The doctors are wonderful. However the office staff and care is very unprofessional. I watched the nurses send someone into the room I was just seen in and they did not clean or wipe anything down. It is incredibly disheartening to be dismissed by a doctor for missing appointments when those absences are directly caused by the severe, daily chronic pain I am seeking treatment for. I have been suffering from a debilitating illness for the last six years. On the days I am too sick to make it into the clinic, I am penalized rather than supported.There is a shocking lack of compassion here. No one from the office was even willing to call me to discuss my situation or find a solution, such as pivoting to a telehealth visit. It is deeply upsetting to be abandoned by the very medical professional who is supposed to be helping me manage my long-term care. My father had a gout attack. It was horrible and he had to go to ER for treatment and hospitalization. Afterwards, we were referred to Dr. Metyas who treated my father at his clinic going out of the way providing medication, instructions and many options for preventing and treating my father's condition. I was so happy and relieved to have found Dr. Metyas and understand now why he was awarded 'Physician of the Year' numerous times. I am writing this not because of Dr. Metyas. I've been to this clinic 2 times and saw the PA, Yanisa. The first time was ok. She ordered an MRI and some blood work. Then came my second visit. I asked her what was causing the pain in my upper leg. That is the reason I made the appointment. Her response was, "We don't know." When I asked her some questions, her attitude changed. She became very rude. Not pleasant at all. I was shocked by her behavior. Then she said, "I'm going to have the doctor see you from now on." The story doesn't end there. They referred me to a pain clinic on Glendora by the hospital. I called the pain clinic and sent the MRIs over on November 12th. I made 6 calls there, and as to date, there was no response. I called Dr. Metyas office, and explained my problem. I asked if they could help me with this problem. The reception said that they couldn't. Gee,vIve been in pain for 2 months, and rhey can't even send an email over to the pain clinic. The receptionist said that she would send a message to Yanisa. She stated that their office would call me back that day. That was 4 days ago. This is not the way to run an office. Obviously, they don't care about their patients, and Yanisa couldn't give me a few minutes of her time. She's not a doctor, but she has the attitude that she is better than anyone. Save your money, and don't go to this facility unless you want to be bullied. read more

Dr. Metyas has been my rheumatologist for over 15 years. He always wears his smile and he has been my biggest cheerleader as we have tried to combat my RA. Today was no exception as we explored another RX avenue to help alleviate the pain and progression of this disease. He is always so thorough with his knowledge of new medications. We now have a new care plan for me. I have also as of recent had conversations with Angie, Alex and Sandra who are incredibly knowledgeable and professional. I drive from Thousand Oaks to see him. Update * Went to the office to speak with Dr. Metyas since yesterday I was on hold for 48 mins instead the cops get called on me twice. Once because the Manager Alex didn't want to speak with me in a private area about my medical information so it was spoken about in the waiting room.Alex (Manager) told me Dr. Metyas had read my review on yelp and that's was why he was terminating my account. Although, he had already told my insurance agent earlier that day, before the review was even written, that a letter had been sent out about my account being terminated. I haven't received any letter or copy of it. I requested to have a private conversation with Dr. Metyas to discuss why I was getting such mixed information after paying what was requested, plus getting terminated without getting a 30 day notice.To smoothly transfer to another rheumatologist. Was told by manager Alex Dr. Metyas is too busy and I speak for him and he no longer wants you here so I'm not going to be taking you to the back. Go outside and we will speak about it ... manager Alex never stepped outside. The medication that Dr. has been prescribing me for over 4yrs can't just stop being taken. The cops came and they listened, they felt really bad for me, and they even recommended me to report them to the BBB. They told me to sit in my car for as long as I needed. Since, they could see I was inconsolable, could barely breathe, stand, and my vision was blurry they kept asking if I need an ambulance. A couple of nice people came and asked if I was ok and I sat in my car as the cops advised because I live an hour away. I was in agonizing pain, extreme fatigue plus physically and mentally exhausted.I couldn't cry anymore, I felt abandoned. Never had I ever felt that why