate for our inconvenience. August 26th husband decided enough. He went into Samuel's and requested the order be cancelled and a refund issued. He was told their accounting department would get back to him in a couple of days!! We're still waiting for them to call. When we ordered we paid for the item in full right then, but we have to wait on their leisure for a refund when the errors are theirs! They've given erroneous information, evaded communication, and took our funds but failed to place the order!! We've spoken to others, this appears to be Samuel's SOP. Do not recommend doing business with them unless the item you want is in stock, in their warehouse, ready for you to pick up right now! read more

Zero stars. Very poor communication. I placed an order for a Loveseat on 5/22/26. They've had my money since then. No communication from them. I called last week and asked for a refund, since no one could tell me what was going on or when I could expect the order. I was told they would refund the full amount. Now a week has gone by, no refund, no communication. In the past we have been very happy with them, but their customer at this point is nonexistent. We are no strangers to Stressless (Ekornes) furniture. We have purchased a number of pieces over the years primarily from well-known Scandinavian furniture stores in the Puget Sound area. On January 3, 2026 we purchased a Stressless recliner from Michelle at Samuel's paying a 50% deposit with estimated delivery of 3 to 4 months. We have been patiently waiting, but at 5 months we asked for a status report. We did not get a response. Last week when we called we were promised updated information "soon". We never got a call back. Today, 7 1/2 months after the sale I visited the store. The person who helped me made a telephone inquiry, and was told that the factory had not responded to their call so could not provide me with any information. When I suggested that the store should have kept track of the order and certainly should have kept me informed (especially after passing the estimated delivery date by so much!) the person told me that the salesperson was on leave and therefore I did not get updates because customer contact is the salesperson's job. I cannot trust a store with a large deposit when the store does not take responsibility for ensuring that the sales contract is fulfilled in a timely manner, and that shows a disregard for its customers. The sort of behavior I experienced made me suspicious that a bankruptcy could be imminent. I asked for, and was immediately given a refund. I know what I want, and there are 3 places relatively close that can take my order. I will have to wait, but I will be working with a trustworthy store that I know will give me timely, and straight-up answers. Too bad...Samuels is very close, and they have a nice showroom of Ekornes. If Michele comes back, I might consider it again, but I would need assurances from the store that they may not be able to keep. read more

Good products and generally good service, but avoid Cheryl who always seems to be the first to nab anyone walking through the Door. When I specified what I wanted and asked her as to the colour options she went away to find out. I waited and waited. Fifteen minutes later I observed her serving another customer in another part of the store. I waited till she saw me then asked why she had left me stranded? Said she thought I was undecided and left me to attend to another customer. IMHO, a nitwit sales driven person who is not customer oriented. I dont understand how Mr. Samuels keeps her around. I have purchased other furniture from there since and found a neat young guy there who does a good job for me. It is not the cheapest place but the products they represent are good quality. Amazing customer service. I bought a sofa and chairs. The sofa came and I was concerned the manufacturer sent a defective sofa. They came out and contacted the manufacturer. Updated; I received a call the next day from General Manager Bob Dodge. He showed genuine concern for my posted review. Typically, a retailer doesn't want negative publicity in the social media world of today. He generously and/or appropriately gave me a refund of a portion of the price I paid to a figure I felt was fair. I accept that my experience was the result of a sales person who is either in the wrong job or was having a bad day. When I have a need to return to this store, I will choose to be helped by a more considerate sales person. Original post. I've never purchased furniture at Samuel's myself but have accompanied friends who have and have, myself, been impressed with the selection of quality items and the staff who helped in my friends purchases. On October 15, I entered the store in search of an end table for a particular spot in my house. I was greeted by Mr. Van Den Berg. I explained what I was looking for and we moved around the store but found nothing that seemed right. He suggested I look around and he proceeded to sit at his desk. As I walked by, I saw an interesting piece that was near where he was sitting and was obscured by a fake plant that sat on top. It was marked "Hue Round Stool" # 12532 or 928419. It was made from laminated wood that made up a conga drum-like "stool". The glue had obviously failed from severely shrinking wood and there were cracked seams around the entire item. The SALE tag showed it to be marked down to $119 from a regular price of "$259". It was in very bad shape for the quality of what the store sells, but it was perfect for what I was looking for. I asked if it could be marked down more and I received a cold and emphatic "NO". I was tired of searching for the right item and agreed on the "as-is" price. While Mr. Van Den Berg was writing up the sale, I noticed on the attached tags that the original price tag indicated that the regular price was $199, not the $259 which was the MSRP. The sales tag was blatantly misleading. I pointed it out to Mr. Van Den Berg and noted that this "table", which was really a stool and would have sold at a garage sale for $20, wasn't even half off. All he had to say was that he would point this out to management. I proceeded to pay for the "table" since it was what I was looking for even though it was, in my opinion, over-priced. I asked if it could be carried to my car and he said he couldn't do it and nobody else was around. I carried it myself. I have to say, I am happy with the "rustic" table, but not happy with the experience. Most people would have seen this item as something to use in a garage or IN the fireplace. So much for my taste in furniture. I feel that I took it off their hands and would have praised Samuel's for selling it at a reasonable price. read more

