Although we had a rain plan in place for the day of the wedding, I was not willing to give up on having my dream outdoor ceremony. Despite there being high odds of rain for our wedding day, I wanted to take a chance and try to make the outdoor ceremony happen. Thanks to Mitzi's expert planning, we were able to setup for the ceremony inside and outside and make the call only 30 minutes before the wedding. It rained so hard that the power went out in the bridal suite and Mitzi was still able to pull off nothing short of a miracle. In addition to coordinating with every single one of our vendors to ensure a seamless evening, Mitzi also went to bat for us whenever she could. Whether it was negotiating with our caterer to ensure certain rental items were included in our contract or disputing charges from the transportation company for a town car that failed to show up, I knew I could trust Mitzi to handle everything. (We are based out of Chicago, so this was a destination wedding by all accounts.) Bethany hosted countless phone calls with myself and my partner about design palettes (she even made a slideshow for us to help visualize) and helped us through some really difficult vendors. For example, AFTER we booked a wedding venue and paid deposits, the venue CLOSED with just a few months before the big day. Bethany sprang into action and found us an even BETTER venue. Also, we booked a flight into Austin to work with a caterer, and he cancelled last minute. Bethany, again - the super hero that she is - found us a better caterer, and even scheduled a tasting during the time when the original vendor left us hanging. She came to both of our fittings, as this was a double bride ceremony. She talked me down from my personal freak-out about dress choices. She made a budget, a schedule, e-introduced all vendors, kept a very rosé-drunk "I Do Crew" (sorry about that) on task during our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner with grace and a smile. The only "plates" provided were small paper "saucers" about 6' across. For a dinner of prime rib with sides. So everybody was stacking high, attempting to carry 2-3 plates, etc. Ridiculous..... AND.... They didn't provide knives to cut the prime rib on your plate. So literally people were eating with the fingers, chewing the meat off their fork, etc.

We are members here only because it is so close to our house…read more The tennis courts are absolutely unusable. We used to play here but the courts are so cracked up you never know where the ball is actually going to bounce. Court two has a crack/bump that is so big, it could be used to teach kids how to jump a mountain bike. The folks who actually still play tennis there have replaced the term "Mulligan" with "Overman." an example to be used in a sentence would be, " dude, that ball took such a weird bounce, just take an Overman" We joined Newcome so we could actually play tennis.