from a medical provider. When I was finally okay to drive about 30 maybe 40 mins later :/ another cop shows up. So, I don't leave and waited to see if they were for me and, yes.This time I'm told the manager doesn't want me in the parking lot "Oh, my goodness. What have I done wrong now? I'm doing what the cops told me to do. I had finally calmed down I was just sitting in my car. I tell the cop what happened from start to finish ... again and how the previous cops told me to stay in my car and to not drive until I was calm. She was also very understanding and told me she was very sorry that was happening but for some reason the manager didn't want me to sit in my car in the parking lot. That I could park across the street.. she made sure I got there safe. read more

I am also able to make appointments efficiently through their telephone system and the office is exceptional with easy access, ample parking, clean and comfortable. I am a retired rheumatologist trying to help a friend get a sooner appointment for acute pain and swelling of his knee (his initial inquiry was that he could not be seen for 1 month). His wife sees Dr Metyas there. The office manager was obstructive and lacked empathy and more important, knowledge. When I asked to speak to any of the rheumatology staff and was willing to leave my number to get a call back, the manager became even more obstructive. I think the manager needs training in dealing with the public in general and physicians in particular. My friend got an appointment to be seen in 2 days with another rheumatologist. The office staff is rude. The lady in front, Sandra I believe smiles in your face and then as soon as you turn around she's got something to say. I was waiting for my Dads appointment card and she was talking about another patient. I wonder what was said after we left. Everyone there points the finger at someone else, even though supposedly this person specifically handles this job they're not responsible, they're always getting back to you. Omg...this place is such a meat market! I don't see an actual doctor, and in the past, the "practitioner" was just cold, well not cold, but robotic. Seen Dr. Chen once...(that visit reminded me of my Mom's last E.R. visit...I got really upset and began screaming that "she needs healthcare, she needs medical attention"!!! As the doctor was about to prescribe more pills and send us home! Ha! My Mom passed 6 wks later) I sometimes think..."What's the point?" Lupus is lupus...and it ain't goin anywhere anyway! many years ago my daughter was diagnoised with ra at 21. She was bedridden with chronic pain from morning stiffness. Her wonderful rheumatologist in covina was moving to Pasadena to go into private practice. I took her to Dr. metyas for a second opinion. I did not want to believe she had this horrible debilitating condition. I also wanted a Dr. closer to home. This way if she was not feeling well she could still see the Dr. Only a 5 minute drive. He examined her and said who told you that you have ra. Her arm was already messed up. She went back to her old Dr. in Pasadena. She is doing well enough that she only has to go every 4 months. Horrible practice. I've been taken to the back twice now. Of course it's past my appointment time however it is ridiculous to be taken to a room then asked to go back to the waiting room because they messed up your appointment time. I just want to start off by saying I'm never one to ever complain about people they're shitty ass service. I usually let it slide and ignore it because I think maybe they're just having a bad or they just hate they're job but really need the money!!!! But first off , the staff there are very rude. They don't greet you, they don't smile, they yell patient information across the dam hall for everyone can hear. Second the NURSE ALDA whatever her name is that does the infusions, was very disrespectful toward one of her employees she had working her. She was rough with a patient when disconnecting her IV, and she also makes you hold your own needle!! Which is not safe at all. I will NEVER come here again, nor will I reccomend anyone here. If you want to be treated as a number instead of a patient who matters then thus office is Perfect fir you and be sure ALEX is the one you ask for. To simply be able to get blood work results seems to be a monumental task of impossibly. After explaining to ALEX that there was a death in the family & it would be much better not to go to my scheduled appointment, but instead have my Mom pick up my bloodwork results, or for me to stop by & sign a release to have my results sent directly to my other specialist at USC ~ ALEX told me in no uncertain terms that he would NOT ACCOMMODATE EITHER REQUEST....when pushed and asked "why" he said that he would only can el my appointment and terminate the call - to say he was beyond rude, arrogant and unsympathetic would be a gross understatement. His attitude exemplifies what is wrong with health care today.