This armoire is over 40 years old and Louis XV style from France. The design is not typical, so the repair was unusual. Samuels Furniture is the only business of the four that I called who try the repair. This armoire has been around the world, but it found its new lease on life in Ferndale, WA. Not impressed. We shopped for our new furniture here thinking "you get what you pay for". We rationalized that the furniture was more expensive, but expected to receive top notch service for those prices. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Our salesperson (Terry) was pathetic when it came to communicating with us. Long story short, I was able to resolve my issue after dealing with the general manager . . months after i would have expected some communication from our salesperson. Most of the people I dealt with here (delivery, service, & manager) were helpful and seemed sincere in their willingness to help. We purchased some furniture from Samuel's two years ago. We got an awesome deal on a gorgeous leather couch and recliner. It took a bit longer to receive than we'd expected, but our salesperson kept in touch with us. As far as selecting our furniture, our salesperson (wish I could remember his name) showed us darn near every couch in the store and explained differences in everything. He asked what we really wanted in our furniture and then let us try everything out. We had a good experience with Samuel's and are still happy with our purchase. The only thing we weren't thrilled about was delivery. Our couch and the delivery guys smelled like smoke. They dinged our wall when they brought it in. We called to let Samuel's know about the smoke and they seemed to take the call very seriously. I would shop there again when we are in the market for new furniture. read more

The Samuels team was amazing to me. Having trained at Nordstrom's infamous store 1 customer service is ingrained deeply. When I see it I cheer it and Tim, Elie and team went above and beyond more than meetings needs they also hit my wants. They accomplished this all while keeping my budget needs in focus. Delivery crew were prompt and courteous. Took their shoes off without asking. Made sure not to ding trim and walls. My taste in furniture is more mid century and industrial which they didn't have a lot of selection in but they were sensitive to that and didn't try and change my taste to make a sale. I would very cautious about purchasing anything here. We bought 6 very expensive dining chairs in mid-May and were assured by our sales person that they would take 6 weeks to be made and delivered. Here we are almost 12 weeks later and still no chairs. Each time we call to check on them we are told there was an issue and maybe next week. This has been going on for about 6 weeks now. We would never have purchased these chairs if we knew how long they would have taken. No ownership of this issue by the company and no apologies or attempts to make this right. We truly regret having bought our chairs from them and if we hadn't paid a deposit we would walk away. Buyer beware when making a purchase from Samuels. I would not recommend them at all. Update: after the original review was posted, the manager, Bob, called to tell us he would look into this issue and get back to us. We now have the chairs and they are beautiful. read more

I really don't think I can express my gratitude enough to Samuel's Staff in Ferndale. They take their time to make sure you get what you need with no stress or pressure at all. The salespeople are knowledgeable and helpful. What I'm most impressed by is how much support they offered years after the sale. I purchased a higher-end lazy-boy recliner and I got the service plan with it ... something I don't normally do. The 3rd party that managed the service plan turned out to be fairly unhelpful and dragged their heels every step of the way. However, after I contacted the support guys at the store and told them what was happening, they were all over it and did the support work themselves ...5 years after the purchase. Thomas was just awesome when it came to helping. I suffer chronic back and neck problems and the chair is one of the few things that help. When I told him what was going on, he didn't hesitate. He had the part in stock and sent one of his guys out the next day. They really deserve 5 stars, Sadly they can't control the operations of the 3rd party service plan people. That said, I still wouldn't change buying the chair or the service plan again (motors get expensive), I still consider it to be one of the best purchases I've ever made. read more

When the service rep came to look at it he further damaged it by taking it apart and it will not go back together. One side is a full inch off than the other. Update: A refund has been recieved for the loveseat we ordered. After many trials and tribulations, phone calls, social media reviews, etc., we finally spoke to the owner of this business, and a refund was issued. While we appreciate the conclusion, we would still not be able to recommend this company due to the amount of time and effort this took to resolve. Still waiting for furniture that was supposed to be delivered on February 6th, then February 20th. Spoke to the general manager, and at this point we have no delivery date at all for a loveseat that was paid for almost two months ago. No alternatives were offered by the general manager, only excuses, blaming the customer, and essentially calling us liars because this original delivery date is what we were told in-store by their salesperson (the manager claims this only meant it would be at the store on that date). We cannot cancel because it was a special order. My parents are elderly, ill and now have no furniture, because since they thought it was being delivered in a timely fashion, they made arrangements to have their other furniture removed on the 5th of February. Absolutely ridiculous! Atrocious service, can't believe they claim to be the best furniture store in Bellingham. Bad, bad, bad. Avoid buying here. I would not even give them one star if I had a choice. Edited to add my reply to Eli S: Considering the lack of customer service thus far, I hope that you at least will be true to your word and refund our money. I do find it interesting that we were unequivocally (and gleefully) told by your general manager that no refund was possible, and basically never given a correct delivery date, even after numerous calls. As a local business owner myself, were I to bill you for my time spent dealing with your company, you would owe me a considerable amount of money. From the multi-hour sessions in store before we selected our dining room set, to the courteous, friendly and patient demeanor of our sales associate, Cheryl, to the wonderful delivery men, this furniture buying experience has been nothing but positive. I am confident that the slight problem with a sofa we purchased will be corrected. The ball is in my court to contact their service department (who had already called me about this immediately after delivery). Prices are high but not out of line considering the quality. We just moved to Skagit County WA into a new home. We needed new furniture. We wanted quality, sale prices and a good selection store. The few in Mount Vernon, Wa and Anacortes didn't carry anything we were interested in plus selection was limited or prices too high. Then I googled Whatcom county. Samuelsons Furniture popped up. The site said Samuelsons had over 50,000 square feet of store to explore and shop. I thought it was a typo but decided to drive up and check it out. OH MY GOODNESS! This store is HUGE! Easy to find off exit 262 on I-5 too! When I opened the stores doors my eyes feasted on so many things I was liking I wasn't moving along. I have never been in a furniture/accessory store so well laid out and full of styles, colors and pieces I really loved. Tim Mallahan, a salesman and interior decorator, came to greet me and assist in my search for several big pieces of furniture. He listened to my needs and helped me find several options to choose from. I chose a Flexsteel sectional, 2 Lazy Boy occasional chairs and an ottoman. Tim helped me select colors and material for a perfect blend. Since this was a customer order, delivery would be about 4-6 weeks. I was fine with it since I loved what I found and could wait. Otherwise I could have chosen anything on the floor to take home immediately or have delivered. I was so happy and impressed with my trip to Samuelsons I made 2 new trips up, each with a new neighbor needing furniture! They were equally thrilled to find such a fantastic selection and did purchase their furniture there. I will be taking more neighbors up to see for their own eyes how big the store is, how many things there are to choose from, and how you could furnish every room in your interior house with unique and well made pieces. They even have other decor items sprinkled throughout the store to buy. Every time I visit I buy things! Yesterday was our furniture delivery day! The delivery guys protected our front door, made sure all our furniture made it in safely to the rooms they were going and placed it where we wanted it. They were very friendly and did a great job! Our newly finished customized pieces were beyond our expectations! They look so wonderful in our home! The colors and fabrics I chose with Tims expert eye for detail were so perfect all I can do is stare at our new furniture and smile! I cannot say enough about Samuelsons and how very happy I googled another county to find them! Oh! Also they do have sales days where they pay sales tax too! And they do deliver to Skagit County!
